They can be paired, but you need to be using suitably equipped apps that support peer-to-peer Bluetooth functions - such as multi-player games, photo sharing apps etc.
They can also be paired to headphones, speakers, car stereos, headsets etc.

My iPhone and iPad have all of sudden started not connecting to my apple router; but they connect fine on the guest n/w I've created on the same router? What version of Outlook? What version of iOS do you have on the iPhone? What version of iTunes? Can you think of anything different that you did in Outlook when this ability to sync stopped, i.e. new appointment, recurring appointment, etc.? Have you recently done any updates or installed new software to the computer? Are you aware that all support for XP stops in about 60 days? What troubleshooting steps have you taken?

I have bought itunes songs on an ipad with my daughter apple id. i would like to back them up on the same computer I sync my iphone with using my apple id but they will not transfer. Both iphone and ipad have only been synced on the computer mentioned since they were purchased. Is there any way to get the ipad music transferred to the computer?
And they were definitely purchased from the iTunes store, they show on the account's purchase history (Store > View Account on a computer's iTunes, or you can view the last 90 days purchases via http://reportaproblem.apple.com) ?
You could potentially log into the account on that computer's iTunes (Store > Sign Out to log out of your account, that will then change to a Store > Sign In option) and redownload them by clicking on the id towards the top right of the iTunes screen and Purchased on the popup :

Or do you have a different computer that you could redownload them on and then copy them over to that computer via a flash drive or memory card, and then add them to its iTunes via File > Add To Library ? -

While doing the backup via iTune, my contacts in iPhone AND iPad have been completely wiped out. They are still all available on my Address Book on my Mac. Any idea what happened and how to resolve this ?

IPhone and iPad can no longer connect to iTunes Libary via Remote
Up until a couple of hours ago, I had no problems controlling iTunes on my MacBook Pro via my iPhone or iPad. Now, on both devices, I get an error saying it can't connect to my Library.
All devices are connected to the same network. I get the error whether my firewall is on or off. I have tried re-adding the Library. When I do so the relevant device shows up in iTunes and the pairing process SEEMS to work. It tells me that my iPhone can now control my library, but it still can't connect.
I've tried rebooting the router.
All devices show the same ip address for the router and all are on the same subnet.
I've just upgraded iTunes to 10.2.1 and everything on the iPhone and iPad has the latest upgrades.
Also when I go to the iPod app on my iPhone and go to More -> Shared -> and then my library, I get an error saying "Cannot Connect to Media Libary"
I've seen this advice, "You must also have the iTunes preference "Look for iPod touch, iPhone and iPad Remotes" enabled. " I cannot find this preference anywhere. It's not something I've ever looked for before so possibly the name of it has changed in a recent iTunes release. Can anyone tell me if I'm looking for the right thing and where I might find it?

Why do my iPhone and iPad decide, one day (and its always when you're traveling; the little bastards), to remove music from their libraries?
I'm looking at my iPad right now and it barely has a single album worth of songs. I know I can get the songs back from the cloud, but how do I get it so that I don't have to do that all the time?
My Mac keeps its music, so why do iPhones and iPads keeps removing them? I'm not doing anything special, just the "sync ALL my stuff to iOS" usual.iTunes match will stream them like pandora (just for example). If you toggle it on and off should help also from itunes on your computer with your music select store then update itunes match as well just to make sure your items are still on the cloud and matched. Once your music is showing on your device and you are connected to the internet should be able to play back with no issues, also you will see little clouds next to the songs that you can tap to download them to the device directly to play when you are off line or not connected to the internet.

Gmail push notifications very erratic on iPhone and iPad

The push notifications on my iPhone and iPad have become very erratic but ONLY for my gmail account. My work exchange account is working fine, in fact flawless.
Symptons: I will receive an email that I can clearly see on gmail.com, but will wait for my iPhone and iPad to notify me and nothing. I'l wait several minutes and still nothing. I wake my iphone and check mail and have to manually pull down to refresh my email. It's not all the time though, it's very sporadic. For instance, if I wait long enough they will eventually show on my lock screen, but it can be several minutes to a half hour or more.
I only noticed this the past few days and I'm almost positive that I just upgraded both my iPad and iPhone to 6.1.2 just last week. I am not sure if I can sum this up to "happening right after the upgrade to 6.1.2" or not. However, it does seem to be a strong coincidence that I just upgraded and now I'm having the problem.
I have both my iPhone and iPad notifications set up the same way for both my email accounts and both have always worked fine and both have become erratic within the last few days. I have not changed any settings. I notice this both when I'm on cellular and when I'm home on my wifi network.
Is this something others are experiencing? Strange that it's both my iPhone and iPad and no settings have changed.

...clearly states that if you were an existing sync customer, you should have no problems. Well, I guess they are sort of trying to "push" people to the new CardDAV. I guess I'll bite and try it out tonight. I am a very old google sync user (iphone 3G, 4 and 4S) and have not changed anything, so from this article I should be fine. Well, I'm not.
I'll definitely try the "new" way and let you all know tonight (or tomorrow morning) how it's going.

Support for exchange active sync was dropped by Google for free accounts on Jan 30 of 2013. Apple was prepared for that since November of last year, you can check date on that article.

Since Gmail still using Card Dav protocol, it allows new devices to sync Contacts. Google mail account takes care of emails and calendars sync by itself. It does have to do with push (you dead on), cause exchange supports push on whole other level, but it has nothing to do with your case. The information that I gave in my first post still stands. It looks like you think you know more then all people that responded to you, but (sorry, still feeling entitled to my humble opinion) you will see your push fixed by itself. Even funnier if you will make some change and it will coincide with google server back online. You will come here and provide us with your "fix".
Perhaps it will be something like "I just changed show emails from 100 to 200."

The way it works is simple. We do not realize, but google server actually knows what device is connecting to their server to pick mail. I had to replace my wife's ipad on Feb 7. Even when I restored from the icloud back up that for all intents and purposes made that ipad very similar - the account was still there, but simple gmail without exchange. Deleting account and re adding as exchange didn't provide solution. It just showed up as gmail. They even changed server name from m.google.com to google.com.
BTW it is quite possible that aTanasi's trick will fix the problem. I had to start running yahoo and gmail apps running on the background. I do not use them, but if there is a problem with account, like security kicks in harder, app is more capable to address that issue and informs me of what is wrong. I still find native mail app more pleasant, but thanks and credit to aTanasi.
