If I have downloaded journal articles in a PDF format in IBooks, can I still make notes and highlight?
Are they ibooks, epubs, PDFs ? If they are epubs or ibooks then you might be able to either double-tap or press and hold a word and you should get a popup with one option on it being hightlight (though at least one of my ibooks doesn't get that option) - you can drag the grab points at the start and end of the word to extend the hightlighted text. You can then view your highlights by tapping the bullet point icon next to the Library button at the top left of the screen.
If it's a PDF then I think that you will need to find a different app, I don't think that you can do it in iBooks e.g. GoodReader might do what you want.

I have downloaded the latest pages update on my iPad, but my iMac still has Pages version 4.3, and I cannot find out how to update it on my desktop. The file format used by the iOS versions of the iWork apps can only be read by the new iWork apps on your Mac - i.e. Keynote 6, Pages 5 & Numbers 3. Those versions for the Mac require Mavericks, OS X 10.9. The "too old" error on a Mac comes if you are trying to open an iWork '08 or earlier file in the newest apps. If you do have the newest apps you can open the files from your iPad.
If you can't or don't want to upgrade to Mavericks & the newest iWork apps your best option would be to export/share the files from the iPad to a type an older version of iWork can read such as Word, text, Excel, etc.
Or contact AppleCare. They made this mess, let them fix it. -
I have downloaded Adobe camera raw 8.4 so that I can open raw files with pictures taken with the Sony a6000 camera. However it is not opening the images in camera raw. What can I do?
Close and restart Photoshop if you have not already done so.
In Photoshop, go to the Help - About Plug-in... menu then choose Camera Raw. What version does it say there?

i have just purchased elements 12. It will not convert a raw file for me. i have downloaded DNG convertor 8.5 but it says that my Canon 70d is not compatible. I never had a problem with my last camera canon 7d and elments 8. Can someone help me please
Did you buy PSE in the mac app store? If not, just go to Help>Updates in the editor and update camera raw and you should be able to open the raw files in PSE 12 directly without the DNG converter.

That is not a practically empty xinitrc - that file only needs one line: exec WM. Other things are entirely optional, and some of them very useful, but I'd encourage you to stick with the simplest xinitrc that will do what you require.
Is slim involved? Probably. That is the source of many problems. But to start narrowing this down, I have 3 suggestions:
1) temporarily (at least) change your inittab to default to runlevel 3 ... actually, is it currently set to 5 or 3? if it is currently 3 that would explain why slim doesn't start.
2) at a tty in runlevel 3 use "xinit" instead of "startx". Startx is fine most of the time, but it is essentially just a complex wrapper for xinit. That complexity can often iadd useful functionality, but it *always* makes troubleshooting more difficult. So for now just use a vanilla 'xinit'.
3) remove dbus-launch from your exec line in xinitrc. This is done by console-kit so it is redundant and potentially problematic. Further BOTH of these are taken care of by slim, so I'd even suggest getting both a jump start on being ready for slim and simplifying troubleshooting by removing both of them. Just make that line "exec openbox-session"
Edit: adding one more:
4) temporarily switch out openbox-session for openbox. I suspect the reason feh's setting of the background is getting overridden is due to a script or setting in openbox's autostart settings - many of these are only invoked when "openbox-session" is called, while "openbox" starts *just* the window manager itself.

When photoshop installs on windows 8, odds are you will not see it on the start page. You will need to right click on the background or if you upgraded to 8.1 then click on the down arrow at the bottom left of start page.
This will bring up a page that shows all apps. Scroll across until you see photoshop CC or photoshop CC 2014. Click on that name to bring it up. Before you do, you can right click on that name and pin it to the start page and or the taskbar. Then it will be easier for you run it the next time. -
I have windows 7 64 bit but the new itunes will not install because it can't find itunes64.msi. I have searched evertwhere on my pc. In addition, I can't uninstall the itunes and reinstall for the same reason. I can't upgrade for my icloud account.
Try the following steps:
1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

I just bought a new Iphone and when I connected it to itunes and I downloaded the backup from my last device, now I can't pass this step and every time I connect it to itunes is the same thing. You'll have to contact iTunes store support regarding your credit card information problem: http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html. I'm not clear on what you're saying about your backup. Are you saying that when you connect to iTunes it's asking you to restore from backup even though you already have?

You can try deleting the book and reinstall it. There is no reason why the book would be formatted incorrectly - assuming that you purchased this book from the iBooks Store .... And you are talking about the John Grisham novel correct?
Did you try just closing the iBooks app, restart the iPad and then try again? If you don't know how, this explains how to close an app.
