HT3939 A1387 iPhone 4S is GSM or CDMA??

When I bought this phone from Apple Store I was told this able to handle BOTH system!! Is it right? Can I activate it on Verizon and T-mobile at the same time? It would be nice feature to use cdma where T-mobile not cover.
Thanks:
Steve

In a nutshell, your plan will work, but I'd recommend using Verizon as your primary provider unless you have some awesome deal for sevice that costs less than $50 a month.
Only a phone intended for use on Verizon's network can be used on Verizon. An unlocked phone purchased from the Apple Store will not work on Verizon.

If you want to use a CDMA carreir that does not carry the iPhone, then you will have to choose. Either do not use an iPhone, or use a GSM carrier.
Or You can use GPP/gevey/Ultrasim solution. But there are issues like short battery life.

  • How to find which model of iPhone 5 I am using? and is that GSM or CDMA?

How to find which model of iPhone 5 I am using? A1428 or A1429 ? Is there any short code you can dial in and check the model number ?
And which is GSM or CDMA out of this model.

If you purchased the phone in the US with an AT&T contract then you have the locked CDMA A1428 version of the iPhone 5.
At the moment and if the contract is a new contact, then you won't be able to get the phone unlocked at the moment and no, you won't be able to use it in your home country.  You will also have LTE 4G compatibility issues too and your phone will only work on 3G and also you need to remember that iPhones are only covered by country specific warranty, so it is only covered in the US, so if you go home and then have a problem with your phone, you will have to come back to the US to get it repaired.
You need to approach AT&T about whether they will unlock your phone for you as they are the ONLY ones that can do it, but the answer to your question is no and if you had wanted to use your phone at home, then you should not have purchased it in the US.  The best that you can hope for at the moment is to use it on international/roaming.
If you purchased your phone in the US, then it will be a CDMA phone.  You don't have a GSM phone, but GSM phones are unlocked anyway and these are the ones that are selling in Canada and the UK.
If you have your phone on an AT&T contract then ultimately, AT&T are the only ones who can help you with any questions regarding unlocking and they are the only ones who can unlock it for you, noone else.

  • IPhone 5 - GSM to CDMA?

I'm on Verizon, but I'm stuck with a GSM iPhone 5. I was on vacation when a relative from overseas thought my current phone looked shabby, and bought the 5 for me.. Unfortunately, the IMEI can't be recognized by Verizon, as it is most likely a GSM phone.
Is there anything I, Apple, or Verizon can do to switch the phone from GSM to CDMA? I realize other carriers such as AT&T can accept GSM phones, but I don't care to switch carriers because of a phone someone gave me as a gift.
Just to clarify--not all iPhone 5's are made the same, right? There is a physical internal difference between Verizon-approved iPhones, and GSM iPhones? It's not like I could get my tech-genius cousin to tinker around and get it to work, I'd actually need to change some physical network receptor in the phone?
Is there anything to be done other than switching carriers or selling it on Craigslist? Like I said, it was purchased abroad through am authorized reseller, so on don't think any Apple stores could help me.. I basically have a $600 brick sitting in my room lol.

You already posted your answer, sell it on Craigslist use that money towards a new Verizon iPhone. You can make a Genius Bar appointment at the Apple Store or call AppleCare and ask to be transferred to Customer Service, but the answer will still probably be no.

  • Does the iphone 5s A1533 works at GSM and CDMA?

My IPhone Was Purchased From USA.

CDMA does not use a SIM card for its network connection information (only for LTE data connection).  So a CDMA iPhone has to be pre-programmed for a specific CDMA network, and will only ever work on that one CDMA carriers network.
So if you have a USA CDMA A1533 it will only ever work on the specific USA CDMA carrier it was sold for.  If its GSM SIM slot is unlocked, then it will work with other GSM carriers, but it will never connect to any CDMA carrier other then that one carrier it was pre-programmed for.
The GSM only A1533 (AT&T and T-Mobile) has no CDMA capability at all.

  • Greetings. Do you know if an unlocked Iphone 5S can switch from CDMA to GSM with a sim card, or if you have to choose one capacity or the other when you buy the phone?  Many thanks.

  • HT3939 Gsm and cdma inquiry in Middle east

which iPhone model support the both gsm and cdma  in middle east ??

Yemen is not listed as there are no LTE networks, as per this Apple Doc.
Also that Apple do not sell iPhones in Yemen, officially.
Moreover, CDMA iPhones are for a specific operator whereas GSM unlocked iPhones are available.
Please remember, Warranty and out-of-warranty services of iPhones are provided by Apple in the country of sale only.

I HAVE AN IPHONE 5 A1429. MY ITUNES IDENTIFIED AS (GLOBAL) VERSION BUT USE A SIM CARD. IT'S MY IPHONE GSM OR CDMA AND CAN I USE FOR AT&T?

If you are able to use the iPhone with sim cards from different carriers so you know it is unlocked, then it should work with an AT and T sim with the permission of AT and T.

  • HT3939 Does iPhone 5s hav unlocked CDMA phone with no sim tray for india???

I want to buy an iPhone 5s without sim tray CDMA phone on reliance network. Is it available??? Where can i get it?

No such thing as an unlocked CDMA phone. All iPhone 5S contain a SIM, for LTE support. CDMA phones have to be locked to their carrier because of the way they are activated on the CDMA side.

  • Does my iphone 4s support GSM service?  I recently upgraded to this smartphone from a AT

Does my iphone 4s support GSM service?  I recently upgraded to this smartphone from an AT&T Non-smartphone and now I am not able to access data coverage at my cabin upnorth. AT&T says I only have GSM coverage in this location.  Is there something I can do to make my iphone 4s do to pick this service up?

That model shows as non-CDMA iPhone 4s
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3939?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
It will support GSM. You will have to work with your carrier to
get the signal improved. In the past, with AT&T, if you complained
enough they would provide you with a MiFi device - but that only
helps if you have an internet connection already in place.
Your problem may be due to the remote location - particularly if you
are not in cell phone range due to lack of towers. But the responsibility
belongs to the AT&T. Is the problem that you can make/get phone
calls but do not have enough bandwidth for streaming video/audio?
Or is there no connection whatsoever?

  • What is the best  Gsm or cdma iphone5 ?

what is the best  Gsm or cdma iphone5 ?

All iPhones (with the exception of the iPhone 4 CDMA) will work on any GSM network worldwide as long as the device is unlocked.
LTE coverage is limited by the carriers roll-out and the model of iPhone. The A1428 is designed to use the LTE bands used by North American GSM carriers.  The A1429 utilizes the LTE bands used in the rest of the world.

  • IPhone 5 a4129 GSM

Will my iPhone 5 A4129 GSM (hong Kong) work in Mexico Queretaro with LTE (Telcel)?  It looks like the A4128 GSM will, but it is unclear if A4129 GSM.

I have an unlocked iphone 5 (A1429). Did A LOT of research on US carriers and band support, figured it would only work in EDGE.
However, after purchasing a NET10 AT&T simcard it showed 4G. With 3 signal bars out of 5, the download speed was 5.2 Mbps, upload 0.8 Mbps.
Any idea how this can be?
In the settings menu I can enable or disable the LTE switch, it still shows 4G...
Yes. AT&T calls their HSPA+ service "4G". They call LTE "LTE". So you are getting HSPA+, and 5.2 Mbps is within the range for HSPA+ (it goes up to 7.2 Mbps).
