  • Facetime on iPad 3 with Apple headset

I am able to see and hear the other party on Facetime when using the built in speaker and microphone. When I use the Apple headset (came with the iPhone), I cannot hear the other party through the earbuds and the audio continues to stream through the iPad speaker.  The other party is able to hear me through the headset micophone.  I know the headset audio works fine with other applications.  What can I do?

Though I'm using the short Apple keyboard with my iPad right now with no problems (nor when writing an email just a few moments ago), when I goto post comments on some websites, I then get the doubling.
My 'pad is version 3, its IOS is up-to-date 6.1.3, and the keyboard is model 1314 (bought in 2009 for use with an old, hand-me-down, Mac Mini). Batteries are fresh, just installed today, in case that was the problem -- alas, no.
Since the keyboard works flawlessly on this site, works fine with numerous  apps including WikiPedia, Final Draft Writer, Notes, and FileMaker Go, but does not work periodically on all the differnt sites I run to, I must conclude that the problem is not with either the iPad or the keyboard.
    I would suggest the following:
    a) Install fresh batteries to the keyboard
    b) Fully charge the iPad
    c) Turn off any other Bluetooth toy in the neighborhood -- just in case
    d) Keep a detailed list of what sites and apps do or do not work with the combination
    e) Try using the keyboard with a friend's 'Pad, Macs or PC's (yes, you can use the keyboard with a non-Apple system)
I'd run to the Apple Genius only as very last resort.

  • It is possible to transmit voice from a Headset Microphone to Iphone5?

I am planning to run Yoga classes in the near future and will need a headset microphone so my class can hear me clearly. I would like to use my Iphone5 in a speaker dock and was wondering if I could transmit sound from a  (preferably) wireless headset with built in microphone through to my iphone and out of the speaker dock?
    Many thanks for any help.

    What is the movie format?
Pad2, the new iPad Supported Video Formats & Movie Formats
    H.264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High Profile level 4.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
    MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format
Copy the movie to your computer, Then you can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Microphone troubles

I am running Vista 32bit and have had some microphone troubles in the past few months. Several months ago my mic was working fine on my x-fi xtreme audio sound card. Vista updated one day, and my microphone stopped working. I checked all of the usual settings, it was still my default recording device, the levels were turned all the way up. I checked my microphone on another computer, it was fine. I removed all sound drivers from my computer and re-installed the latest drivers. Still no luck. So I assumed that my line in port had kicked the bucket. I now purchased a soundblaster audigy SE sound card hoping to fix my microphone problems. I removed all sound drivers intalled the new drivers. Checked all of the stuff i have already listed above, and the new mic port is still not working. Let me clarify what I mean when I say not working. I am testing the mic in the creative audio software by unmuting everything so it will shoot back through the speakers and also using windows recorder to make sure the mic is picking up nothing. Its not turned down really silent, literally nothing is being picked up. It says the mic is in working condition in the windows recording devices menu, and the sound card is shown to be performing flawlessly in device manager. What am I missing

Alright well I re-installed the driver for the quick buttons, but it didn't work. Still having the same two problems. No Microphone. And the orange light is stuck on orange and I can't get any sound out of my computer. If I mute and un-mute it from the mixer at the bottom left side of the computer, it still doesn't work.

  • TS3700 How do you solve this problem if you don't use an Apple headset?

Pushing the headset flush is useful advice if you use Apple's headset, which cannot be used for running. What do you do if you don't use an Apple headset, if the headset is flush, and if the iPod stops playing after two minutes?

    Back from the gym.
Same behavior with the Apple earbuds. Turn music on; and music turns off within seconds. Wait. Then maybe screen suddenly lights up. Quick, press play! Oh, too late, it went dark again. Fuss with the device. Suddenly screen lights up. Press play. Music! A few seconds, then off. Arghhh. And this happens whether I run or whether I am lifting weights.
Then, for the last half hour, fine behavior. Double click goes to the next song. One click lights the screen on. One click lights the screen off. Running, walking, or stretching.
Net net, same erratic behavior as with the other headset. I made sure the Apple jack was fully inserted per the photo on another thread in this support community. The part where the iPod was working fine also explains why the genius at the store thought I was gaga when I claimed there was a problem.
Shuffle shake is off; double click on big button set to next song; all other options off.

  • Can not pick up sound through the Bluetooth headset microphone.

I use a Plantronics Bluetooth headset M55 connect new IPAD (IOS6.0), long press the voice dialing, SIRI from Bluetooth headset microphone can not pick up sound, still or IPAD comes with a microphone to pick up sound, SIRI does not recognize, but canfrom the earpiece of the Bluetooth headset to hear the SIRI feedback sound.Want to be able to solve this bug.

Same issue on my wife's iPhone 4S. I suspect it is related to the recent 6.1.2 iOS update (Note: I have a 3S and the update did not cause any issues).
I've tested both bottom and top mics on the 4S using video recorder and both mics work fine. Speakerphone and headset during calls also work fine. The issue is only related to the bottom mic while making calls. I can hear the caller but the caller cannot hear me. If I hold the mic very close to my mouth, the caller can hear a very low level signal.
The problem appears to be software related, not hardware.

  • Gigaworks T20: Headset/Microphone

Hello, I plugged in my headset/microphone into my speakers system gigaworks T20.Problem is that my microphone doesn't work. When I'm calling someone over the internet they can't hear me. I already dit several checks en tests but I can't find what the problem is.
I think dat the speakers doens't have the possibility to use a microphone.
    Stijn

    stijn,
If you want to use a microphone with your computer software, you need to connect it to your computer sound card instead. The Aux In on the speaker isn't meant for connecting microphone.

  • IPhone and Apple Headset

I am unable to get my Apple Headset to function with my iPhone. It was working fine, until someone plugged in their iPhone into the charger while my headset charging. I assume that the Apple Headset then paired with that persons iPhone. Never-the-less, once I re-paired the two (again), things should've been fixed. I've done everything that the manuals instruct me to do, yet I still can't receive calls via the headset, even though the indicator light says there is a connect.

    Hi OTM,
Try remove the iPhone Bluetooth Headset, from Settings> General> Bluetooth, and then pair it to the iPhone again manually as described on page 9 of the iPhone Bluetooth Headset User Guide.

  • Fatal!ty HS-1000 headset microphone

Just recently my Fatal!ty HS-1000 headset microphone stopped working. The red light on the headset is lit up but as soon as i start a game that uses a mic or connect to a ventrilo server or use any program that uses a mic, the red light just goes out and I cannot use the mic. As soon as i close the program the light turns back on. Any info that could help me get my mic working would be great....
Winxp 64 is my os and the mic worked just fine for a year or so just until yesterday. I can provide more system info if needed.

    Boomhs,
Sorry about that, please write to our Customer Support for assistance.

  • Apple headset lost or stolen

My headset completely disappeared today, The first thing I did was turn off the Bluetooth, and then on again... It showed that it was paired but continued to search for devices, thats when i knew my 140 dollar headset was gone:( The real question is, do you guys think not having a hook on the headset played a part in it just vanishing without a sound or anything, i love the fact that it was very light.. But that means you will not hear the thing if it drops, still a awesome product I must add. Also i am thinking about purchasing the jawbone instead of another apple headset only because I am scared of going threw this again, what do you think? apple's headset gives me the ability to listen to music wireless while on a call, is this possible with the jawbone?

i tried answering a call & then listening to a song & it does works. but the problem is once the call is ended, the audio switches back to the speakers.
you can't listen to anything in the ipod section of the iphone via the bluetooth headset except when on a call. only voicemail gives me the option to select how i want to hear it - bt headset, iphone or speaker phone.
i'm just trying to listen to audio books & i need one ear free. the sound quality isn't that great, but it is nice to be untethered by a cord.

  • Pair 2 non-Apple headsets to an iPhone

I have a Jawbone Bluetooth headset and a Jabra Bluetooth Auto Kit. I have been able to pair each one to my iPhone, but not at the same time. I want to use the Jabra while in my car and the Jawbone when I’m not in my car. Does anyone know how to pair 2 non-Apple headsets to an iPhone?

I use a car hands-free system, and a motorbike helmet one. Both works fine with iPhone, what is your problem. Obviously, don't try to turn both on at the same time, you will never know which one connected first, but the behavior is pretty straightforward : When you turn your headset on, it may try to connect to your phone, or will try when there is an incoming call, it depends on your headset.
All you have to do is turn off your headset while you are in the car.

  • ICap Silicone Covers Too Big for Apple Headset

In an attempt to get a better fit with the Apple Bluetooth Headset, I ordered a set of iPod iCap earbud covers from onlycooltoys.com.
Unfortunately, they are too large for the Apple headset and easily fall off. (they are made for the regular iPod earbuds, not the Bluetooth Headset)
The search continues for a decent product to provide size adjustments to the Apple Bluetooth Headset.

Before you do that (and spend 15 USD and add 10 cm of cable length perhaps), try if you can't cut off 1.5mm or 2mm off the existing rubber stuff around the plug. Worked like a charm on my Shure earbuds.
Good luck, and don't cut yourself.
PS: The reason why Apple doesn't communicate this option is probably because in the US of A you'd need fourteen extra pages of disclaimer in the manual or they could be the victim of some silly litigation lawsuit. You know, hot coffee and ... hot..

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • TS4185 I am having microphone trouble on face time.  Others cannot hear me.  I have checked system preferences and everything looks ok. Mic symbol has a line through it but nothing happens when I try to click on it.  Internal mic is selected.

I am having microphone trouble on my Mac Book Pro during face time.  Others cannot hear me.  Microphone symbol has a line through it but will not allow me to change from muted to unmuted.  "Mute" under Video tab is greyed out and internal microphone is selected.  System Preferences show that internal microphone is working.  I have tried to restart computer, no difference.  Does anyone have a suggestion?

When you have kernel panics, the pertinent information is in the panic report.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
