I have a Sony Ereader, with books, how can i get the books out of the library in Ibooks on my Ipad?

in Itunes with Ipad connected, Books in sync, i dragged it into itunes, and he is showing me:
Syncing data to Ipad "name" (step 5 of 5)
waiting for items to copy
this is taking a very long time!
at the Sony reader it is seconds...
what is happening?

Though iBooks allows you to recover lost purchased books redownloading from, an option like this doesn't exist for downloaded samples. Case in point, I download samples of books in iBooks as a way to capture books that I intend to buy -- instead of keeping a list. I recently lost 2+ years of saved Sample books (for no apparent reason) and now can't figure out how to recover them.
Is there a way to restore or identify the files from an old back? If so, what would be the specific steps? Thanks.

How do I get an epub book into IBook to read on my iPad

I have a lot of eBooks, used on a Kindle and have tried to get iBook to see them on my iPad. It does not.
1. I converted from azw to epub with Calibre
2. I tried dragging and dropping the file onto iTunes->iPad->Books and onto iTunes->iPad which didn't work.
3. I used Add to Library from the File menu and they imported ending up in iTunes->Library->Books.
4. I tried dragging each book from iTunes->Library->Book to iTunes->iPad->Books and onto iTunes->iPad and it would not work
5. I Synched my iPad and cannot find any of the epub books with iBook. Nothing but Winnie the Poo which came with iBooks.
What and I doing wrong?

Does the same thing happen on any other books that you have in the app ? If not then it's probably just that one book, in which can you could try deleting the book and re-downloading it - if it re-downloads in the same state then try the 'report a problem' from your purchase history :http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1933

That doesn't work. It only allows you to delete your local copy but keeps the book in your library. The instructions on Apple's site are also incorrect. They suggest going to iTunes and selecting Books from the Library menu, but there is no Books option under that menu in the current version.

If it's an ibook that you've downloaded from iTunes then (if you don't already have it installed) you need to download the iBooks app to your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch (an ibook can't be read on a Mac or PC), and you can then either (if you have the book on your computer) sync the book to your device via your computer's iTunes or re-download it directly in the iBooks app on the device (re-downloading).
To sync a book to the iBooks app, connect your device to your computer and select it on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and then use the Books tab on the right-hand side to select and sync the book to the iBooks app.

Error contacting Adobe activation service code 2001 I have been using overdrive media to read epub books now I get this error.

I've been using overdrive media for months to read epub books on my blackberry playbook now I"ve received this error and can't access books that I've downloaded. I have de authorized and re authorized my adobe ID and this is the error I have received.

I downloaded Blue Fire Reader and it requested an adobe id. I clicked on the link that was in the error message stated http//adeactivateadobe.com. Found out that if the date and time on my Ipad is wrong that it won't let me download a book. I was off 5 hours. I reset my clock settings and adobe id let me download a book from the library. I am back to using Overdrive and adobe again on my ipad.

In order to read a book in iBooks and listen to music in iTunes (multitask) I must reboot ( Ipad 2) iOS 5.1

I am using Ipad 2 iOs 5.1. Using latest version of iBooks and iTunes. All apps have been updated and iPad has been synced with MacBook Pro (Lion).
When I try to listen to music and read I have to reboot. It works for a bit then quits again. I have scoured support and communities but found no information.
Any suggestions?

ok... So maybe a little oops but heres what I discovered.
I can listen to music via iTunes and read a book via iBooks at the same time. I can not listen to a movie or music video while reading a book. I suspect the iPad2 figures I must want to watch that video or read a book but not do both. It would be interesting to see if this gets some support during developement because there are some cool concert videos that I would love to listento while I read.

How do I find out if my .epub book is DRM locked. I can't even seem to open it on my Mac or iPhone (is this a clue?). Was in Scotsdale for Arizona Bike Week a year or so back, great place.

I've been wondering about this for some time now.
I can write, make movies, read Amazon books and B&N e-pub books, watch streaming video, get on the internet with all my Macs and iPod and iPad -- all my book purchases are saved in iTunes on my Mac -- but, when it comes app software for my Mac Pro to read the books that Apple sells in iBooks, I cannot do it!!!
BUT! with Amazon, I can download the book, read it on my iPod, iPad, Mac Pro -- via internet or from my desktop -- watch or stream a movie on my Mac, buy stuff from Amazon on my Mac and iPod/iPad... store my books online or back them up to my Mac...
It is very frustrating to say the least.
My friend's son has a iMac.
But, they don't buy books from the Apple iBook Store because, as she puts it, "Why would I bother? My son has an iMac, but not an iPad, and he can't open the iBooks on his iMac, so I buy books from Amazon or Barnes & Noble. Then he can read them on a big, beautiful, sharp 27" screen. Plus, he can easily make the lettering bigger, if needed. Then, he can do whatever else he needs to do on his computer, all while running several programs all at once... not something that can be done on a $500-$700 iPad."

While the new MacbookPro with retina display and other systems are essential for various computing tasks, referencing and reading books without shifting to another device is a major purchasing and productivity factor. I can currently do this with Amazon, Google, VitalSource, and Nook books. The ability to seamlessly move between reading books on an iOS device, MacOS computer, or within a Web browser and have integrated highlighting, notes, social sharing and other features sync between all three is highly desirable. Without this option, I will generally need to purchase books and other content from these sources or directly from the publishers, but not Apple.

how can i publish an italian book on ibooks? i am reading on various blogs that
1. you need a US tax ID
2. there are no aggregators in italy who can help you export the content of the book to ePub files
does anybody know what can be done from here? i know that there is at least one publisher who successfully added italian books and i would like to know how he did it

I tried to open epub file in iBooks using Native Extensions.
But, AIR app has crashed when calling ANE method (following: OpenEpub).
Have problems with how to access the epub file?

Either they did an update or there's something weird going on with my iMac, 'cause like I said in my first post, I changed the Title (in 'List' view) by clicking on it and changing it, but when I closed iBooks and then opened it again, all the changes were gone and it reverted to the way it was. But now after seeing your post, I opened iBooks again, and all the changes I made to the titles are back. Its weird 'cause I triple-checked it the other day and I know I'm not mistaken about what happened.
Anyways, its good now and I wouldn't have checked it again if not for your reply, so thanks!
