hy,i have iphon 3gs with 4.1 operating and i want to update it with ios4.3 how can i do that?need ur help....
If you really have a 3GS, plug it in, iTunes running, on the Summary Pane, hit the "Check for Updates" button. iOS 6.0.1 will be installed on your phone.
There is no official way to install any other iOS version on your phone, other than iOS 6.0.1.
You need to use the computer your phone normally syncs with. Ignore Simple Apple's advise as you will lose ALL of your data if you follow it.

That's exactly how it's supposed to work. You can only sync with one (1) iTunes library at a time. Syncing with a different one requires erasing the media and re-syncing.

Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network. -
I want to update my iphone which has 6.1 to iOS7. Can I do it thru the service center or do I need to do it on my own. Updating at home is lot more inconvinient as the internet connection is not stable.
To add to templeton advice, you need at least 3.5 GB free space to update directly from iPhone.
And don't forget to make a backup at home before you proceed. -
my freind has no pc or laptop but wants to update his iphone. if he plugs it in and trys to update with my itunes will he lose all his paid for apps and music that hes brought from itunes
The issue I see is iTunes will complain that the phone has never been synced with that library before and will want to erase it. There may be various ways of dealing with that since apps and music can probably be downloaded a second time. Here's some general backup information:

Generally this is a sign that the iPhone had previously been
hacked/modified/jailbroken and the update relocked it to the
original wireless carrier. If this is the case, only that wireless
carrier can unlock your iPhone. You must contact them to see
if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.

What wireless carrier did you use before this problem?
Does the app Cydia appear on your iPhone?
What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>
About=>Carrier?
