so is SMC will solve this problem?
and is SMC will not delete my data?

An SMC reset should not delete any data but it's very important to backup your files on a timely basis regardless.
An SMC may help with the battery charging issue.

Hi my MacBook is freezing whenever I try to open an application. I have tried resetting the system management controller, however no success. How can I wipe my hardrive and reinstall it again. PS: I no longer have the installation CDs, can I download it from Apple?

To get replacement installation disks, call Apple.  Have the serial number of your MBP ready and a credit card.  There is a fee.

  • Reset System Management Controller after changing battery?

I am planning to change my battery. A friend told me that I should reset the power management system, which I assume meant the System Management Controller, in order to reset the battery cycles. Is this correct and how do I do it?

The battery cycle info is contained within the circuitry of the battery. It won' hurt to reset the SMC but it isn't required

  • NVIDIA nForce System Management Controller: Windows 7 driver?

I have a Fujitsu Siemens PC, Amilo Desktop Pi 3630 A, running Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit,
which I would like to update (preferably without reinstall) to Windows 7.
When I checked Fujitsu's website and also by mail contact, I only got the response
"Your system is not certified for Windows 7"!
So I ran "Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor", which said that I can upgrade!
The only issue is that it requires an update to the driver for the
"NVIDIA nForce System Management Controller" [current version is 5.1.2600.158],
but Microsoft directs me to THIS site.
Here I search for a suitable driver for my motherboard, which according the tech spec's is
MB MS-7504PV (or MS-7504VP-PV) with chipset NVIDIA nForce 630i,
but no luck there. The MSI Live Update Online plug-in does not find anything on my Mainboard.
Over at NVIDIA's site I can find a driver for nForce 630i but only paired with GeForce 7xxx,
and I don't think I need a complete motherboard driver package.
Where can I find the correct driver?
Or do I dare try a Windows 7 update anyway?
    What can go wrong?
PC: Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Desktop Pi 3630 A
    CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33GHz

    BIOS: AMI v3.0S
    Video: NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit

You do not have an MSI Retail Product but a mainboard produced exclusively for the OEM Market.  Neither MSI nor this forum provides end-user support for OEM products.  That is also why MSI Live Update does not find anything for this particular platform (OEM).  You need to contact Fujitsu Siemens for assistance (and this include BIOS Updates and drivers).

If when you go to icloud.com and sign in with your current iCloud ID you see all your iCloud data there, you can safely sign out of the iCloud account on your Mac and choose Delete at all the prompts, then sign back in with the current ID.  This only deletes the data from your Mac, not from iCloud.  Your iCloud data will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in after a brief delay as it redownloads.  If you have automatically imported your photo stream photos to your iPhoto library you won't lose them either (if you haven't, save them to your library first).
Again, only do this if when you go to icloud.com with your current ID you see your iCloud data there.

  • [svn] 2700: With the Marshal Plan, when create an instance of a manager, we need to talk to the system manager.

    Log Message:
With the Marshal Plan, when create an instance of a manager, we need to talk to the system manager. Unfortunately sometimes these manager instances can be created before the Application class is created and/or before the systemManager property is set on the application. So to get the reference to the system manager from the manager instances, we can't use ApplicationGlobals.application.systemManager. We need to use SystemManagerGlobals.topLevelSystemManagers[0] instead. This property is set in the SystemManager constructor, and fortunately for us, Flash runs your root display object's constructor before anything else, even before static initializers (atleast ones not defined in SystemManager or a dependency of it).

an instance p for Point class is created like this?
Instead we can create and instance of Point class
    as:
    Point p = new Point();
Can any one of you explain this?Your Point() constructor doesn't throw exceptions, so there's no need to catch them. The Class.forName() and Class.getInstance() methods can throw exceptions, so it's necessary to handle them if they arise. Check out the docs for those methods, it lists what exceptions they can throw.

    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/lang/Class.html#newInstance()
    2) In the above Class Point what is the use of
creating an instance of Point with in that Point
    class?
    static Point origin = new Point(0,0);
What the reason to create an instance like this
within the same class. We can create this instance of
    point
class when ever we need. There doesn't seem to be any in your code, since that variable is never accessed. It could be useful if you wanted to have a Point that was shared across all instances. This is not a good example of that though.

  • Resetting the Power management unit

I have a 12" Powerbook G4. have been having problems with the battery, would charge fully, with coconut battery, would show 4081 as current battery capacity.
It would drain down to around 79% then immediately go to sleep and when plugged in, battery would show 0%.
I want to reset the power management unit, and see if this might solve the problem.
    I've followed the instructions
    shift-ctrl-option-pwr button
After I do that (I've done it with the power cord connected, with it disconnected, and with it disconnected, and the battery disconnected). The time doesn't reset. I had thought that the time was supposed to get reset. Can anybody confirm that this? is there any way to know that the powermanagement unit has actually been reset?
Just want to try a few last things before spending the money on a new battery. btw, the computer is about 3 years old.
    Thanks.

    This line:
    Full charge capacity (mAh): 5893
    and this one:
    Cycle count: 60
indicate that the battery is healthy. However, the voltage, at 15961, seems high. However I can't compare to my PB17 right now because my daughter borrowed it.
Maybe someone who has their PB handy can compare their numbers.
If the battery is healthy and the a/c adaptor seems to be working, that leaves the internal power circuitry as a suspect.

  • Track down the culprit that resets the system tray customization in Windows 7

The question is duplicated from http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/track-down-the-culprit-that-resets-the-system-tray/7cff4c95-4d08-4a7f-b29d-ce67d8cd6247 as suggested by a support engineer.
    Hi Almighty All,
For a while I'm experiencing problems with my system tray. Something regularly resets my customization, i.e. after reboot sometimes all icons that I marked as to show always are hidden again. I found out that the reason is that something erases HCU\Software\Classes\Local
    Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify.
I decided to find out what is responsible. I turned on auidt policy for objects, then I setup audit for HCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify. The next time the icons customization was reset I found out
that HCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify was cleared again and on top of that the audit settings were gone! So I thought maybe something just removed the whole key altogether with the audit settings on the
    way.
My next attempt was to set audit on HCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software and just let Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify inherit it. The next time the icons customization was reset I found out that HCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify
was cleared again and on top of that the audit settings were gone again! Something removed the whole HCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software?
The Event Log points out to one of the svchost.exe processes, which is just a container for the whole bunch of different services.
Any idea how to find out what service is responsible?

    Hi,
Interesting issue, what about other configuration or settings? Do they work fine or keep reverting after a reboot? Have you tested this issue in another user account? What is the result?
Regarding to unable to save settigs for current user hive, I doubt whether there's an application you installed recently or an malware\virus changes the permission of registry entry or value of registry keys like
    HKCU\Software\Classes which causes this issue.
    Yolanda Zhu
    TechNet Community Support
Hmm... I don't understand. Nothing is reverting after a reboot, as well I'm
not unable to save settings in the current user's hive. The correspondent registry keys can be saved perfectly fine and they are
deleted, not reverted after a reboot. I pointed to the exact code that does it, the code is located in Microsoft DLL with all certificates and digital signatures intact. Permissions obviously don't matter, since svchost.exe is executed with the highest
integrity level and under the System user account, the keys in question inherit permissions, which allow System to do whatever it needs without restrictions
by default, you can't change it to allow more.
So can you explain how it can be some malware?
The issue is intermittent, I don't have a 100% repro, therefore “testing” under another user account is doubtful.

  • Reseting the system clock

After a power surge, I had to replace my motherboard. Now every time I turn on my computer, I get a message that my clock is set to before 2001 causing applications to behave irradically. I change the clock in the time and date settings in system prefs, but once I restart, the clock reverts to the "pre 2001" setting. I was told I need to reset the system clock. Can anyone advise?

lubemupski, Welcome to the discussion area!
There is a small battery on the motherboard called a PRAM battery. It sounds like your PRAM battery has failed and needs to be replaced.
