Windows wants to restart several times during initial installation. How do I restart it in windows, so I don't lose my installation progress?
It would normally restart in to Windows but if you need to do it manually you can hold the Alt key as the chime sounds and then pick the Windows hard drive icon.

Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system. I have a wndows 7 system and use a Intel core processor. I have restarted several times and still ge this error. I have also tried to reinstall firefox and get the same error

You may need to use '''[[Safe Mode]]''' (click on "Safe Mode" and read) to localize the problem. Firefox Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode that disables Extensions and some other features of Firefox. You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window. -

Force restarting several times a day - continuation of threa
FBHolt, since you are having force restart several times a day according to your post in the previous thread let's try first to isolate the most common symptom generated by a force restart, and that's a correct directory. Have you tried yet, to follow these instructions to repair the directory?
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214ATTENTION! I feel like its my duty to inform you of what has occured to me. Right now I am using a lender because my just one year old powerbook died on me. Yes it crashed. After the last update that I had made (like three weeks ago), my computer experienced all the problems previously mentioned in the other thread. My PB suddenly became incredibly slow and the beach ball appered all the time and for the simplest of things. Then when I would restart I would restart the restart. It would stay in the grey page forever. I even went shopping and when I came back it was still there. Then one day it became unberably slow. That was in the morning. Then when I got back from school it kept wanting to restart over and over and over until it never did again. It just gave me the blue screen of death. I quickly got my recovery disk and went and did the whole thing. Then when I woke up the next morning it quickly crashed on me again. So then I went to recover again, but then when it ask you to choose what hardrive you want to recover it couldn't detect the HD. I tried a hundred times. I then decided to take the cd out and stick back in, but guess what, after I tried a hundred times (and yes I would press eject and wait a while before ever pressing eject again) it never came out. So that is why I have a lender. In my case, to me at least, it all conects to that last update. I treated my PB like a baby. I am no expert but I am sure to treat my computers well. There was no reason or excuse for what happened. And you know, now that I am using this lender (a brand new one with Tiger), I am starting to think that my PB (purchased new) was never working properly in the first place. But being a long time user of other people's crappy PCs with Windows, I would never have known. Anyway, I just wanted to share my story in hopes that it could help someone.

How do i quiet finder?i can't force quiet or relaunch finder. it says' "finder not responding". Therefore I couldn't shut down. I've tried to force shut down & restart several times. but still finder won't quiet. Any idea please???? I am using a macbook pro retina with Mavericks 10.9.5.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/
com.apple.finder.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by restarting and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

Has anyone else been having trouble with safari ever since the update? I have restarted several times, it still doesn't work.
Greetings Blueleoapple,
After reading your post, it sounds like you are experiencing an error with Safari. You may want to consider resetting your device, which is different from restarting. This article provides detailed instructions for Restarting, and Reseting:
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
How to restart
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
How to reset
You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can't restart it.
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
Best,

My new IPAD 2.0 keeps freezing on the current application. When I hit the button on the IPAD it does not go back to the icon "desktop"....I have restarted several times and reset my settings and it is still happening. HELP.
You'll have more success getting an answer to your questions, if you post them in the appropriate discussion board....

I am using My iPad with Apple TV, Airplay and projector in my classroom. The projector screens blanks out and back on several times during a presentation. It seems like a problem with connection but I'm not sure as it comes back on after a few seconds. Any idea of what is causing this and how it can fixed?
Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.
Cheers, Tom -

Any hint for tracing the root of this problem? Thank you very much!Hi ...
If you have moved the Safari application from the Applications folder, move it back.
As far as the cache goes, there's a work around for that when you can't empty the Safari cache from the menu bar.
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.aple.Safari.Cache.db. Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Try Safari.

My Iphone 5c is not being recognized by my Mac computer. I have done all of the upates, restarted several times and I'm not sure what else to do. I have searched and searched and searched and have come up with nothing. Also, my Iphoto can not be updated. I'm still using version 8. something, and it won't update without this update and that update. It needs 9.0 but I can't find that download anywhere. The only one that I can find is 9.1. That won't update. Is there anything that I can do, or should I just bite it and take it to apple to get looked at?
Does iTunes not see the phone?
If not, make sure you're running the current version of iTunes.
If you are running the current version and it still doesn't recognize it, see this: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
As for iPhoto, you will have to purchase a newer version. It's not a free upgrade. Or, you can use Image Capture, which is built into OS X, to import the photos. -
On Windows Vista and tried several times to start up my iTunes, but keep getting 'application failed MSVCR80.dll error-7 (windows 126) is this an easy fix ...?
Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

The events of the last month, with the photographs have suddenly disappeared from the iPhoto Library. I have opened these successfully several times during the last few weeks, but on opening them yesterday they weren't there any longer. No idea how this could have happened! Is it possible to retrieve ???
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

My mac air is re-starting several times during the day, anyone have any idea what I can do to fixed it?
I was having this problem while still using Mavericks -- it started after a Mavericks update last spring. During the initial Yosemite beta runs over the summer, it seemed to be fixed, but after the official launch in October, I had all sorts of problems keeping connected. Its gotten a little better, but still happens to at least one of my devices every day. Weird that we still cannot figure out why the connection keeps dropping on some devices, but not others, and then the next day, one of the devices that didn't disconnect the previous day will disconnect, but the ones that did disconnect, stay connected. It's just sloppy, poorly written software for technology that isn't working the way it should. If you turn off Continuity and Handoff on all your devices, you will probably see that everything stays connected. With those turned off on all devices, TC stayed connected to everything for over a month. The day I turned Continuity back on, all the problems started again. It had something to do with the bluetooth version being used, the wifi routine, and Apple's AirPlay technology not quite getting along with each other.

My husband's 4s will not hold he volume in the loud position. Every time he raises the volume and as soon as he lets go of the button it immediately decreases. He had restarted several times and nothing changes. He has cleaned around the buttons with a soft brush. No luck. Ideas?
Try resetting your device.
