HT3924 iTunes not working anymore while using screen in Target Mode

Hi, I use this feature a lot when working from home, as my company laptop is only 12.5" it's nice with the 27" screen. This has always worked out great, but recently (not sure if it started after Moutain Lion upgrade), I'm not anymore able to listen to my iTunes music (running in the background), when moving to "target display mode".
Immediately after pressing cmd+F2, and moving to external mode, the music starts skipping...
It happens with iTunes, Spotify, MPlayerX...
I tried to turn off "always put harddrives to sleep while possible" but this didn't help.
I tried to listen to music stored on different HDDs, didn't help.
Anyone found a fix, or need to wait for new OS update?

Hi, Hilary. The backlight in your Powerbook's display isn't working. That's most likely caused by an inverter failure, rather than a failure of the backlight itself (which is very rare). The inverter supplies power to the backlight, and sometimes it just fails. Repairing the hard drive won't fix it, and closing the display while loading pictures from a camera didn't cause it. It just failed, and now it needs to be replaced. Don't bother with any of the FireWire Target Disk Mode stuff you've been trying — just take the machine in for service.

To rule out a software issue, try to set it up as new device, without using the latest backup, explained in this article:

Check the settings:
Press FN+F9 or hotkey to turn on touchpad.
If the problem persists then enter the BIOS and make sure BIOS is set to default.

ITunes not working anymore

Kia ora, I just downloaded a new version of itunes and quicktime. after this itunes no longer works it comes up with the following message:
iTunes requires Windows 2000 or later. Please make sure compatibility mode is disabled in the Compatabilty Tab of properties for iTunes.exe.
Firstly, I have Windows XP and secondly I could not find find itunes.exe. Any help would be very appreciated.

Disconnect the iPad, do a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is 'appsolutely' safe!, reconnect and follow the prompts.

Everything besides the screen is completely fine-the screen will not recognize my finger anymore. I am not trying to fix the phone, but I need to have my contacts. The pictures have already synced, but I need my password to do a full backup. Unfortunately, I can't type in my password. Is there any way around it? If I take my phone to the apple store, will they be able to help me? I am not willing to replace the screen just to do this, however, so that is out of the question.

Someone else may have a workaround, but, as far as I know, if you cannot interact with the screen on the iPhone, there is no way to unlock it so you can get to your contacts.
Were you saving them to iCloud by chance? If so, you can restore them to your new phone.

Thanks, for info, iPod Classic is a slower machine compared the Nano, unfortunately, if you read these discussions, majority of the freezes involved iTunes 10. Although if might be just slow and some impatient user just disconnect the iPod ands cause more problems. ( Yes I also did that but safely by doing a iPod Hard Reset, before disconnecting).

Antivirus has a tendency to freeze iTunes sync Operation with iPod Classic, causing a timeout, which corrupt your iPod filesystem, so when iTunes can't read the iPod, it is pointing to this problem. Other causes is when your iPod hardisk is dying, or your battery is dying causing hardisk crashes.
My suggestion.
Connect your iPod to the PC and run chkdsk, to fix any iPod diskerror, then disconnect it, after chkdsk complete.
Disconnect your PC from Internet. (just to make sure no nasties creep into your system while you syncing.
Stop the Antivirus program
Connect your iPod to the PC, using a high speed USB 2.0 port at the back of your PC, do not use any USB Hub.
When iTunes Open up, Restore your iPod please, this is for iTunes to map correctly, to fix the corrupted filesystem.
When Restore complete, eject the iPod and reconnect again.
Sync your ipod, preferably manually Manage in small batches and disconnect after every batch, to check that all is well.
When all sync is complete, and iPod disconnected, start back your Antivirus and connect back the Internet.

Please try:
Keep Ctrl + Alt + Shift keys pressed while launching PSE13 Editor and click OK on the dialog that comes next.

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
    b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
     Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
     COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
     computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
     screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
     Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).
4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).

I updated iTunes to 10.5 and now in my Netgear Stora iTunes server is not working anymore.
Configuration: OSX Lion with Server, iTunes 10.5, latest firmware for the Stora.
Can this be confirmed to be a bug introduced with 10.5 ?
I also saw some people mentioning the same problem on Synology NAS.
Seems like the 10.5 uodate broke something.

Definitely seems to be a cross-platform bug in iTunes 10.5 concerning all NAS disks. Shared libraries on network drives worked fine under 10.4.1, but now there is just an endless loading cycle with no error message or time-out. There is a bit more about it in this thread.

What exactly is the problem?
The iTunes App on your iPad is a portal to the iTunes Store for music and videos. It needs a connection to the internet (either WiFi or cellular) to work.
To play music on your iPad, use the Music App. To play videos on your iPad, use the Videos App.
