HT4059 iBook issue

I am unable to search for any books apart from the ones that come free with the App. When I search on google iBook still shows an erro message" Your request could not be completed" any ideas why?

HT4059 Ibooks no longer works for bookmarks on IPAD 2 since IOS 7 Upgrade

Since upgrading to IOS7 on my Ipad 2, the booksmark feature in IBooks no longer works. If you close the book and reopen it will take you back to the beginning of the book. Very difficult to read a book and keep track of where I left off. Since the upgrade, I have not read a book on my IPad and this has been painful. Starting to wonder if they will fix the issue or if I need to move onto another device such as the Surface or Galaxy 10.

My Iphone 5 (6.1.3) was working perfectly with my Apple tv3, streaming videos, musica...
I have just upgraded both and....No AIRPLAY, Both connected, both with internet conexion but my apple tv somehow does not work properly (my ipad retina does not pick the ATV neither)
I have restarted it three time as well as conected it to itunes to restore it 3 o 4 times now...
Just getting bored...
I have restarted the router too (oddly enough someone, somewhere suggested it) but no luck so far.

HT4059 iBooks crashing frequently

Since I updated the iOS, my iBooks crashes all the time! It can be the only app running and still crashes. Any thoughts?

I have an original iPad, and can confirm iBooks 2 regularily crashes, requiring a restart of the App. This occurs intermitently with both with the sample "Life on Earth" I have, and my iBA authored iBooks.
The symptoms I've observed is that the book either just dissappears leaving the non-responsive iBooks background image, or while vertically scrolling in Portrait mode the scrolling just freezes.
Note that you shouldn't need to restart the entire iPad to recover, Simply exit the App via the home button, bring up the multitasting bar (double click the home button or 4/5 finger swipe), hold your finger on the iBook App until it wobbles, then touch the to terminate the App.
Sometimes I have found it necessary to terminate all running Apps to read the iBook without issues.
I suspect the App is optimised for the iPad 2 memory / CPU, and pushing the original iPad resources a bit too far. Hopefully they will fix this issue with an update.

Multiple ibook issues

Hello - my ibook is a G4 1.2 ghz, 256 MB RAM built in with a 512 MB DIMM, 30 GB hard drive and combo drive. Lately it's been having some issues. I wiped the disk and installed a fresh 10.4 system on it, so I do not believe any of this is software related. The startups are totally different depending on whether I run off battery power or adapter power. The adapter seems to make everything run fine, except the startup always omits the loading screen with the Apple. No matter what, it will skip showing this screen and just show the blue loading screen after it. After that everything is fine. But if I put the battery in, or try running off the battery, after startup the computer automatically goes to sleep. When I press the space bar to wake it up, it will come on for a second, and then go right back to sleep. The only way to shut it off is to unplug everything, as holding down the power button doesn't do anything.
I have tried multiple batteries that I know work (I tested them with other ibooks), and the problem is the same. I tried resetting the SMU, pulling out the airport card and the DIMM module. I tried booting in target disk mode from another machine, same problem. I can boot into single user mode but this doesn't help much. Unfortunately I don't have the AHT disk. I don't know what else to try, if there even is anything else.

Well, I highly doubt there is a loose connection, because this would not cause the machine to enter sleep mode automatically. Something is obviously giving it a signal of some sort that is being interpretted as "go to sleep". Now what would cause such a thing, I am not sure. I guess I can try to get my hand on an AHT disc somewhere, otherwise I'm just kinda guessing. It just seems odd that everything works fine if I don't have the battery plugged in. Am I missing something obvious here?

IBook G4: no video on boot... not the typical iBook issue

I just received an iBook G4 1.2Ghz that is broken. It powers on just fine, but no video comes up. I removed the 512MB stick it came with to see if that was the problem, to no avail. Then I connected the iBook to an external monitor, with no video on boot as well. But other than the lack of video, the iBook seems fine. No loud fans (widespread issue on the G4s) or noises from a dying HDD, etc. I can hear the hard drive spin up, but it doesn't sound like it's loading anything, so my guess is that it's actually not booting.
But it gets even stranger. I can't even shut the laptop down by holding the power button (last resort type thing). I held it for a solid 20 seconds before I gave up and removed the battery. To me, it seems like this is a logic board problem, but I could be wrong. Anyone have any insight into this? I had an iBook that had video problems based on a weak GPU connection to the logic board, but this is different.

You wouldn't happen to know if Apple still has their iBook G4 repair program going, do you? By the looks of the support website it doesn't look like it, but I thought I'd ask.
In a bit of curiosity, I decided to try the "C-clamp" fix for the iBook. Amazingly, my iBook booted properly only to have it lock up again and see the screen change to colored vertical lines after 20 seconds. Like I said in my last post, I had another iBook that had a graphics chip problem and sometimes experienced similar issues. So now I think my iBook has more than one of the common iBook G4 logic board problems. The black screen/fans one is described here:

I tried to shim that specific chip as stated per the instructions, but it didn't work. I also did the same thing to this iBook, that fixed my older G4... shim the graphics chip. But, unfortunately, I still don't have a working iBook as of now, despite the shim. I thought I made progress when I started getting the fan on every boot (there was no noise +at all+ before), but that has since gone away and I'm back where I started. I'll keep trying different things to fix the iBook, but it think a logic board replacement is going to happen sometime in the near future. Anyone know where to find them besides eBay?

IBook issue with IPhone 4 - '7.0.4' issue

I received the 7.0.4 update on my IPhone 4. I don't like it. I feel Apple went cheap. From the way the apps look to the various issues I have encountered. 1 issue-IBooks: I can't see purchases and Library shelf missing, the books are displayed against white background
Any one know how to fix? Appreciate the help

If you've done the update OTA try restoring through I-Tunes. I'm having battery drainage probs since the update, starting to get very tired since 7.0.
This rollercoaster is very very tiring. Apple wasn't like this.

Opening ibook issue

Hello!
I have posted a download link for my students to download an iBook I made and exported. I have tried a few different servers, including drop box shared link. Aside from one student, 20 others keep openning in iBooks and it never shows up, ibooks opens a different book that was already in iBooks.
Any suggestions?? File is just under 50mb, but we did not have this issue with one that was over 50mb. Thanks!

I did find another thread that worked. It was a duplicating a previous book and then rewriting its contents. That is why the previous book kept opening in iBooks and the other never loaded. Just created a new book from scratch and copied the entirety back into the new book from the chapter I created through duplicating. Needed to change title of book and recreate cover of book.

Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID.

HT4059 iBook store button inactive and cannot access iBook store.

I can't access iBook store, the store button is inactive, uninstalling and reinstalling the app doesn't fix the problem. I don't find any other button in the iBook app that allows me to access the store. Please help!

Navigate to Settings > General > Restrictions (enter your passcode if required-this may not be the same as your screen lock code), scroll down to the section 'Allow' and ensure you are allowed to use the iBookStore.

Can iBooks export PDF files to other apps? For example I have a document in PDF format which need to add in digital signature but iBooks do not have "open in" feature to export the document to another app which I can make a signature with stylus.

No (or at least I've ever found a way to do it). You should be able to copy them from iBooks to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases and you can then copy them into a different PDF app.

There is neither iBooks 2 nor iBooks Author in my App Store in my iPad2. There is a video in the apple website showing how students interact with their iBooks/notebooks on iPads. I don't own a computer because I don't like computers. Is a computer required for apps like this?

Lion may still be available if you call the online Apple Store, though a couple of recent threads have reported it as no longer available. If the Apple Store still has it, they will ask for your Apple ID and credit card number and will then send you a code which you can redeem in the Mac App Store.
Alternatively, you may still be able to find the USB installer at a local Apple Store or an Apple dealer, though available stocks will probably disappear quickly if they have not already. Otherwise you'll have to look for the USB installer on the open market, such as through eBay or a Mac User Group. Those USB installers are starting to rise in price.
An alternative, if your MBA supports it, would be to upgrade directly to OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. With either Lion or Mountain Lion, confirm compatibility of your exising applications and peripherals before you upgrade.

HT4059 iBooks problem

I purchased a book on iBooks and every page has an error message: error on line 1 at column 1: encoding error. Has anyone encountered this? Any ideas or suggestions? I paid for the book...how do I get it back? Thanks

Have you tried deleting the app and re-downloading it ?
If that doesn't fix it then try a reset and see if it works after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

HT4059 Ibooks download is not the book I purchased

I downloaded a sample of a book on my Iphone from Ibooks. Then I bought and downloaded the book. When I select it to read, its a different book, not the one that I bought. I deleted it and redownloaded the book again. And it still is not the book I orginally purchased. How do I get a refund? Or the correct book?

Try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that book and use the 'Report a Problem' link.
Some people have had a problem with the 'report a problem' link (it's been taking people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) - if it does that to you then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.
