HT4060 ipad 4 - Should i keep charging after 100% ?

Should i keep my ipad 4 plug in even after 100%, just the way i do for laptop? As i charge my ipad twice daily from 40%, as my heavy usage is mainly on games that i play through wifi daily. and some streaming on it through my desktop pc.
right now i dont charge after 100% at all, but would it be alright and not damage my battery life!
And how long will my ipad 4 battery life will last and how to confirm how many cycle is left?

It will not damage the battery. The battery does not charge further at 100%

Once the battery was fully charged, the smart circuitry stops charging the battery.  Power is then used just for running the device, and the charging circuits will not cut back in until the battery has spontaneously drifted down by 5%-10% of a full charge (which should take days with a normal, healthy battery).
You cannot over charge any Apple device.

  • HT4060 when should i first charge my ipad with retina?

When should i charge my new ipad with retina?

You can charge at any time. However, you should recalibrate the battery at least once per month. See link below.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Ipad 2 won't charge after ios 7.0.3 update

After the ios 7.0.3 update, I had to restore my ipad2. Now, it won't charge. I have tried different plugs and outlets. I have also reset it and restored it, again. Nothing worked. Has anyone had this problem and any luck fixing it?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • Should I keep charging or unplugged it?

    Hello all,
I'm a new user, I've got a MB aluminum 2.0 in march, back then the battery capacity was 100% shows 4134 mAh. It's all starting in June, it's starting to degrade.. Now it's 97% with 3993 mAh. Did callibrate 3 times, in March, May, and the beginning of July.
    My Battery Information:
    Model Information:
    Serial Number: SMP-bq20z951-3a35-a9b
    Manufacturer: SMP
    Device name: bq20z951
    Pack Lot Code: 0000
    PCB Lot Code: 0000
    Firmware Version: 002a
    Hardware Revision: 000a
    Cell Revision: 0100
    Charge Information:
    Charge remaining (mAh): 2780
    Fully charged: No
    Charging: No
    Full charge capacity (mAh): 3993
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 66
    Condition: Good
    Battery Installed: Yes
    Amperage (mA): -789
    Voltage (mV): 11840
What I like to know is:
    a. Should I charge the battery when available or wait until it drowns?
    b. Should I leave the battery keep charging although it reaches 100% or should I unplugged it immediately?
I'm new with Mac, please do inform me. Thanks a lot.

    toothsculptor wrote:
yes, it's high cause whenever it's fully charged, I always unplugged it, then use it portable, even at home. is that okay?
Well, it's okay, but that's what will shorten your battery's lifespan. Fewer cycles=longer life. Generally.
The reason why your cycle count doesn't always drop is that one cycle=100% drain and charge. In other words, if you drain to 80% and charge five times, that counts as one cycle. Same for 50% twice. And so on.

  • Ipad does not display charging after ios 6 upgrade plugged in

After upgrading to iOS 6 OTA my iPad does not appear to be charging when plugged in using the default charging cable plugged into the AC outlet.  The battery icon has a lightning bolt through it as if it is not plugged in.

  • Ipad mini retina keep rebooting after restored the old iPad mini's setting from iCloud

    Hi All,
Today I buy a ipad mini retina and I found after I restored the setting in iCloud which was stored by my old ipad mini's setting(restore with old ipad mini by iCloud), finally found the ipad minie retina keep rebooting - show apple logo, blue screen appeared and apple logo appear.
I connect the ipad mini retina to my Mac book pro, and found that itune shows the name of the ipad mini retine is my old ipad mini's name... I think some thing damage the boot code and cause it keep rebooting,
    Please advise,
    Thanks,

  • My iPad 4 Won't Charge after iOS 7.0.3 "Upgrade"

After upgrading operating system as requested by Apple, my iPad will no longer charge. It won't charge from USB, it won't charge from Apple branded wall mounted charger and it won't charge from either source with one of two Apple branded sync cables I have tried. Both the cables and both sources of power work fine with my iPod Classic.
The iPad now has no power at all, so no form of two button re-set will work.
I have to say I am a REALLY disappointed customer.

    Hi,
From what you have said two things may have happened:
    1) There is a glitch in iOS 7 meaning it does not recognise any chargers.
    2) During the upgrade progress, the internal battery or the internal charger broke in your iPad.
    Hope this helps!

  • My ipad 3 is not charging after update to ios 6

I Just updated my ipad 3 to ios 6 and now my battery will not charge anymore?!?

Just got off the phone with Apple.  At least the wait time was short and the technician spoke clearly, but ultimately the issue is not resolved.
First thing we tried was doing a hard reboot, then reset the phone by going into settings -> general -> Reset -> Erase Content and Settings.  This was supposed to bring the phone back to IOS 5.1.1 and would confirm if it was the iOS6 or a hardware issue.  it still wouldn't charge and so we assumed it was hardware and setup an exchange.  Keep in mind this phone is less than 6 months old.
After the fact, I realized that the restore did not actually remove iOS6 and so made a second call to tech support.  After talking to a senior tech rep we discovered that once iOS6 is fully installed, there is no going back.  Especially since iTunes won't recognize the phone being connected in addition to the not charging.
I'm curious to watch this thread and see if the number of people with this problem continues to escalate.  I think 5 could still be coincidence with literally millions of people upgrading to iOS6 but if there is in fact a software issue causing it I imagine this number to increase exponentially over the next few days and weeks.

  • IPad does not keep charge

I have first iPad. It won't keep its charge. Works for a short time and then screen goes black. If I reset apple comes up and works for a few minutes.

Take it to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs test it for you.

  • 2 ipads and neither will charge after ios 8.02 update

We have an iPad 2 and an iPad 3 and updated them both from whatever version of 7 we were running to 8.02 last night. Now neither will charge. I've done hard restarts on both of them. I've tried both Apple chargers and different outlets. I've tried connecting it to the PC. Nothing. The 3 is nearly dead now and the 2 is dwindling rapidly. Both were charging just fine yesterday before we updated them. Any ideas?
