HT3988 imac power button pulses but imac will not turn on
imac power button will turn on
Hi and Welcome,
On my old G5 when I saw the red light through the front grill it meant that the machine was not going to boot. I just turned it off in the front, a hard shutdown, when I saw it. For me, I was able to wait for for a while and usually it would start up with no trouble again. But that Mac also had heat issues and sometimes running a small fan through the grill would allow me to start up sooner.
One thing that might be adding to your problem might be the amount of RAM you have, it's a very small amount.
Is your Hard Drive almost full? That can be a problem.
Can you start from one of the OS disks and use the app Disk Utility?
If you have the Discs that came with the Mac (originally), on one should be The Apple Hardware Test. That might help you diagnose the issue.
A PMU reset might get you started again. It's a bit model specific, for some it's just pulling the cord out (sound familiar?) and that resets the NVRAM. For other models this is a good reference: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1436
Quicktime likes RAM, so does your Mac in general, the amount you have is just sliding by.
Take a look inside your Mac to see if it's very dusty inside. That can cause a host of problems.
Good luck.

try holding the home button while you connect the phone to the computer to put the iphone into recovery mode (this will delete every thing) and you want to keep holding the home button till itunes says it discovered a device in recovery mode, and have you tried charging the phone and then holding the home and power button

My Mac Mini was not sending a signal to the monitor. I powered down using the power button and now it will not start. When i power up I get a strange 2 tone sound, like a warning alarm. The fan starts, and the light comes on, but no screen.
I have tried with a wired USB keyboard and mouse using a single screen. Powered up with option pressed. No change.
Reset SMC no changeRun the Apple hardware test to see what it tells you. Run the extended test when prompted, which can take awhile.

My iPod Touch power button is stuck and will not pop back up. My iPod Touch Repairs and Service Coverage is still active, Does that mean I can get a new iPod Touch?
Apple will most likely exchange it. The one you receive will be refurbished.

I bought 2 new memory card to 4 grams each - replace them in your MacBook Pro 13-inch but it will not turn on - If you are installing a card for 2 and one for 4 d all works - tell me what could be the problem
I assume that you have installed new RAM in your MBP.
It would be helpful if you indicated the EXACT model/year MBP that you have.
What the the RAM specifications that you are trying to install?

The WiFi button is gray and will not turn on WiFi. When I push the Bluetooth on button, all I get is the spinning gear. It does not go on. What is the problem? Is there a fix?
After trying resets and a full restore, I went to Apple Store. Genius kept me waiting 1/2 hour beyond app'tment time, then had to go through all sorts of tests before concluding the problem was what you said. They replaced the phone. Thanks.

My iPad is not even 6 months old but it will not turn on at all. Could it be the battery?
First thing to do is plug it into the charger that came with you iPad and plug that into a known good wall outlet. Let it remain plugged in for at least one hour before attempting to turn it on. If it comes on leave it plugged in until it is fullya charged. If it doesn't come on Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

Is there a built in reset on an iMac that will not start? Was plugged into a GFI protected plug, it triped. Reset GFI plug is working, but can not turn on my iMAC
Paul's suggestion may work, but if the Hard Drive was writing when the power was cut abruptly, there may be data corruption, file index corruption or even physical damage to the drive as the read/write heads clash.
If the SMC reset doesn't work, first see if the installation DVD can be inserted. If it can, start up with the C key held down. OK the language screen, ignore the installer and select the Utilities menu at the top of the screen, open Disk Utility. Select the HD in te left pane and click repair (not repair permissions).
If you get a message that repairs were carried out, run the repair again until you either get "the volume xxxxx appears to be OK" or a message that repair can't be carried out.
If it won't boot to the disc, or the disc can't be inserted, try a single-user mode boot - hold down ⌘ and S on start up until the Unix prompt appears.
Type carefully this command
fsck -fy
then press return.
As before, if the prompt reappears with the message that repairs were carried out, run the check again until you either get "the volume xxxxx appears to be OK" or a message that repair can't be carried out (and assume the latter if it hasn't given an OK within 4 tries).
Type
reboot
and press return to attempt to start up normally.
If it still won't start, it's fair to say the HD is dead. -
IPod will turn on when I charge it, but then will not turn back on later on
The only way my iPod will turn on now is if I plug it into the computer. I thought it had to do with the charge, but when I hook it up to the computer it says that it's already fully charged. Has anyone had this problem?
Thanks!

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Try resetting your iPhone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

My phone is frozen and I can not get it to "Wake up"
Stuck on the black apple logo screen. And my computer and itunes are not responding when I plug it in.
Any ideas?try doing a restart / reset first

if this doesn't work
You can try the step here in this link.

when you're stuck on the apple logo, the operating iOS doesn't load so itunes could not detect the device
