HT4060 is it best to use up the battery before recharging?

is it best to use up the battery completely on ipad mini before recharging

Not at all. Use it until you need to to want to charge it. I charge my iPad every night no matter where the indicator level is. The battery will stop charging when it reaches full capacity and will not overcharge. I don't even perform charging cycles with regularity any more.

I'd just like to say that ahs70's post on Dec 1, 2013 at 1:17am on Pg. 9 worked for me as well: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5338609?start=120&tstart=0
If your iPhone's battery is acting up you need to determine if it's a software issue or a hardware/battery issue.  To do that, after syncing your iPhone, erase/hard reset all data and settings from your iPhone to what it was from the factory as new.  This can be found in Settings/General/Reset/Erase All Content and Settings.  Then test it out for a day or two.  If it's still acting up then it's likely a hardware issue and you will need to get your battery replaced.  If your warranty is done than check out this link to get a battery kit to replace your iPhone battery yourself:  http://www.ifixit.com/Store/iPhone/iPhone-5-Replacement-Battery/IF118-001#produc tDescription
If your iPhone is now working properly after hard resetting it than it's most likely a software issue.  This battery issue only started after upgrading to the new iOs7, so it is obviously related to the update not properly installing itself.  What has worked for me and many others is to manually update to iOS 7.0.4 using the full downloaded version of the update which is about 1.32 Gigs.
But first you need to find out what model of iPhone you have, click here to determine if it's GSM or CDMA: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3939?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Then go here and scroll down to download the iOS 7.0.4 complete update for your device:  http://www.downloadios7.org/download-ios-7-0-4-ipsw-file.html
Then scroll up on the download page and follow the instructions of updating your iPhone manually following the instructions below:  "IPSW with iTunes"
    And your done.
    Problem solved.
I only posted this because it was a very frustrating problem that no one really seemed to figure out a solution for.
    I hope this helps.

I'm having some problems with my ipad and charging it. I am having to leave it in charge for a lot longer, but when I take it out and want to use it the battery is still not completely full and goes down a lot faster than usual. The other day, I had charged  my iPad overnight so that I could take it to university with me for the day, and when I had switched it on the next day the battery was on 5% and I had not used it since charge.

Your battery may be dying. THey are only good for so many charges/discharges. If you have an apple store near by make an appointment and have them check itout

Is it best to fully charge the battery when you first get your laptop?
I remember buying a bluetooth earpiece and I had to do that in order get the most out of the battery due to the memory it has or something like that..
    are macbooks the same??

I agree. I HATE having to wait for the battery to charge on my new Palms and Macs before using them - I guess GOD teaches us patience in strange ways (hee, hee).

My ipad seems to now be using up the battery much faster. What do I need to check. Also seems to charge slow.

im not too sure about the slow charging, but i would recommend altering the way in which you use your ipad i.e turning your brightness as far down as possible, making sure you close all your apps etc... smaller things like that have a massive effect. my phone battery was awful at the start, however simply lowering the brightness has made it way more efficient and it has a much longer life.

  • HT4060 What's best for maximizing the life span of the battery, to run out the battery before charging it again or to charge it before it drains out completely?

I usually charge my iPad after all the battery drains out but someone told me it damage the software so I wanna know if draining out the full battery is good or not. Thank you.

Lithium based batteries as in the iPad do not respond well to repeated draining.

  • What and how is the best way to keep the battery strong?

Im new to owning a Macbook Pro and I was wondering how to make sure the battery stays strong?

No: draining to near 0% is not advisable. It's best to charge recharging at 20%:
    http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/04/ask-ars-the-best-way-to-use-a-lithium-ion -battery-redux/
For the rest: use it as you please. But don't forget to use the battery every now and then.

  • How can I tell if my iPad 3 is using up the battery too quickly?

I have only used my iPad a few times so far, and the battery isn't down to zero, but I still worry that that battery isn't holding its charge because it seems that every time I look up @ the battery indicator it has gone down a point or two, something I don't notice with any other device. Roughly how much power should it lose in an hour of light use, i.e. not streaming videos??? Should the percent go down a point or two every few minutes?
    Thanks.

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • HT204368 I have a blueant Q2 bluetooth.  Previously I had a Plantronics, and a Jawbone.  All three headsets use up the battery in 4 to 5 1/2 hours.  Actual talk time only about 5  to 10 minutes maximum. What might cause this.

My bluetooth battery dies in approx. 4 - 5 hours. it's supposed to have 5 hrs talk time, 100 hrs. standby.  At the time it dies I've only used about 5 -10 minutes of actual talk time.  This is the 3rd bluetooth that has done this.  I could use some help here.  Thanks.

    Hi,
I don't have the same problem as you but I know how to conserve energy battery.   Don't pay $49 extra service as it is a waste of money.  They don't do much and most likely at last they will tell you to contact your carrier and worst of all you need to send in your phone to have it check out.  It is a waste of time and they will give you a temporarily use phone that may not be a smartphone and worst of all you have to a fee and a deposit to use the temporarily phone.  It is not fair.  Don't you agree that the Carrier and Blackberry should pay for the issues?  Why does the customer have to pay for it?  It is not fair and there is no logic to it. the $49 is just for Blackberry to make more money to increase their bottom line in my opinion.  What ever the reason it is, it just does not feel right for the customer to absorb the cost.  Afterall, the customer did not cause the problem.  Right? Then, why does the customer have to pay for an issue, which customer did not cause?  why and why?  It all comes down to one logical conclusion.  Blackberry is not act on the Customer's best interest. To me, it seems like th bottom line and profits are more important than the customer needs.  WRONG WRONG WRONG AND WRONG BELIEVE.  Without the CUSTOMER, there is no BLACKBERRY.  It is  that simple.
    Here is how:
    1) Don't over charge the phone.  Once the phone charge.  Unplugg the the charger and let the battery drain until the last bar in yellow shows.
    2) watching too much videos drain the battery.  Be aware of it
    3) Turn off all application you don't use,  Facebook, Linked in for example.  Just sign out.
    4) Change the display intensity to minimum
    5) vibration mode and call sound drains the battery quickly.  Choose sound mode only.

  • W530 Blackout! whilst using on the battery.

    hi all
I am new to this forum so hope I am posting in the right place.
Today my W530 shut down for no aparent reason. No BSOD or anything just dead! I assumed it was the battery but turned it back on and the battery was still half full.
It was as if the power supply had been cut, so I  am wondering if it is something to do with the fact that the battery flaps around in the back like a loose tooth.
Just wondered if this has happened to anyone else?
and also if other peoples batteries rattle around in the back of their W530's like mine does?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi, k_ser
I have never used a W530 with a loose battery, nor have I heard of the issue. If the battery is loose, then that should explain the computer suddenly shutting down. If possible, I would recommend calling support and seeing if they can ship you another battery that hopefully fits better. The support number for the UK is 01475-897-163, though they will not be open again until Monday at 9am, unfortunately.
    Hope it helps,
    Adam

I just bought a macbook air and i'm wondering if I should wait for the battery to fully charge before I turn the computer on (like you usually do with phones, cameras etc.)
or can I just plug in the AC charger and get started right away?

    Hi Alice,
I recommend you check out this article for some advice.

A good practice that I follow is to do a battery calibration right away and then plan to do one about every 4-6 weeks.

  • My iphone 5 battery is draining like anything, after updating it to ios6.0.2, when i use 3G the battery in 2.5hrs from 100% brcomes 40%,

Is Apple making a new software update to fix this bug.

Sorry, but the warranty for the iPhone is only valid in the country where you bought the device.
In most of the cases 3rd party apps or settings caused the battery to drain faster than before the new software has been set up. Sometimes the mail app tried to connect to the mail server over and over again, deleting and setting up the mail account can solve this problem.
In other cases social media apps did similar things to the phone.
Here are some suggestions for getting back the normal battery life, maybe they are helpful for your problem with your iPhone 5 as well.
