I had my Iphone 3gs reseth after reset asking for activation when I click to activate a note comes up it can not be activated the server is temperarly unavailable no matter how many times I tryed

When you said you had it reset, did you not do this yourself? Has the device ever been jailbroken? Try this support document and restore the device http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808.

I had completed a back up from my old 3G phone onto itunes to then restore the info on my new 4S, however as i attempted to restore the previous back up onto the new phone it asked for a passWORD (not passcode), but it doesn't accept the password i use with Apple ID to log on, so when would i have set this password? When i first ever set up my phone on itunes? wouldn't it be the same as my Apple ID password?

Do you know how I can fix taht for his phone? Any settings I can turn off that will prevent all of my apps/contacts, etc from auto populating his phone?

FC Studio apps asking for serial but not accpeting it

I just went to use DVD Studio Pro and it asked me for my serial number. I pasted it in but it would not enable the OK button. OK, I thought, this is part of FCStudio so I launched FC5 and got the same thing. In fact I launched all of the apps and the same thing happened.
I then remembered that my logic board was replaced last week.
Could this be the problem and how can I get the apps to accept my serial?

ANSWER: Re-Install !!!!
I tried removing the ID files but to no avail.
I struck this issue while at home, away from my install discs.
On arriving at work I grabbed the discs and loaded them. The installer asked for the serial and I pasted it in. NO GO. So I deleted that and retyped it in.
Voila, the continue button worked and the installer proceeded.
Launching the apps also invoked the registration dialog.
(Of course I then needed to go through updating the things!)
It indeed seems likely the ID files written on instal hash or in some other way combine the serial with a hardware ID (probably logic board serial) and check this key on each launch.
It would be good if this was explained somewhere in the install docs so that users where aware of it.

Lightroom 4.3 asks for serial but not for login info for cloud

I istalled the 64bit version of Lightroom 4.3 but it asks for a serial number bu there is no place for log in info. I know I can use the application manager but I ONLY want the 64bit verion. I can't find any options to select unless I am just dumb. Who installs both 32 and 64 bit at same time anyway. 64 is always better with the more memory allocation available as I got 32GB of it.

Months ago, I had a routine clearout of old software boxes etc and chucked out my Lightroom 1.0 box. A couple of weeks ago I reinstalled Lion on my mac to find that I cannot register Lightroom. I have the 3.0 upgrade serial, the 2.0 upgrade serial, but the 1.0 was on the box..
I followed the instructions above to find the files in crashplan form before the fomat that hold the registration details. I have tried placing them in the location described, but it doesn't seem to work.
The serials (or something) are in the file, but given in the string that is difficult to decipher - and doesn't work in the registration screen, wrong size and a mix of letters and numbers rather than just numbers as my 3.0 serial is.
Any suggestions for what I could do? Could I send the strings in to Adobe to be deciphered? Perhaps move files around a bit more?

I tried to switch from my old e-mail adress to my new, because the older is not alive anymore (delete back in 2010), and I want to switch to the new, but then, Skype asks for my password, and I give it, but always returns with a not correct password error. What can I do?

I'm afraid that you may be confusing two different 'passwords' - there's your Apple ID (the user name and password that you used to get into these forums) and then there's your computer user name and password - usually two seperate user names and passwords.
If you want to change your password for your user account on your computer, go to System Preferences>Users & Groups and unlock the preference pane. Then you can select your user name and change your password there. Changing a user name is a bit complex and I don't think you want to try that!

Home sharing works for movies but not music?

I have Home Sharing turned on my imac. It works fine streaming movies and tv shows to my Apple TV, Mac Mini and ipads. The media is stored on a NAS.
My problem is with music. When on the ipad, I open the Home Sharing folder. Only half a dozen albums show up. The artwork is all mixed up. On Songs, there are several hundred, but they are not properly listed (eg a hundred or so under "A", but they do not begin with the letter "A".
I've tried retarting everything.
I've tried deleting the library and rebuilding.
I've tried creating a new library on imac.
I've tried creating a new library on NAS.
Nothing seems to work.
Any ideas anyone?

After digging and reading since I posted this question, I finally found the issue. My Cisco VPN client was set to stateful firewall (always on). When I turned off this setting, all machines worked for iTunes sharing. The Vista box was coincidentally working because the Cisco VPN client 4.6 didn't work on Vista.

You need to delete the trial & then reinstall from the boxed DVD. The files to delete are the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications; the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support & the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences for each user.
Yvan Koenig has written an AppleScript that removes the files. You can find it on his iDisk in For_iWork > iWork '09 > uninstall iWork '09.zip.

On the MacBook, open up the Preferences dialog and go to the Sync panel. Click the Manage Account button so it shows more options, then click on the My Sync Key link to show you the Sync Key.
The sync key is the same as the secret phrase, it was renamed in recent versions of Firefox Sync.

Hi there,
I have three pages in my application (aside from the login page) that are publicly accessible; ie, they have the 'Authentication' field in the page attributes set to 'Page Is Public'. Two of the pages work fine; they are accessible to unauthenticated users and display without hindrance. However, the third page always displays the login page instead of the page itself.
There are differences between the way the pages are referred to. For example, setting pages' caches to be cleared, so I have tried using URLs with these components being the same and still get different behaviour. Also, they differ in setting variables in the URL so again, I have tried both setting variables and not in both the working and non-working pages and always get different behaviour.
This is most strange behaviour; I have, within the same application, pages which should work the same way but don't. I would create a test case but the test case already exists within the application (the working public pages) and doesn't cause a problem.
What reason could there be that one page set to be publicly accessible works fine with unauthenticated users but another page asks for authentication?

Hi Dimitri,
There's been a misunderstanding here. I don't use caching. What I mentioned was regarding the ClearCache component of Apex URLs (the 6th component.) Any pages listed in this component will have their item values cleared. This is distinct from Apex's rendering cache which appears to be what you're referring to.
The issue is to do with different authentication behaviour in pages with the same settings.

First, make sure caps lock is not on.
Another reason why your password might not be recognized is that the keyboard layout (input source) has been switched without your realizing it. At the login screen, you can cycle through the available layouts by pressing the key combination   command-space or command-option-space. See this support article.
If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise*, start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities window appears, select
          Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar at the top of the screen—not from any of the items in the OS X Utilities window.
In the window that opens, type this:
res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens. Close the Terminal window to get it out of the way.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
Select
           ▹ Restart
from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but your Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it.
*Note: If you've activated FileVault, this procedure doesn't apply. Follow instead these instructions.
