HT3775 Quick Time player does not support AVI movies?

I can't play an AVI movie on quick time player. Why?

If you cant play it in QuickTime, then another media player may be more successful. A couple of good options that generally pick up where QuickTime falls short are VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html) and MPlayer OS X Extended (http://www.mplayerosx.ch).

The Problem that comes is:
The Document "Ishk.mp4" could not be opened.
A required codec isn't available.
To see if additional software is available that will
enable Quick Time to open the movie, click Tell Me More.
And if I try to do "Tell Me More", then nothing happens.

Install Perian for quicktime to add more codec support.
Or use a better more general and more powerful player like vlc.

Quick Time plugin crashes when I try to play voice note on wiggio. I have tried all the steps in Firefox crash article, I have done all updates. I have the current Firefox update. I have also reset Firefox. Nothing works it keeps crashing. How do i get it to work. Please help.

Looks to me like those are all windows downloads. Read the following thread. Maybe one of the players will help.

Use VLC . Plays just about any format and it's free.

The player does not support FramePositioningControl

Hi,
i receive a video and i want to count the number of the frames displayed. I use FramePositioningControl and everytime ( i' v tried avi, mov, mpg) i get the same message

As u realize i' ve used the Seek.java code for this purpose. If anybody can help please do so.

Premiere Element 12 does not recognize AVI movies.

Premiere Element 12 does not recognize AVI movies created with Casio Exilim EX-FH100 camera.
The operating system (Win 7 and Windows Media Player) recognizes these files without problems.
While trying to load an AVI movie in Premiere appears this inscription: This file type is not supported, or the required codec is not installed.
How can I fix the problem?

Thanks to your advice I solved the problem.
I installed the codec Morgan M-JPG from an existing link (http://morgan-multimedia-mjpeg-codec.en.lo4d.com/download) different from what I have proposed, this link was continually blocked by my anti-virus.
After restarting Prenmiere Elements 12 (without reboot) AVI movies of my Casio have been read.
The operating system of my PC is Windows 7.

HT3775 Quick Time Player not opening a mpg file

I have inserted a disk (video) that someone made for me. Quick time player keeps telling me that the movie (mpg) file cannot be opened. Can anyone tell me what's wrong or what I need to do to?

There is no single codec for movies that have .avi extensions. AVI is a container format, not a specific type of file. An AVI movie may use one of the Indeo codecs (there are at least four that I'm aware of, none of which have been ported to Mac OS X) or one of the various flavors of DivX, among other possibilities. You'll have to find out what codec was used for the movies you want to view to determine what you need. Note that not all codecs for the various .avi movies are available for QuickTime.
If you want to try "hit and miss", Perian, which rolls several codecs into one package, might work. If not, you can try the codecs at http://www.divx.com/ and http://www.3ivx.com/ and see if one of them will work for you. Do not install both Perian and the DiVX/3iVX codecs at the same time.
If you just want to play the movie any way you can, you can also give the aforementioned VLC Media Player a try.

HT3775 Why the the Quick Time Player is not opening?

I have been trying to watch a video for class, I'm unable to do that due to the quick time player. I've download it several time already. why is that?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

Thank you, I think we are close but this hasn't worked since the instructions per the document call for a selection of File>get into, which does not come up as a "bold" choice and is therefore not accessible, at least on my computer. It sounds like we are on the right track but I am not able to follow the instructions since the choices, as outlined in the article, are not chosable on my menu. Not sure what the problem is?

Quick Time pro does not start at all and gives an error "Fehler 46: K"

I installed QT pr0 without problems. But QT does not start. After doubleclicking there is a short message with the above error code "Fehler 46:K" No movie can be played is thera any support for pro customer`? Is the Problem known? Installing and uninstalling does not help. Procedures recommanded from apple - empty temp etc. did not help either. Google did only find 2 posts none with valuable information.

As I'm sure you are already aware, that HDD has failed to the point it cannot find a bootable volume.
If you have a backup, no worries.
If you do not have a backup, you could try to reinstall the operating system and get the disk to a state in which it will at least mount. Then, copy whatever information remains intact to another disk. I would be inclined to replace the drive now, install the failed one in an external enclosure, and attempt to extract whatever information you need from it.

Quick time Pro does not allow me to download files after unlocked.

In a website there are some audios in QT that I want to download. I right clicked and it gave me the option to download them. After a new screen apperared inviting me to purchase QT Pro. I did it and got the registration code to unlock Pro features.
Well, now I go to the same website and right clicking on the objects does not work anymore, hence I can not download anything and I just purchased the license to do it.

I think I killed myself. In the QT preferences I had choose Enable kiosk mode in the browser tab, which disables the option to save movies and change preferences from within the browser.
Now I have another problem, but I will open another ticket. I download, but it only downloads 1K files, but not the whole contents.

Upgrading to Quick time pro does not recognisse my key

I bought a key from the apple store in the uk and I have had an email with the key. I have tried entering it in system preferences quicktime register by both typing and cutting and pasting but it keeps sayin that it is invalid and does not update. Any ideas ?
