HT4060 Ipad doesnt seem to be charging

Hi I need some help if you would. I am having trouble getting past the low battery icon on my ipad (1st one).It starts charging displaying the low battery icon and then switches off completely until I press the home button it shows the same icon again and then i go through the same cycle over and over again.

Your battery has probably failed and needs replacement (see link below).
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Battery doesnt seem to be charging

As the tittle ays really. My IP4 battery doesnt seem to be charging.
Last night I allowed it to run completely flat until it switched itself off so it could calibrate the battery.
Plugged it in to charge and went to bed. Some 9 hours later, switched it on and it's only showing 3% ... Yep the mains was switched on lol
Defuncd battery maybe? Not sure as it seemed to take ages for the battery to run flat

In fact if you run it totaly empty it will be damaged beyond repair. The idear this calibrates the battery is wrong. This type of battery likes to be topped up oftern it will however take a week or so of use befour reaching peek efficiency
    You are 100% incorrect.
Please read the Apple advice on batteries here:
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html
    It specifically states:
    _Use iPhone Regularly_
For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, it’s important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. _*Be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).*_
Not sure that can be much clearer.

    Not Charge
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
iPhone and iPod touch: Charging the battery
    - Try another cable.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store or take it back to where you purchased it

  • HT4060 ipad 4 - Should i keep charging after 100% ?

Should i keep my ipad 4 plug in even after 100%, just the way i do for laptop? As i charge my ipad twice daily from 40%, as my heavy usage is mainly on games that i play through wifi daily. and some streaming on it through my desktop pc.
right now i dont charge after 100% at all, but would it be alright and not damage my battery life!
And how long will my ipad 4 battery life will last and how to confirm how many cycle is left?

It will not damage the battery. The battery does not charge further at 100%

  • Battery doesnt seem to take  charge

I have a macbook that is only 3 months old.. yesterday and today i tried to charge it and there is an x through the battery..and it definitely is not holdng a charge... i don't think that this should be doing this after 3 months.... help

Currently, there are two very similar problems with the MacBook batteries, I've found.
The first is that the computer IS recognizing that the battery is there, and the MacBook shuts down almost as soon as AC power is removed. The usual diagnosis here is that you have a bad battery.
The second variant is that the computer is NOT recognizing that the battery is there (the X through the battery literally means the computer thinks you have no battery connected), and the omputer behaves he same way as the one in the first scenario. This usualy means that you have another type of bad battery, or the battery does not have a full connection.
Either way, I reccomend that you follow these steps:
    1. test the battery by pushing the small button next to the set of LEDs on the battery pack, and make sure the LEDs light up. If they do not, the battery is most likely deffective.
    2. Make sure there is no foreign object or corrosion causing a bad connection with the battery. You should be ably to do this by removing the battery and looking at the metal contacts on both the battery and computer.
    3. Make sure your software and firmware are updated. To do this, click the apple pull-down menu in the top left corner of the sceen, and select "About this mac". Then, click the Software Update button.
    4. Reset the PRAM, PMU, SMC, and make sure the battery is properly installed. Find instructions on Apple's website.
If all else fails (or if the battery proves to b defective in step 1), call Apple or visit an Apple store to get tested, and replacements.
I hope this helped. Nobody bothered to answer my post, and I had to find this information out from a buddy of mine.

  • My iPad dosent sent seem to be charging , could it be the battery ?

My ipad dosent seem to be charging , could it be the battery ?

It could be, hopefully it isn't. First try a reset. Press and hold both the home and power buttons until the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons. Wait until your iPad starts on it's own. If it still doesn't charge try a different charger and cable. If it still doesn't charge make appointment with the Genius bar at the Apple Store.

  • HT4060 ipad does not seem to be charge.  has been plugged in for about 5 hours and low battery photo remains...cannot turn on or off... only low battery photo and apple symbol or blank page appear

ipad does not seem to be charging.  Has been plugged in for about 5 hours and low battery icon remains same...alternates with apple symbol or blank page.  cannot turn ipad on or off

The iPod Touch kept trying to reboot yesterday but would only show the Apple logo screen then shut off - it finally drained the battery overnight I am guessing. Connected to USB the battery charging icon flashes.
Took it back to Best Buy, but they wouldn't touch it or replace it since it's under warranty.
To any potential buyers - beware. My best advice is to look somewhere besides Apple. Every Mac user I know has had to return a Mac, laptop, etc. Really poor quality control, and the retailers agree (Geek Squad told me they have had the same experience with Apple products).

  • I have tried all sugestions for how to charge my ipad 2 that no longer charges, and nothing seems to work, can anyone offer any new advise?

I have tried all sugestions for how to charge my ipad 2 that no longer charges, and nothing seems to work, can anyone offer any new advise?

While both the iPhone and the iPad use an Apple dock cable for charging, the iPad wants a 1100 mA charger, and the iPhone charger's a 500 mA charger. USB ports on newer Apple computers can switch into 1100 mA mode, but your average computer is going to put out no more than 500 mA and, possibly, quite less (for example, an un-powered USB hub will only put out 100 mA or so, and an iPad won't charge off that). The iPad will say "not charging" if it is trickle-charging (receiving less than 1000 mA of power).
If the problem persists when using the 1100 mA iPad charger, you need to take it to an Apple store and have it serviced or replaced. Bring the iPad charger that you received with the iPad as it may be that the charger is defective and not putting out 1100 mA.
If the problem is that it charges slow because it's being connected to iPhone chargers or PCs or older Macs, then it's not a problem with the iPad. It's charging, it just takes a long time because you are using an under-powered charger.

hey i just pulled my old ipod out of my attic and it doesnt seem to turn on i charged it for two days but nothing happened does anyone know the problem?

Given that it probably hasn't been used in years, it's likely that the battery is shot and in need of replacement.  However, the damage may be more than that, since it won't even power on, so it's hard to say for sure.

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.

I just ran into this. You have to make sure you're using an iPad charger (the bricklet is larger) in a wall outlet. Leave it alone for several hours, then do the reset while it's still plugged in (hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go). It should make a comeback.
