HT4059 Restart the iBook app

How do you unfreeze the app

Is the screen frozen in iBooks, or just the app is frozen (but you are able to exit it)? Press the home button to exit it. Then double tap the home button. Tap and hold on the iBooks icon. Tap the red when it appears. If you are unable to exit the app, try a reset:
Hold the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears. No data will be lost.

  • HT4059 I have ipod software version 4.2.1, but the iBooks app won't load onto my ipod touch 8GB. Why?

As it says, the iBooks app refuses to load, even though my iOS version should be high enough. Any suggestions?

The current version of the iBooks app that is in the store requires iOS 5+. Unless you downloaded a previous version of the app when it was compatible with iOS 4.2.1 and you still have it somewhere (on your computer or on a backup) then you won't be able to install iBooks (only the current version of each app is in the store)

  • I cant download the iBook app to my new iPad.

I am a complete newbie to apple, and must be missing something pretty basic, but I cant seem to download the iBook app to my iPad. I have tried twice, but it doesnt seem to have worked. When I touch the App Store icon, then the Purchased Icon at the bottom of the screen, I see an iBooks page, which says near the top left corner "installed", but it just seems to be a passive web page or an advert for the app, not the actual app itself. It shows customer ratings and reviews etc.
If I touch the Left arrow labelled Purchases at the top left of the screen, the screen moves left and shows a single item under iPad - "iBooks Purchased 17 August" (which I presume is one of my download attempts). But if I touch that item, the screen just moves right to the passive page described above.
I am stuck here, and cant move on. Can anyone help, please?  I would like to have an iBook icon on the home page, which I can use to purchase iBooks fron the iBook store. Thanks.
I have an Apple ID, and I am connecting to the internet successfully via WiFi. I have tried using iTunes on my Windows PC, and had no better luck there.

If you've tried to download it (and it showing 'installed' in the App Store indicates that it is) but it isn't showing on any of your homescreens (you've tried swiping your homescreeen to the leftto see if it's on the next screen ?) then try a reset and see if it appears after the iPad has restarted (other people have had a similar issue with iBooks and it hasn't appeared until after a reset) : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot

  • I am confused about something.  How do I read a book on my MacBook Pro?  I can't find the iBook app anywhere, which is what I use on my iPad.  The book I want to read is in my iTunes but I can't click on it.  My iBook library does not show up in iTunes.

I am confused about something.  How do I read a book on my MacBook Pro?  I can't find the iBook app anywhere, which is what I use on my iPad.  The book I want to read is in my iTunes but I can't click on it.  Some of my iBooks show up in my iTunes but they are "grayed" out.  The only books that respond in iTunes are audiobooks and that's not what I'm looking for.  Is this a stupid question?

Nevermind - I answered my own question, which is I CAN"T READ ANY BOOKS I purchased in iBooks on my MacBook Pro.  If I want to read on my mac I have to use Kindle or Nook.  Which means any book I've already purchased through iBooks has to be read on my iPad.  Kind of a drag because there are times when it's more convenient for me to read while I'm sitting with my Mac.

  • How can I get the iBook app on my Mac to backup ePubs I created with Pages on my iPad? Only seems to want to work with purchased from the ibook store.

How can I get the iBook app on my Mac to backup ePubs I created with Pages on my iPad? Only seems to want to work with purchased books from the ibook store. The problem is, once I create a document in Pages and turn it into an ePub to be opened in iBooks, I delete the document in Pages, because I don't need two copies taking up space on my iPad. Before Maverick, iTunes would backup everything in my iBook app on my iPad. If something ever happened to my iPad, all of my created ePubs would be lost and I would be screwed. I suppose I could keep everything on Pages and go to iCloud and download my documents to my Mac, but that is a lot of steps. I may have to do that if there is no other way, but I am hoping someone will have the answer for me. Pretty disappointed in iBooks app for Mac at this point.

iBooks only syncs purchased books. Others must be synced in iTunes.

You should be able to just place them in your Books library in iTunes and check to ensure that your Book library is configured to sync to your iPod when you sync your iPod to iTunes.

  • How to put a doc file in the iBook app on an iPhone

I have been successful moving PDF onto the iBook app on my iPhone 3GS but the same procedure does not with with a Doc.  There is a "DOC" category listed within the iBook app itself so I should be able to do it.
Dragging the file from "finder" into the ebook section within iTunes is how I get PDFs into iBook.  Is there a different way for Docs?
I am on a Macbook Pro using Lion  10.7.3.
    IPhone is a 3GS

It appears that doc files cannot be put on the iBook App....only PDFs and ePub files.

    Hi,
the settings are gone, i guess. But even worse, I cannot get the iPad2 to play Full HD thru the Apple digital AV adaptor using apps that support  (and advertise this), like AVPlayer HD. This definiteley used to work before one of the last iOS upgrades. (I am now at 5.1.1).

  • I have an IPad 1. I went to download 2 iBooks. I cannot down the load the latest version of the iBooks app. How do I get my money back cancel the purchase or get the book?

I have an ipad1. I went to download 2 iBooks. They failed to download. I cannot an download the latestv version of the iBooks app. How do I cancel the purchase get the book or get the latestest versionoff the app without an upgrade.?

Try downloading the current version of the iBooks app on your computer's iTunes so that the app is in your account's purchase history. Then on your iPad go to the Purchased tab in the App Store app and you should be able to download an older compatible version of the app.

  • How do I get the iBooks App from my iTunes library in the PC to my iPad?

I went into the itunes store from my PC, then downloaded the iBooks app. It wwas successful, but when I sync my iPad to the iTunes library, I don't get the app. Why? Do I need to get a separate internet service for my iPad alone so I can access the iTunes store from the iPad? Or is there a way for me to get the iBooks from the library in the PC to my iPad? I'm so confused, and I'm a new apple product user.
    Any help's appreciated

There is no option for a check mark in there. I just tried. I can see the iBooks app under Library>Applications, but there's no option for me to check it.
I tried switching to all the viewing modes, and it still doesn't appear.

  • Where can I download a copy of the ibooks app for ios 5.1

I recently purchased a new ipad air 2 and handed my old ipad to a relative who is completey new to any kind of computing.  However, I inadvertently deleted the ibook app while deleting all my info.  I want to replace the app but the current app is for ios 7+.  I need a version for ios 5.1.1.  Am I able to find a downloadable compatible copy?  If so where?

He can log out of his own account on the iPad by tapping on it in Settings > Store and then log in with your account - but if you redownload the app from your account then you risk tying the iPad to your account for 90 days : Manage your associated devices in iTunes.
Or you can you log into his account on your computer's iTunes (Store > Sign Out menu option to sign out of your account, and the Store > Sign In with his) and 'buy' the current version of the iBooks app so that it's in his account's purchase history, he should then be able to download an old compatible version of the app on his account in the Purchased tab in the App Store app on the iPad. (The 90 days should only happen if you use iTunes Match, family sharing, automatic downloads or redownloading past purchases, downloading the iBooks on his account will be a new 'purchase' so shouldn't result in the 90 days.)

  • What is the meaning, or significance, of the greyed out word "installed" next to the iBooks app icon in the iTunes list of apps on my new iPhone6, or slightly older iPad mini, retina display?

What is the meaning, or significance, of the greyed out word “installed” next to the iBooks app icon in the iTunes lists of apps on my new iPhone6, or slightly older iPad mini, retina display?  Both devices have iOS8.0.2 installed.  Both are having problems downloading some books that had been purchased previously for other devices.  And, before installing iOS8, the full list of had been downloaded to the iPad mini with iOS7.
Finding out what the greyed outness means may help me figure out how to get all my books loaded on both devices.  Any suggestions how to do that also would be appreciated.

Thank you.  Your explanation of why the word "installed" is greyed out makes sense.  But that raises the further question of why then is it shown at all.  There are other apps on both devices that can not be removed, and they are just not shown.  This is the only app that has the greyed out "install" notation.  All of the other apps shown are either identified by "remove" meaning it is installed and can be removed; "install" meaning it is not installed but can be; or "update" meaning it has been replaced by a more current version which can be installed.
All of the books that I want to install have been on an iPhone4 that was replaced by the iPhone6, and were on the iPad Mini with iOS7 before iOS8 was installed.  Installation of iOS8 on the iPad removed all of the books and only a few of them were later added by syncing with iTunes.  Since most of the books I am interested in are free or of small cost, I would be happy to delete all of them from iTunes and then reinstall the ones I want directly on the devices.  But I have not been able to delete them and when I try to install them on a device I am told that they already have been downloaded.  Very frustrating.

  • How to I update to a 7.0 so that I can add the iBook app to my ipad

How do I update to a 7.0 so that I can add the iBook app to my iPad

What generation iPad do you have?
The First generation iPad cannot be updated past iOS 5.1.1
However you should be able to get the last compatible version of the iBooks App by tapping on the install button.
You might need to download first to a computer running itunes or a device that can take the newest version before you will get the option for the last compatible version.

  • HT5071 It is possible for me to distribute my book as a PDF/word and on the Ibooks app?

    Hello,
So I am currently writing a book, and I am curious to know if it is possible to distribute my book as a PDF/word and on the Ibooks app store. I intend on making the book a free download.

It's your content - you can distribute as you like, but as noted, only via the store when in .ibooks format. As a PDF, you can do whatever you want with it.
