3GS iphone with version 3.1.3 - I want to upgrade the ISO
I have a 3GS Iphone with the original version 3.1.3 system on it and firmware 05.12.01. I would like to upgrade it. I had to update to itunes 11 and I am just getting the option of iso 6 when I select the update. It takes forever for anything to happen so I have cancelled it. Is there any tips or help someone could give me. Thanks.
It is only possible to upgrade to the most current version of iOS which is 6.0.1 for the 3GS.

I can't update my 3gs iPhone through itunes as it says I need to download latest versions which I've done so I'm in a loop. I'm using a Macbook Pro 10.5.8
Ahhh, the mysteries of software updating...glad it is working for you now. Sometimes you just have to be persistent until iTunes figures out you aren't going to go away.
So, are you now updating the iPhone to iOS 5.0.1?
If you already have 5.0 and a wireless connection you don't need to use iTunes to update to 5.0.1...the wireless update only means a file of about 38 MB, while via iTunes it is the entire iOS and about 730 MB...big time difference.

I updated my 3GS iphone to 5.0.1 yesterday. I can make calls and send messages, but cannot recieve calls or messages. I called telstra as I instantly thought network problems. My friends and family who are also on telstra have not had network issues. I thought it was strange that this has only occurred after updating my software?? I have restored my phone, reset network settings and still nothing!! Is anyone else experiencing anything similar?
