HT3964 My iMac is approx 3 years old. It suddenly won't power up. It was plugged in through a power surge preventer but there seems now to be no life at all. The fuse in the plug is fine.

iMac that won't power on, any advice please?

If there are no sounds or video at all it seems the power supply is dead. Take the machine in for service at your local Apple Store or AASP. Then when it's repaired connect the machine to  a uninterruptible power supply, you can purchase a good quality one for less than $100 at your local office supply store.
