HT3986 reinstall windows7 from 32 bit to 64 bit using bootcamp

Hello,
I have a Imac 27 running bootcamp. I onstalled Win7 32 bit in error and now have a licensed version of Win7 64 bit. How do i reinstall Win7?
Thank you for your time,
Michael.

Start over. Use Boot Camp Assistant to remove your Boot Camp partition and Windows then use Boot Camp Assistant to create a new Boot Camp partition then install Windows 64 bit.
There is no Windows upgrade path from 32 bit to 64 bit so you have to install again.

  • Installing Windows 7 64-Bit Using BootCamp on Mac Pro 2,1 (Early 2007)

    Hi everybody,
I have Mac Pro 2,1 (early 2007) 8-core, my OS X is 10.6.4, I couldn’t install Windows 7 64-Bit on BootCamp separate drive (as my Mac Pro 2,1 is not supported for this installation by Apple). I am seeking help if anyone find a trick to do that task. Your help on this will be highly appreciated.

I was waiting to see if the original poster was still intent on going through with it, since it's (a) lot of work, and (b) an unsupported configuration. Unless he's using > 4GB of memory I'm not sure why he needs the 64 bit version of Win7 (there's even less reason to run 64-bit Windows as a VM). I'm not prepared to assume the responsiblity of solving any/all current and future problems he may run into, especially if this is for "work" and not a hobby-level, "I just want Win7-64bit" situation. If he's reading this and wants to proceed -
The Jowie page, while workable, requires a more steps (i.e. even more work); plus, the screenshots used are from an earlier release of imgburn, which has different options from the current version, and if the original poster needs that much handholding he could be put off.
Win7 AIK is "needed" because of the oscdimg.exe that is included. It is the "official Microsoft sanctioned" way of generating Windows ISO images. It's a one-line command that outputs an ISO image file once you have the Win7 disc in the drive, no need to muck about checking/unchecking boxes etc., and running the risk of burning coasters (since there's no way of knowing whether your output works until you actually run it, and imgburn has too many ways of messing up when you don't know what you're doing).
There are alternate "direct" sources for oscdimg.exe, which are smaller downloads than Win7 AIK http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=696dd665-9f76-4177-a 811-39c26d3b3b34&displaylang=en , but I'm a little chary of "programs sourced from unidentified hosts", even though I'm certain most of them are just being helpful and are not malicious (have you read Ken Thompson's Reflections on Trusting Trust - http://cm.bell-labs.com/who/ken/trust.html )
If the original poster (or anyone else reading) is interested, either the jowie.com method can be used, if you are averse to a command line or have poor download bandwidth, or you can get oscdimg.exe (however you choose to do so) and execute:
    oscdimg -n -m -bd:\boot\etfsboot.com d:\ c:\iso\win7dvd.iso
assuming oscdimg.exe is in your path (or your current directory), and you've created a directory c:\iso
Incidentally, after getting 64-bit Win7 installed your problems aren't over yet, because Boot Camp will refuse to install the 64 bit version on your "unsupported" machine. There is a workaround (see my post in the thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2589967&tstart=0 ) but I do not know if there will be a future release of Boot Camp that would defeat this.

  • I have windows 7 32-bit in my mac pro but i want to install 64-bit. How can install 64-bit on my existing 32-bit using bootcamp?

I am trying to install windows 7 ultimate 64-bit on my existing windows 7 32-bit. Can someone guide me with step by step process on how to install without losing data from windows?

Unfortunately, you can't. Windows has never, ever been able to install an upgrade, or even the same version over itself without essentially destroying the drive.
Make absolutely sure all of your personal data is backed up, first.
When you install Win 64 from the DVD over an existing installation, it gives you two choices, both of which stink. One simply replaces all of the standard directories with all new data, fully erasing all third party apps you've installed and all of your settings. The second choice isn't any better. It moves all of the standard directories into a folder named Old Data (or something like that). Which again takes all of your third party software with it, along with your personal settings.
No matter which lousy choice you make, you have to reinstall all of your third party apps and set everything up again as if it were a new computer. The only thing that's different from a brand new computer is that your pictures and other such data should still be in your user folder. But everything else will be broken.

  • Cannot install drivers in win 7 32 bits using bootcamp 4 or 5

    I posted this question yesterday.
anyway, I have a imac midi 2011, 21,5 inches using OS x mountain lion 10.8.2. Manuals say I have to install bootcamp 4, because I install windows 7 profesional 32 bits.
Al follow all this instalation requirements, but when I try to install system say This software is not compatible.
I Downloaded from appel suppor site to PC intel and after I copy the .zip file in a root of USB formatted in FAT 32.
Finally is not possible download any driver. I I want to install an specific driver, is same problem.
I did all this steps but downloading bootcamp 5, and got same results. I understood Bootcamp 5 is only to install win 8 o win 7 64 bit, am I right?
    Thanks for your help
    Gilberto

To teh best of my knowledge, Boot Camp 5 only supports 64 Bit Windows installations (as it is designed for 64 bit hardware).  I dont recall positively, but I believe that Boot Camp 4 supports both 64 bit and 32 bit windows installations, but the installer may default to 64 bit mode.  You may have to extrace the drivers and install them manually in 32 bit mode.

  • HT3986 How do I right click on Windows installed using Bootcamp?

How do I right click on Windows installed using Bootcamp?

It should work the same way it does in OSX, but for it to work correctly, you need to install the Boot Camp drivers in Windows. You can do this by using the Boot Camp Assistant in OSX, then creating the "Windows support software (drivers)" package. Follow the instructions there, then use the resulting thumbdrive to install the drivers and apps into Windows. Then you should be able to two-finger-click the touchpad or right-click your mighty mouse or other two-button-enabled mouse.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4407 for more info on this.
Caveat: I've done this, and I've found that the two-finger-click in Windows is iffy. That is, it frequently triggers a left-click function instead of right-click. :-/

Disable the Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC option from under the iPod's Summary tab in iTunes and see if that helps.

  • 970A-G43 / After reinstall windows7 I/O data transfer is low

    Hi,
I reinstalled my Windows7 after a very long time of use. Even I did not reinstalled OS when I changed my mainboard for this MSI.
Now after a fresh install I cannot run any previously installed on a different Disk.
    I have:
1 disk for OS (WD 320G)
1 disk for Games (WD 500G)
1 disk for Data (Seagate 2TB)
I tested data transfer from OS - Games Data disks and it is low or bad, even getting disconnected the disks sometimes.
I checked for corrupted sectors all the disks and all is fine.
It seems that every time that I want to play a game the files or folder needs to be read and then it will run fine, but at any new screen it needs to read again and that is very low again.
Any suggestion is welcome, even if I have to resinstall following some tips.
    Thanks in advance.

When you reinstall Windows from scratch you also need to reinstall your games/applications.  Some older games will run fine from their self-contained directories without the need for re-installation, but some games won't run at all until they are re-installed.  Of course, this may not be what you are talking about...

  • MacBook Pro mid. 2012 got slow (even reinstalling Yosemite from cero)

    Hello I'm Abraham,
    This is my Mac:
Macbook Pro Mid. 2012 model (2.5 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB, 500 GB HD) with OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)
(Purchased brand new from Apple Store since 2013 and I'm the only user of it)
    The issue:
My MacBook started getting really slow that the only way I could use it was on Safe Mode. I'm a common user, the most demanding program I use is Photoshop CS4 (beginner level) and I'm extremly cautious installing non-safe or third-party software.
I found the problem was that FileVault bug that makes Yosemite hang or freezes with the last upgrade (If you choose FileVault turn on) so in some way the ecryption process get stuck the whole system.
I solve the problem doing this: (http://www.macissues.com/2014/10/27/filevault-bug-makes-yosemite-pause-or-hang-a t-login/)
After that I started using Mac as common and running really fast and smoth as Mac normal does, not demanding so much from it. But after some weeks from the FileVault problem it started getting slow again, not so much but with lethargy.
So I did this 4 tasks (in that order) trying to back my common Mac speed:
How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) - Apple Support
Using Apple Hardware Test - Apple Support (The result from this Test was that everything is good)
And my last move, and I don't know if was the right choice, was format the hard drive with Level 3 secure option (from Disk Utility and took like 40 hours to finish) and reinstall Yosemite from cero and keeping the Hard Drive without nothing (software, photo, music, etc.)
So my Mac now it's like brand new, but it still has lethargy doing things (I mean more than usual) like:
    Switching programs
Writing trough the keyboard / 'Backspacing'
    Starting up the Mac
Logging in and out from the system (Usually took about 30 secs. - 1 min, now takes up to 4-5 minutes)
Opening Safari Tabs / Finder Tabs
Even with taks like those ones, the color wheel appears.
In conclusion: I can use the Mac, but after some time it gets really annoying, it's like going back to Windows.
If anybody knows what could be, I will appreciate your help.
    Thank's.

  • OWB 10g Release 2 from 32 bit to 64 bit on Linux

    Hi guys,
I have a client who is planning to migrate their Linux server from 32 bit to 64 bit and migrate their Oracle database from 10.2.0.3 from 32 bit server to 10.2.0.3 from 64 bit server.
We have OWB 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3) installed in the 32 bit server.
Our DBA is planning to move the entire database to the new server including the OWB repositories.
    My question is,
    Will the following work?
    1. Install the OWB 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3 or 10.2.0.4) 64 bit in the new 64 bit Linux 64 bit server
    2. Remove all the OWB repository user schemas & roles from the database where OWB is installed
    3. Install the OWB repository in the new 64 bit server
    4. Import the .mdl backup of the project from existing OWB 32 bit to the new OWB 64 bit server
    5. Configure the project with the new server
    OR
Since our DBA is planning to move the entire database to the new server including the OWB repositories
    1. Install the OWB 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3) 64 bit in the new 64 bit Linux 64 bit server
Will I be able to access my repository that is migrated from the 32 bit server (avoiding the installation of OWB repository and importing the project and configuring the whole project in the new server) ?
Please someone shed some light on this. Your help is appreciated
    Thanks in advance....

Does this mean, ... we have to install the OWB 64 bit and install a new repository in the 64 bit server? In my opinion you don't need to create new repository.
After migrating database to 64bit perform steps from Metalink note 434272.1 "How To Update Warehouse Builder 10.2 After A Database Cloning".
It is better to save the same path for new OWB 64bit software. If you install OWB into different path you need to update OWBRTPS table with new path to OWB software (look at metalink note 550271.1).

  • Cannot reinstall whatsapp from icloud on iphone 5c running iOS 8.2

I am really hoping someone can help as Apple support has been unable to do anything...
I believe this is an AppleID/iTunes issue, so I will provide all of that info.  It may be that something else entirely is happening though... I recently moved to the UK from the US and have been using my US AppleID to make purchases from the US iTunes store.  Last week, I was setting up my new AppleTV and wanted to get a UK-specific app, so I tried to switch my US AppleID to the UK iTunes store and was blocked from doing so because I had an "unexpired" season pass for a TV show I purchased through the US iTunes store (nevermind that the TV season ended weeks ago and I have downloaded and watched all the programs).  Since I couldn't switch my existing ID, I made a new AppleID specifically for the UK and was able to purchase the UK app I wanted on my AirMac and install it on my AppleTV.  I never logged in with this new app on my iPhone and never tried to sync the iPhone with the mac or tv while logged in as the UK ID.
Following all of this, I tried to access whatsapp on my iPhone and it told me I needed to update the application.  I went to the app store on my phone and was unable to update it - I clicked on the button to update, the button flashed for a split second "install" and then immediately went back to the "update" icon.  I tried this several times to no avail.  OK, so maybe I could just uninstall and reinstall whatsapp, right?  So I uninstalled and then went back to the (US) iTunes store on my phone and found whatsapp, which it shows as in my cloud, and clicked on the cloud to download it back onto my phone.  Once again the cloud icon flashes for a split second to the downloading icon and then back to the cloud and doesn't actually start the download.  I tried logging in and out of iTunes.  I tried using my US and UK AppleIDs.  I have restarted my phone many times.  I have been on numerous secured wifi networks as well as my cellular data network.  The only thing I haven't done yet is a complete wipe of my phone.  But if the problem is with connecting to my cloud, then maybe wiping the phone wouldn't work anyway?  I have been able to update other apps on my phone as well as download other things from my cloud.  So maybe it's not a AppleID/iTunes issue, it's a whatsapp issue?  It just seems like that because this all started happening right after my AppleID problems that maybe they are related.
Any help would be much appreciated!!!

Downloading apps has nothing to do with iCloud. Apps are not stored there. The little cloud icon in the app store simply means you've downloaded it before.
Apple does reserve the right to prevent use of a country's store if you are not in that country. You could have contacted the iTunes Store customer service and had your ID swtiched over, rather than creating a new one. But, water under the bridge. I suspect that the fact that you have already downloaed Whatsapp from the U.S. store but are now in the U.K. is somehow part of the problem, though I'm not sure precisely what. My sneaking suspicion is that it's a Whatsapp problem. I'd start by contact them. Contact information for iTunes/App Store customer service can be found using the Contact Us link at the bottom right of every page of these forums.
    Best of luck.
