HT4059 iBooks fails to load PDFs

Why does iBooks fail to load some PDFs from safari? Sometimes it eventually load a file it failed to open up to four times for no obvious reasons.

Try re-downloading it. First delete it, then download it again. iTunes will prompt you, you have already purchased this item, do you want to download it again?

  • Failed to load PDF document

I downloaded the trial version of Acrobat X. I have a couple of documents to load on a website. If the .pdf documents are created in word or from a file there is no problem. They up load and download just fine. If I scan them in Acrobat X, they are created fine but after loading to the website it gives the " Failed to load PDF document" error when I try to download them. If I view it from the website using Filezilla it views just fine. It won't load using Chrome, IE8 or Firefox. Any suggestions?
    Happy New Year!
Edit: I exported the document to word from Acrobat, then saved it as a pdf in Word, lodaded it to the web. It downloads fine. I have run the "fix Acrobat" file.

I am able to scan to JPEG,
    This has always worked before.
This is on multiple computers:  ChromeOS,  and Mac operating systems.
I have checked to see  if software update to date and it is.
I  have unplugged printer to see if that would help and did not.
Printing works fine with no problems.

Hello everyone, I've been looking into this issue,
Tom - Due to feature limitations, the abilities you are looking for don't appear to be available with this printer.  I would recommend a USB connection to scan.
Paul -  I would love to try and help you, but I do need a little information first. I am linking a few HP Support documents below that will show you how to find your product number. Also, please include which operating system you are using. Also, if you're using Windows, please include whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit. With this information and the product number we can provide you with accurate information.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
Ray84 - I would recommend updating the printer firmware:
    HP Update Software Utility
I would also suggest downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Bravo52 - What version of Windows are you running?
I would also suggest downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  • TS1702 iBooks won't load PDF files any more on my Ipad2. Anybody seen this one before?

    Hello All,
iBooks won't load PDF files any more.
I have a lot of PDF files so I thought I reached a maximum number of files or space so I deleted a lot of old files but this did not help.
I rebooted, synced, updated, restarted, etc. - everything that I can think of and I still have the same problem.
I don't remembered the last file that I loaded into iBooks, as I usually put them into collections.
I can still load PDF files into other applications like PDF Reader, but I prefer to have them all in iBooks.
    Anybody seen this one before?
    I have 64GB iPad2 and I have over 14GB free space.

There have been several threads on this topic over the last few weeks. It's not clear what the issue is, and it is not universal, but tend to effect users storing large numbers of PDFs in iBooks. Possible it has some thing to dowith capacity of the app, or specific characteristics of some of the PDFs.
You might have a look at the "More Like This" list to the left of this page.

  • Coldfusion 11 cfheader or cfcontent 'failed to load PDF document'

I have a website that worked fine with Coldfusion 10 and now I have updated to Coldfusion 11 and this code doesn't work:
    <cfheader name="content-disposition" value="inline; filename=#vPublicFile#" />
    <cfcontent type="application/pdf" file="#DownloadFolder##qryDownload.fileNameOnserver#" deleteFile="no" />
If I type in the URL directly to the PDF file it loads fine, but if I try to get it through this code then I get the message "failed to load PDF document".  Even if I change the code to allow me to save the file, I get a saved file but it won't open in acrobat.
I know the code is working code, I tried it with Coldfusion 10 again just to make sure.  Something about 11 is stopping it from working.  Any ideas?

I think that this is a iis web connector issue.
One of the worst cf update bugs I have ran into.
I have a lot of binary data served up with cfcontent, I never include "index.cfm," and almost always have query string params.
    <cfheader name="Content-Length" value="#variables.FileSizeBytes#" />
<cfheader name="Content-Disposition" value="inline;filename=#variables.FileName#" /> (inline vs attachment makes no difference)
    <cfcontent type="application/pdf" file="#variables.File#" />
    /test/  - works
    /test/index.cfm  - works
    /test/index.cfm?getPDF=1  - works
    /test/?getPDF=1  - fails
Connection:close response header value there everytime it fails:
    Connection:close
    Content-Disposition:inline;filename=abcd.pdf
    Content-Length:31739
    Content-Type:application/pdf;charset=UTF-8
    Date:Wed, 12 Nov 2014 20:59:55 GMT
    Server:Microsoft-IIS/7.5
    Response headers when it works:
    Content-Disposition:inline;filename=abcd.pdf
    Content-Length:31739
    Content-Type:application/pdf;charset=UTF-8

  • IBook "Fail to load book" HELP!

My iPhone 4S iBook app will not allow me to open any of my purchased books recently. It gives the error "Failed to load book because requested resource is missing." I noticed other users having that issue with their IPad and tried some of the solutions listed. I tried Deleting the app, deleting books (I can't get back now) signing out and resigning in, restarting my device, buying a new book and trying that, etc. Nothing has worked. I even switched to "Purchased books" both in the store (won't load) and in my library (blank). What do I do? I have soo many books on this device. Side note: This iPhone is my only Apple device, and I do not connect it to a computer or anything.

I have the same issue. I tried deleting and redownloading. That didn't work. I had to restart my iPad as well.
    delete book from iBook library
    close all apps
    restart iPad
    redownload

  • HT4059 iBooks will not load book

I just purchased a book on the iBooks app and when I tapped on it to read,it would not load.  A notification popped up saying 'Failed to load book because the requested resource is missing.' I'm not sure what that means and don't know how to fix this.  If anyone has any answers please let me know! Thank you!

Try re-downloading it. First delete it, then download it again. iTunes will prompt you, you have already purchased this item, do you want to download it again?

  • Double-clicking PDF file on Mac fails to load PDF

Using Mac, OS X Mavericks (but the problem has persisted though three versions of OS X and has continued in Mavericks: It is NOT new in Mavericks).
If Acrobat Pro is already running, double-clicking a file displays an error: The document "xxx.pdf" could not be opened. Acrobat cannot open files in the "Adobe PDF document" format. Clearly, Acrobat CAN open these documents. If Acrobat Pro is not already running, double-click xxx.pdf opens in Acrobat just fine. This has been the cast through three operating systems, and two versions of Acrobat pro. What is up?
This happens with all PDF files, which all open correctly if Acrobat is not currently running. THe files are not invalid, the file association in OS X is valid, everything works FINE if Acrobat is not already running with a PDF file open when I double-click a PDF file. Since there are a zillion questions about this online, I have to believe it's a continuing problem. It has been a problem for me for several years.
    Any thoughts? -- Ken

I just double checked and I opened Acrobat XI first then  did ⌘-H to hide Acrobat. Then I located a PDF and Double Clicked.
I've never had your issue since OSX.2.8 up to OSX.9.0 (Mavericks).  So it’s a problem with your set up or some type of Utilitity , Plugin or extension is interfering.
I don't know how to tell you how to troubleshoot.
    Try the Following:
    Restart with shift key down
    Then open acrobat.
Then Hide Acrobat and double click on a PDF.
If you don't have the problem you have a a Startup Item.

  • Error message "failed to load an application resource (internal error)" when checking form in LiveCycle preview PDF

After creating a form, when I click on Preview PDF, I am now getting an error message "Failed to load an application resource (internal error)". Not sure why this has started recently, but it makes it impossible to check my forms for clients before I send them. I can open them outside of the program in Adobe Reader, but it is faster to check the form within LiveCycle and change them if necessary. Please help!

I fixed mine! In Reader 9 and 10.0 I had disabled the ReadOutLoud feature as it kept popping up whenever it felt like it, and I don't need ReadOutLoud. What worked for me was first to purge the system of Reader 9 - the uninstall routine leaves stuff behind. Then I went into the Reader 10 program folder, located the plug_ins sub folder, and renamed it to oldplug_ins. Then I ran the repair routine which recreated the plug_ins subfoler.. All now works, except that the <expletive deleted> ReadOutLoud is up to its old tricks again, but I can live with that for now.
    Hope this helps.

If you can't open a particular ibook then try deleting it from the bookshelf via the Edit button at the top right of the bookshelf, and (assuming that it's still in your country's store) redownload it via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the app (or if you have a copy of it on your computer's iTunes library sync it back from there).
