  • Quick Question **PLEASE HELP** .jar file?

Hey everyone, im pretty new to the java scene but I have a really quick question that hopefully someone can help me with.
I'm really interested in making a .jar file out of my code. And basically I just want to make one. but i understand there are certain things like main class's, etc. that need to be made in order to make a .jar file.
So basically Say I opened up a new project in blueJ. I made 1 new class called "main." Inside of it I had nothing for conductors and no variables declaired untill the bottom part where i write my code.
    say i write...
    System.out.println("hello");
    and that is it.
What steps from there do i do to make a jar file and have it be able to be executed and SEE the "hello" printed somewhere NOT in blueJ??
(I understand there is something about a "static" method? Im not really sure but if somoene could enlighten me on how to make a .jar file that would be great.)
    Thanks a lot everyone!
    Tom

I don't know anything about BlueJ, but this section of Sun's tutorial explains how to
write a program that outputs a single line of text to the console:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/getStarted/cupojava/win32.html
Deploying an application as an executable .jar file is covered here:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/deployment/jar/index.html
The first two sections - "Using JAR Files: The Basics" and "Working with Manifest
Files: The Basics" - contain the information you need to understand this process.

  • About to buy a Mac Pro, have quick question please.

    Hi all,
I am going to more than likely buy a Mac Pro 2.66 tonight or tomorrow, but I was wondering something in regards to graphics cars if any one could assist me.
I am planning to go with the ATI card and 2gigs of ram since I do some gaming on the side and plan to use bootcamp for that.
My question is that if I buy the machine in retail store, they do not credit the stock GeForce card and just add the ATI card in, so if I go that rout can both the ATI and Nvidia card both reside in the machine at the same time and be used in SLI mode?
EG: can I get the power of both cards or will I only be able to use the processing power of one card? If only one card then would I be better off configuring the machine online since they credit you the difference of the Nvidia card which saves roughly $150.00 off the order from doing it in a retail store?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am not worried about the $150.00, it would almost be worth it to spend the extra since the shipping time on the online configuration may end up costing almost the same unless I want to wait a few weeks for the machine.
Whats your thoughts on this? Is it worth it to buy in the store and use both cards or just buy online from apple and get the credit for the Nvidia card?
    Thanks in advance!

can both the ATI and Nvidia card both reside in the machine at the same time and be used in SLI mode
No… SLI requires two Nvidia SLI capable cards. In addition, SLI is not supported under Mac OS X although does work, apparently, under Windows and Boot Camp. ATi's comparable technology is CrossFire.
would I be better off configuring the machine online since they credit you the difference of the Nvidia card which saves roughly $150.00 off the order from doing it in a retail store?
Financially yes as the Nvidia card is ultimately useless to you. One consideration though is the CTO conditions of return, or lack there of, in case you receive a DOA. In the US, amongst other countries, CTo unit are not returnable even if they are DOA so you should check the terms of sale in the country store you would buy from.
    Whats your thoughts on this?
I, like many others, bought CTOs from the Apple Store so I don't think it's such a bad way to go. It also means you won't have any pressing need to open your new Mac Pro right away.
One thing you might want to consider though is to downgrade the standard 250GB hard drive to a 160GB drive and use the saving on a drive of your choosing. Apple tends to use OEM desktop drives that have unimpressive performance. The 160GB drive in my Mac Pro didn't even get turned on. It was a Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 if you're interested.

  • 2 quick question please?????

    hi
ive just got a macbook pro and have seen that people have changed there macintosh HD logo to a pic of there mac (I.e macbook pro), what program is used to change icon pictures?????
2nd question to check the temp of your macbook what programs is used?????
    thanks

to change icons, you can just select the HD (or any folder) and go to Get Info. The you do the same with a downloaded icon (get info). Now you can just copy the new icon and paste it into the icon preview of the HD's Info window. And there it is!
Alternatively you can create your own icons in Photoshop and through IconBuilder and CandyBar software apply them systemwide.
check Iconfactory for more on that:
    http://iconfactory.com/software
and for checking the temperature of your mac, you can use one of the many widgets for system stats.

  • Quick Question, Please He

I'm trying to set my sister up with her new Zen Nano Plus. This is the problem we are encountering. When she plugs in the MP3 to the USB cord, the screen on the MP3 shows the USB connection but nothing comes up on the computer screen for us to drag and drop files into.
I know with mine, when I plug it in the E: Removable Hardware (I think) comes up on my taskbar along the bottom of my screen.
I'm thinking that she might not have installed the entire CD that came with it.
Does anyone agree with that or could there possibly be another problem?
    Any suggestions wold be helpful.
    Thanks,

Another question for you...are you pretty good with figuring out problems on computers? Can I message you about something?
    Thanks!

  • Quick question-please answer.

Hello, I have a 13.3 inch Macbook. All I want is for me to be able to connect a cable from the laptop to the television(whether it's S-Video or with the red-white-yellow cables) and it will display what's on the screen. What products do this?
    Thanks!

    Hi
You need Apple's mini-DVI to video adaptor. I can't link to the apple store page, but search for "mini DVI video", and you'll find it. You can either run an S-video cable, or an RCA (the yellow part) out to your TV.
For audio, you can run a cable from your 3.5mm mini audio jack to the red and white stereo RCA inputs on your TV. Here's one at random; Monster Cable probably has a good version.

  • Quick question please re: iMac

Yippie! I've finally saved enough. . .Would you buy the standard 27" iMac now (Jan. 2012) or wait to see later this year?
    Thanks,
    Rusty

If you want one right now, buy one.  Otherwise wait for the next model perhaps with better specs.
Did not hear any news from Apple about future products.
Until Apple says something nobody here can say anything.
    Best.

  • Quick question please re: gain/mPress/adlimt

which order ? would it be staring from the top of the out channel. gain/multipressor/adaptive limiter ? thank you

That order is fine. You would want the AdLim at the end, regardless of how you do the other two. Mind you, considering that the Multipressor has gain capabilitites built in, you may not have a need for the gain plug-in.
Just remember to get the mix right first, before introducing any "mastering" plug-ins.

  • Quick Question PLEASE HELP!!!

How would I get the length of the array calling this? I tried this and that doesn't seem to work...
        public int numRows(){
            return this.length;
        }

    platypus1 wrote:
I have an array, sorry I am new to this stuff...but I want this to work on whatever array I call it on. So if i call myNums.numRows() or myArray.numRows() so that it returns the length of myNums or myArrayYou can't add a method to an array. You need to write a class that aggregates the array, and then you can write that method, and that method should then return myArray.length.
Another option is to make the method take an argument.

  • One very simple quick question please

I am needing to admin one computer from remote sites. As the admin computer will have different IP addresses each time I work, I don't imagine this will be a problem. However, which IP address should I use for the one client. The client machine is connecting through Qwest DSL, and has an external IP and a local IP. When I use the admin computer at the same location as the client, the external IP match and the local IP are different. How do I get to the correct machine when I am imagining that all of the Qwest DSL connected computers on the same node will have the same external IP. Can I "stack" IP's? - e.g. 123.111.11.182, 222.222.222.255 ?
Thanks in advance for all of your help.
    Al

Normally you use the externally-facing IP address Qwest will assign to the modem, or the IP address the router picks up if a router is in use. If a router is in use, you may also have to open the appropriate ports for ARD and forward them to the client's internal IP address.

Read the steps in the support article from which you came carefully as the order in which you follow them is  critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
If you are certain you're following the steps exactly as given and are creating a new Apple ID and still have problems, go here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.
