HT3819 Homesharing Folder?

I have set up homesharing on my and my husbands computers but I can't see a folder to transfer any files to. In "File" is says homesharing is connected, but in the "Side menu" there are no shared folders. How can I set this up please?

Sounds like you need to start again with Home Sharing
1 File > Home Sharing Turn off home sharing on both nachines
2 File > Home Sharing > Create Home Share enter the same Apple ID and password on both machines
It should now appear in the left hand panel
If you still do not see the Orange House under the shared section then try

I have tried everything I could to fix this, but some things require actually being on Firefox, and since I cannot get on, I cannot click on the tabs to do it. I have even totally uninstalled firefox, and that has not fixed this. I still get the same message that firefox is running and I need to close it or restart (which I have also tried dozens of times). I have removed things like Java, and that has not helped either. If I cannot even get on line in firefox, how can I fix this. I am not crazy about using internet explorer, but right now, it is my only option. I even tried to start in safe mode, and the same message box pops up!

How do I share an app from one Itunes account and computer to another iphone and computer Itunes account using Homeshare?

If you connect it you will be asked if you want to sync it to this computer which will while your exisiting data on the phone. Just say no. You will not be able to sync the phone to her computer if it is already tied to another computer.

This is going to sound dumb but, I was trying to set up home sharing for my sister and I. I set it up as per the steps on the website. I dont know if I was supposed to select music or anything after that but I didn't and closed the page. Now the icon is gone. How do I share my music with her?

From the Dock?
Open the Applications folder. Launch Safari from there.
When you see the Safari icon in the Dock far right side, press and hold the icon then click Options > Keep in Dock.

HT3819 HOMESHARING NO WORK

I want to use homesharing. I have homesharing turned on on both computers and have the icons appear under sharing. However I have no big old import button after selecting the songs and copy pasting it doesn't work either. I have iTunes version 10.5.2 on my oldish Macbook Pro (where the songs are coming from) and my iMac which has iTunes 10.7. What gives?

Unfortunately, there is no answer for me here. Itunes on my PC has homesharing turned on, all devices have the latest software (itunes, pad, iphone and apple TV 2nd and 3rd Gen) and homesharing turned on and yet none of the devices can see my itunes library. This was not previously the case and I have checked the network connectivity and all devices are visible on my home network and all devices can see the itunes store etc. across the internet.
I can only therefore deduce that it is itunes on the PC that is at fault or homesharing has changed to using a different port that is blocked on my router by default (which I can't see being the case otherwise everybody would be having the same problem).
I have tried rebooting all devices and my router and I have tried a total wipe and restart of my apple TV but all to no avail.

i <3 Homesharing. I enabled it at home, and where I work I use a mac so I enabled it on that computer as well so I can listen to my own music library while on breaks/lunch =)

Homeshare not appearing under Music/Film/TV

I have recently purchased a new Windows 8,1 laptop PC which is in addition to an existing Windows 7 desktop PC which runs Itunes.
I attempted to set up a Homeshare arrangement for the Itunes library. This worked brilliantly and i was able to play music on Itunes in the new laptop. I then shutdown the laptop as I needed to go out, The bad news started on my return.
When I switched on the laptop and went into Itunes, it started upoading when i went into Homeshare so i thought good grief I am going to have to wait for the entire library being downloaded every time I open the laptop. Then I reconciled myself to that and looked on the positive side that at least I would have an itunes library once it completed,
Then came the really bad news. When i came back to the laptop and clicked on the Music/Film etc arrow, there was no sign of Homeshare, just Music, Film and TV. I checked in File/Homesharing that homesharing was still on and it was. I tried switching it off then switching it back on but still no sign of Homeshare,
Can you suggest any solution to this problem

I perhaps should have mentioned that the Itunes library and other data being homeshared are definitely available on the laptop and can be clearly seen in file explorer,
What may contribute to the problem is that my existing Itunes library is held on the F drive because the C drive is SSD and is mainly reserved for software. This probably has absolutely nothing to do with the problem but i thought i would mention it anyway

Then stop trying to use HomeShare and use one of the other options listed in the document from which your question was posted.

I turned HomeSharing on, but I do not see a shared folder or icon!

I have turned HomeSharing from iTunes on my Desktop (iMac), Laptop (Mac BookPro), iPhone, and iPod touch, but I still cannot see any shared folders, files or icons on either of them? I have a Cisco router though, through which the network at my home works. Could this be the issue?

All I have is "Library, Store, Devices, Genius and Playlists". The "Shared" option as show in this screenshot is not visible

I find plenty of articles about homesharing on iTunes between computers, but not between two different user accounts on the same iMac. Any advice or direction to an existing artical is greatly appreciated. I'm knew to the Mac and still have Windows on the brain.
I am trying to share iTunes music and movie purchases between my user login and my wife's.

From things you are saying, such as "shared folder" and having both machines on, it doesn't sound to me like you truly moved the whole iTunes collection.

do not confuse moving your whole folder and library with moving just media files as in

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.
