HT3819 What about sharing on a work computer? I have a home pc, a work pc, and an iphone and I'd like to share between the 3, can I?

What about sharing on a work computer? I have a work pc, home pc, and iPhone. I'd like to share on all three.

So if I brought my work pc home, and we were side by side, would my music exchange between them?
Yep, if they're on the same network and the Home Share has been set up on both using the same ID, you should be good to go.
So I have an iPhone why isn't all the stuff on my home PC on my iPhone?
Which computer is the Phone synced to? (Remember, you can stream music to the iPhone via Home Sharing, but you can't sync or transfer music to the iPhone via Home Sharing.)

Good luck and you are welcome.
Like I said, I bought one of their inexpensive enclosures and now can use the hard drive just as a source for the files that are on it...my external drives are much larger and faster so I just plug that drive in when I need something from it.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if AAS won't install normally.

Firefox also makes regular backups of your bookmarks in a folder named bookmarkbackups in your personal settings folder. You can restore the backup to your new Firefox, but unlike importing the HTML-format file, it is a complete drop-in replacement, so if you have saved new bookmarks you do not want to lose, the export/import method may work better for you.
By default, Windows hides your personal settings folder so the easiest way to access it is from inside Firefox. You can use either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
    * (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
    * type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button. This will launch a window showing your Firefox settings files.
You might want to back up this whole folder if you have other data you want to preserve from your XP computer.
Either way, you should find the bookmarkbackups folder here and when you click into it, find maybe 10 files with dates in their names.
The procedure to restore the file once you have it on removable media or some other convenient place is described in this article: [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]].
Regarding the other files and what you might find of use: [[Recovering important data from an old profile]].

What can I do to fix this besides bring it to the store? it also bugs me because this answer was supposed to work but it just messed my phone up even more. This has already happened once and i had to take it to the store. What should I do to fix this? Thank you so much for all answers. i really appreciate.

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

I have an Apple ID created recently for my new iPhone and have also updated it in my old iPad...my iTunes account on my Windows Vista comuputer still has the old Apple ID....how do I change the old Apple ID to the new one on my computer iTunes account?

It looks like the article below has the information you are looking for.

    Turn off iCloud completely
Depending on whether you want to stop using iCloud on all or only some devices, do one or more of the following:
On your iOS device’s Home screen, go to Settings > iCloud, then at the bottom of the screen, tap Delete Account.
Note:   If you delete your iCloud account, iCloud will no longer back up your iOS data. You can still back up your device in iTunes (for more information, open iTunes and choose iTunes > Help).
On your Mac, open iCloud preferences, then click Sign Out.
If your Mac has OS X v10.7.5 and you turn off iCloud, your calendar information and reminders aren’t stored locally in iCal. If you want to retain your calendar and reminder information, you need to back it up before turning off iCloud. For more information, see the Apple Support article iCloud: Calendar & reminder data removed from Calendar and Reminders or iCal when disabling iCloud Calendar.
On your Windows computer, open the iCloud Control Panel, then click Sign Out.
Note:   If you turned on automatic download of music, app, or book purchases (in iTunes preferences or in Settings on your iOS device), your iTunes purchases are still downloaded to your devices.
Set up iCloud on your devices

  • How do I get all my music from icloud to my itunes on my computer and my iphone and stop using icloud?

how do I get all my music from icloud to my itunes on my computer and my iphone and stop using icloud?

    Hi,
You music is not in your iCloud account, it is in iTunes in the Cloud. Whether you use iCloud personally or not, it will not have an effect on the iTunes in the Cloud functionality. If you are using iTunes, then all of your purchases through iTunes will use iTunes in the Cloud as a backup for your purchases.
    Cheers,

Connect it to a computer running iTunes and restore it.

  • Is it possible to sync an iPhone to one mac for music only and another mac for everything else? What about shared iPhoto?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to manage my iphone and that of my wife.
Our set up is that we share music that is on my imac under my apple store id.  We also like to have all of our photos in iphoto on that imac.
She has her own macbook and I'd like to use icloud to sink her personal bookmarks, calendar and other stuff.
I've thought about seeing if I could set her phone up to sync with icloud as appropriate, turn on wireless sync on her imac for syncing everything but music, then sync that same iphone on the imact but just sync music.
I've tried to point her macbook to my imac itunes library and that doesn't seem to be working very well.
The other wrinkle is that she is taking photos on her iphone that I'd like to show up in our shared iphoto library and photo stream.  Currently we have our individual icloud apple ids so we may sync our own bookmarks and such and we use a separate "store" id for music and apps and such.  I'm not sure I see a way for me to merge iphotos into a shared library/stream?
    1.  Any thoughts on the best way to manage two iphones, each with their own computer, but a shared music library?
    2. Any thoughts on the best way to merge iphoto?
I've been experimenting with setups and I have a feeling folks with more experience have probably worked this out better than the way I'm thinking of doing.
    Thanks.

  • ICloud Drive, what about sharing contacts with my older iOS devices?

Hi folks, I have finally upgraded my Macbook Pro to Yosemite and my iPhone 5S to iOS 8 and Monday will be the promising iOS 8.1.
During the process I have been offered to also update my iCloud account to iCloud Drive.
Sounds cool and necessary to benefit from a few extra features however I still own and use a iPhone 3GS and another iPhone 4.
It's clear that with iCloud Drive I won't be able to share documents among those devices; I can live with that but what about my contacts, calendars and Safari bookmarks not to mention Photos and iTunes Match, would that be the end of it or would those later services still be shared among older and newer devices?
I can't see it clearly stated among iCloud Drive specs and now I am hesitating with the update..
    P

Hi randers4, your explanation convinced me and I have made the plunge and upgraded to iCloud Drive.
It works as you explained, all other services such as Safari Bookmarks, Reminders, Contacts and keep syncing data among them. Nice.
It will be interesting however, how custom folders and files, will share among different users.
Haven't found much documentation on that either but suspect the mechanism won't be as refined as in DropBox.
For instance: as far as I can see, I can't create/copy a link to one specific folder I have created but have to use either Mail, Messages, or one of the SocialMedia I have registered on the Mac.
But perhaps I should start a new topic on this
    Thanks and regards

  • Work computer to Ipod to Home computer?

Hate to be an idjut, but I downloaded all my stuff on my computer at work to my Ipod, bought a new computer today, and want to transfer from my Ipod to my new computer, I just wiped out everything on the Ipod trying it but I can get it all back at work, what's the easy way?
    thanks

i think the easiest way would be to create a playlist on the computer that you want to take your library from....and transfer your entire library to that playlist. next go to edit and choose preferences. than click on the advanced tab, and then the burning settings. change the burn format to data cd and burn the playlist with your whole library. each disc will hold anywhere from 130 to 150 songs at a time. do this until the library is burnt. it might be helpful to number the discs when burning. then take to the new computer with itunes and import the entire disc one by one. when you are done just hook up the ipod and tell it you want to make that the library for that ipod and youre done....ps you may have to authorize the new computer for purchased itunes music and you may want to change the burn setting back to audio cd when done

  • Websites work on my work computer, but not at home?

I have an iMac G5 20" 2.0GHz OSX 10.4.7 at work running Safari 2 that will open any website I want, but when I get home and try to open the same websites on my iMac G5 20" 2.1GHz OSX 10.4.7 running Safari 2, they don't open.
I don't believe the sites are just down at the same time everyday. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Jason,
If you would like to turn on the built-in firewall on your Mac, you could do the followings:
    1. Select System Preferences
    2. Under the Internet & network section, select Sharing
    3. Select the Firewall tab, click on the Start button to turn it on. You also may want to enable the Stealth mode by click on the Advanced... button
There is a couple of services that you may want to enable while you are configuring the network sharing, I normally turn on SSH and FTP for remote access.

  • Calendar synch with work computer, Music synch with home?

I love my new iPod touch. I want to use it as both a music library and as a PDA, but that seems to be the rub.
My music library doesn't belong on my work computer, it belongs on my home computer. My work calendar belongs only on my work computer. I don't really want to put work email on my work computer, only my calendar.
Work calendar is in Microsoft Outlook 2003 on a PC.
Can this be done? Please tell me yes. If yes, please tell me how.

Yes, it can. In iTunes on your home computer, with the IPT connected, click the Info tab and make sure the calendar sync option is not checked. Install iTunes for Windows on your work PC. Connect your IPT. Do not let it auto-sync (click No at the prompt). The IPT will mount in iTunes, go through the tabs and make sure options to sync music/movies/TV shows are UNchecked. In the Info tab check the box to sync your Outlook calendar.
Now, when you connect to your work PC your calendar will sync, and when you connect to your home PC your music/videos will sync.
Note that you can't sync emails regardless - checking the box to sync mail accounts syncs +just the settings+, not the emails themselves.
    Hope this helps...
