* You have no or low audio/ sound. In macbook pro, you may also see a red light in your audio jack.
*Step 1:* Download the Macbook Pro Cirrus Logic CS4206A Driver from our server.
+(As a request, please do not hotlink this file anywhere else or our server will automatically remove the file from server.)+
+In case the above download link does not work google+ CirrusAudio.10.6.1.zip
*Step 2:* Extract the right type of Driver
(depending on your windows XP/ 7/ 32 bit/ 64bit)
Step3: for Windows 7 only: Right Click on exe file of driver.
Select Properties> Compatibility > run in compatibility mode
Select Windows Vista from drop down menu and Click OK
*Step 4:* Double click the driver and install.

i used the boot camp to install Windows Vista in it
after installing all drivers with the Apple CD
i noticed that my speakers were not working in Windows Vista
even though in Mac it works...
what is the problem with it ? where can i find the correct driver to install ?

Well, my first experiance of the applecare helpline did not go well, after explaining my problem (including not having the start-up discs) thier first responce was "a set of replacement discs will cost around £90-£100 (english pounds) strange since i called the Irish number (and ireland like most of europe uses euros??) thier second solution "you should reinstall the operating system using the start-up disks that came with the machine" just made me think i was talking to a idiot.
I then changed focus and asked if/where i could find out what soundcard is installed and i was told "we dont keep such specific information about our products" ????? Apple doesnt know what soundcards are installed on thier own machines??? can this be true ???
Im off to an applestore to see if they can tell me the same with a straight face.
So without knowing the specific soundcard, is there such a thing as a "generic driver" i could use??

Try the XP driver. You will probably have to manually install it as follows...

Download and run the above file. Close out of any error windows.
Go to the device manager and click on the Multimedia Audio Controller needing drivers.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and then at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
Click on Have Disk and browse to: C:\SWSetup\sp34210\SMAXWDM\W2K_XP\smwdmCH6 and select the SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio from the list and see if the driver installs.
Then reboot.

you don't need OS X install-disk, but I strongly recomend to burn a Win 7 disk. You may have some problems with installing it from a USB Flash :)

Mac Audio Driver (for Screenflow) will not install

I have downloaded a program called Screenflow, which records video and audio of my desktop. It used to work fine with my MacBook Pro but it doesn't work with my new iMac (Lion). The program is supposed to record the computer audio, and when I try to enable it, it asks me to accept it installing the audio driver for it. However, when I click install and enter the passport, it says it is unable to install it. What can I do?

Thank you. By realizing I was able to install the updates individually from the apple website, I discovered that one of the updates apple was trying to install was Airport Utility 6.1, even though I am running Snow Leopard. It apparenly requires 10.7.3 and up. The software update console doesn't seem to recognize this in its search for updates. Thanks again. -ss

Welcome to the forum!
Try any or all of these steps.
1. Enter the BIOS and set it to default values.
2. Disable the device driver that has problem in the device manager. If you see any yellow or red marks under a device then "Disable the profile" of the device by first going into it's properties.
3. Click Start , Run , and type the following into the Open field: msconfig, Click the Boot.ini tab. Remove the checkmark next to /Safeboot , if it is selected. Click OK and restart the PC.
4. In Safe mode select Start, Run, type "msconfig" and click on OK. Check the box before Normal Startup and click on Apply and OK. Exit and restart your computer.
5. Your computer may also be infected with a virus or malware, try running a complete scan with an updated antivirus/spyware.

I am not using Bootcamp. I have installed Windows 7 only, but I think you can still get it to work. Unless this problem was already resolved another way and I didn't notice it.

this is the one i tried to install in a macbook (late 2009), the last on the list is CS4206A (AB 99)
the file is listed as 4207, implying that 4207 is the latest, however all i can get is CDB4207 in the list.
installing 4206 ab99 gives me sound, but with left speaker higher than right speaker and NO headphone sound...
i do however have isight working just with bootcamp 3.0 and 3.1 update installed....those drivers seem to work.

You will need to know which Realtek driver you need for your laptop. I.e., the Realtek HD Audio or the Realtek AC'97 version.

If "Realtek High Definition Audio" is listed under the "Sound, video and game controllers" in the Device Manager then that is your sound driver. Some people have had luck with uninstalling the Realtek HD audio driver from their computer via the Device Manager (be sure to check the "Delete driver software for this "), and then reinstalling it. You can get the latest version of the Realtek HD audio driver from the Realtek download site.
Many of us who have the Realtek HD sound driver have had to make several tweaks to improve the sound. Opening the Realtek HD Manager and enabling Loudness Equalization and setting the equalizer to Powerful helps with some of the low audio issues some of us have experienced with the Realtek HD sound drivers.
