I have a thin red line down my screen how can I remove it ?

Have you tried this?
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

There is no brightness toolbar unless your iPhone is jailbroken.  If so, you can try to restore to remove the JB.
The only place brightness exists is under Settings.

  • I've just downloaded software -now have a thin blue line on my screen? pls. help.

I have just downloaded some software...when my computer restarted, it now has a thin blue line on the screen.  What's happened?

A: is it in all screens or just Chrome (unlikely)?
    B: reset SMC
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
C: Your LCD is highly likely NOT broken rather a signal feed hardware issue in the monitor cable that travels thru the hinge from the logic board.
D: make a screenshot and verify if the screenshot shows the same or not.
E: the LED backlighting is showing thru implying, of course, that the LCD feed for that vertical line is not being fed.
    Reset SMC and verify.
if same, you have either bad monitor cable or connection of same at junction with logic board.
At which point make appt. with Apple for diagnostic / service

  • My ipod has lines on the screen, how can i fix this? what does it mean?

please help me. my ipod has lines as the screen, instead of a solid picture. what should i do?

If a reset or restore of the device does not resolve the issue, your iPod likely needs servicing as the LCD screen may be damaged.

  • My MacPro 10.6.8 has a thin green line on the screen.

My MacPro is just over a year old now and I have a thin green line on the screen. I hooked it up to my TV and on the second window (the TV) the green line wasn't there. Whats the issue? How do I fix it?

From what you are saying, sounds like a line of pixels out on the display.
Did the TV use the same connector on the computer? If not, swap the display with the TV. If you still have the line, it is one of the items that you swapped across.
Have you tried connecting the display to another computer? If so, is the line still there?
What kind of display is it? Can you swap the data cable and try a different cable, could be a cable issue.
Any adapters in use? If so, try swapping those to rule them out as a problem.

  • I have a straight horizontal line across my screen

    Hi Folks
have a straight horizontal line across my screen. Can assist?

Yes, move the screen slowly back and forth, if it changes, you have a damaged monitor feed cable
Does it appear in all screens?
Does it vanish from time to time?
post a pic,   hook your AIr up to an external monitor, if its there, its GPU /logic problem
if its gone, its as mentioned a bad monitor feed from the logic via the cable.
    perform SMC reset and re-verify
    SMC reset
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
Contact Apple for an appt. for in shop diagnostics and likely repair.

  • Thin red line treatment

Thin red line treatment when adding title.  Playback slows to a crawl and I can't sync.  No obvious incompatiblties.  Using Vista with dual core Athon - 3 GB ram. Any ideas anyone?

That's fine. It is PRE's way of telling you that you have adjusted a clip. If playback is jerky you can press [Enter] and PRE will render the timeline for a smoother preview. If you have lots of red lines and only want to render a small piece then set the WorkAreaBar to cover just that piece.
Note that none of this is necessary and it makes no difference to your final output as PRE always renders the entire timeline during the Share process.

  • Thin Red Line

    Hair pulling time.
About a month ago I got a new 27 inch imac.  Sorry to say it 'played up' from the beginning, and had to go back to where I brought it.  They replaced a faulty hard drive and a faulty memory card.  Seemed fine when I got it back on Friday.
Until tonight.  I was watching the BBC online player and noticed thin red lines moving with the action on the screen.  Difficult to describe but my wife said it looked like one of the effects you'd find on a 1980's MTV video, though a little more creative.
Thought it might be the player, so I tried some MP4s & MV4s.  Same red lines.  Looking closely you can see them on the desktop pic as well.
Rebooted.  No lines.  But something's obviously not right, any ideas?  I'll get back on to the Apple supplier tomorrow, but it's always good to have some suggestions from the people on here.
The best thing would be for them to give me a new machine, but apparently apple only repair if ten days have passed from original purchase.  That's what I'm told anyway.
    Thanks.

It could be the first sign of a bad graphics card, or it could be nothing. If it is the graphics card it will get progressively worse. You're on warranty for a while so no need to leap on it. If it's gone now that's good.
EDIT: It coud also be the RAM, even though they replaced it, it may not be properly seated.
Download and run Rember to test your RAM.

  • I have very thin, colored lines running vertical on my desktop monitor screen.  I don't know where they come from or how to get rid of them.  I started with one and now have three.  Can anyone give me some insight about what to do in getting rid of them?

I have very thin, colored lines that have shown up on my IMac monitor screen.  I don't know where they came from or how to get rid of them.  I'm concerned now because I started with one and now have three.  Does any know why this occurs or how to get rid of them?

I got an address from Applecare, although I can't place my hand on it right now. I didn't bother persuing the letter route myself as I didn't expect much. I know that the location was Cork, Ireland though as that where the UK Applecare is based as far as I'm aware. The best thing to do is to call Applecare (if it's free) and discuss the issue. State that you are not happy wit the fact that you will have to pay to have the problem resolved especiiay if it is an ongoing problem that has not been resolved. I ended up speaking to a senior manager of the Applecare team who then proceeded to tell me about mailing in my grievence to customer services division or something like that.
If I can find the address I may post it if I'm allowed.
In the case of age, Schools usually have a 5-year life-cycle as they tend to be used differently than consumer machines, i.e. being used constantly on a daily basis for at least 12 hours with no break. you would expect issues to appear after a few years, but I expect problems that arise through defects to be resolved and stay resolved. As I mentioned we had machines for around 2 years before the lines appeared and sent them to be repaired. I'm happy with that. What I am unhappy about is the fact that the problem has reappeared exactly in the same way and now I'm left with around 7 machines that I either pay loads to repair or, the more likely replace the machines with newer ones since the age is now big enough to warrant the replacement.
Sorry for the lengthy moan, but these are the reasons I purchased Apple ahrdware in the first place to avoid the "not our problem" stance some PC vendors  usually take, similar to the Dell monitors thread mentioned in here somewhere.

I have a thin blue line appearing on my screen that wasn't there before - what is it and how do I get rid of it?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
They are probably dead pixels or a signal of damaged GPU. If you can, connect an external display and see if the issue appears here.
In both cases, I suggest you to take it to an Apple Store or reseller. It doesn't look as a software issue, and your display or GPU have to be replaced
