HT3798 my ipod classic didn't not reset properly yet it interupted inbetween and shows a cross symbol. Don't know what to do next help me out

there is a program called recboot. you can download it for free in two parts. one part takes your device out of recovery mode and the other puts it into recovery mode. ive used it before but it doesnt always work and you have to be patient. try it and tell me what happens

Do a Hard Reset
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
Then release the buttons
Select your preferred language.

If the sound is still the same, but ok, coming from the bottom Dock connector, then try cleaning the headport, using a jet of air or some electronic cleaner. -
My MBP didn't recognise my password, started it in safe mode, I can see my files, but I don't know what to do next, as the image of reset password isn't selectable. I just moved from PC. Need help please...
Safe mode is not what you want in this case. Reboot to recovery mode - hold down cmd-R as the Mac reboots. Go past the language-selection screen, click the Utilities menu, then Terminal. Type:
resetpassword
Followed by the return key, and follow the prompts. Reboot normally when done.

If it is plugged into a USB hub (or the spare keyboard port), try connecting it to a direct USB port.
Also, try doing this Reset procedure, while it is connect to power.

You could well be looking at a new iPod, but this will only cost you a couple of bucks, and a little time. Worth trying, but it maybe to late, (I just don't want to give you any false hope.) Turn your iPod off and leave it off, do not attempt to charge it or use until you dry your iPod out. Put it in a sealed bag of rice for at least 7 to 10 days. change the rice daily. If (and it's a "BIG" if) your lucky after drying the iPod it will start up when you turn on the power. You may need to charge it for at least 30 minutes to get some signs of life. If it does not turn on after charging attempt a reset, press and hold both the power and home buttons together for about 15 seconds until the Apple logo appears, then release both buttons. If your iPod turns on, check that all is working. If you get it to work the first thing you should be is back up everything on your iPod to your computer, no guarantee it will continue to work. Water does bad things to electronic toys. If it doesn't work your only out a couple of bucks, then it's time for new toys. You may want to look at replacing with a refurbished iPod, about 1/2 of new. Since installing iCloud, my iPhone 3GS no longer syncs with my Outlook2010 Calendar and Outlook2010 Contacts. I don't know what else to try, short of resetting the iPhone and completely reloading as a new device. Any ideas, anyone?
It's good to know. The Apple instructions for loading iCloud on a PC just seem to have either overlooked or hidden this limit. The larger problem is that it partially works: partially and erratically. So clean-up is great fun.

I have a laptop using OSX 10.5.8, iTunes v. 10.6.3 and Quicktime 7.7. iTunes will not open. It says it requires QuickTime 7.5.5 or later. I've tried reinstalling each of them. No success. Don't know what to try next.

Open Application > Utilities > System Profiler and check the Quicktime version in Frameworks vs. the version in Applications. One person had re-installed their operating system. It had kept the newer Player application but had reverted to an earlier version of the underlying support framework files which many applications utilize. Re-installing Quicktime 7.7 took care of the problem. Do this manually, not with Software Update.

What do you mean nothing happends? because after step 5/5 the sync is complete and it should go back to the normal top screen of itunes. Is this what is happning? of is it freezing on step 5?

I have plugged in my ipod into my windows computer, scanned and fixed it (which was recommended), now when I tried to sync it again, I couldn't because the memory was used up with 'other'. I don't know what this is and how I can get rid of it, I have no music, films, photos, contacts on it, so am completely stuck! Help me please!
A large amount of other usually signals corrupt software and/or files that were synced to the device. You'll need to restore the iPod via iTunse to reduce it down to a much much smaller size.

Ipod Classic (80g) Videos not synching properly!
Ok so my ipod works great except when you try and have videos on it. I have all the converters and stuff and sometimes it works fine and they go on and are all there. However... Sometimes the videos cut off after a minute or so when i play them on my ipod. I thought it might be a converter issue but they play all way trough in itunes, so it's something to do wiht the synch process I'm guessing.

Download each one of those videos and try to use the top article to sync them to your ipod.
If all of the videos work... its probably a problem with your converter.
make sure you are updating your ipod. Apple just released a new software version for classics when itunes 7.6 came out.
Also, restoring your ipod to factory settings by hitting that restore button in your summary screen may help wash out any glitches your ipod may have on it if the above info doesnt help you. -

You may have installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.

IPod Classic 120 G not syncing properly
To start off my ipod was working fine i had music video everything. I pluged it in one night to update some podcasts and it erased everything off my ipod and now won't let me sync anything on to it because my computer is telling my wrong volume in drive f (i think) So then i try to restore my ipod and an error pops up telling me unable to restore. I just got this ipod a week ago and its giving me more problems than my previous mp3s. Another error it tells me is that it is unable to read and copy to ipod. It starts syncing fine at first then the ipod stops syncing and the computer is still attempting to sync with the ipod. I ran through the WHOLE thing on troubleshooting about the usb drivers. Any help would be much appreciated.
When you ipod is connected, click on it in itunes and check each of the categories for it. It's possible it may be set up to only sync certain songs or playlists.
