i lost my ipod in the schoola nd i do need to how to find it !!! BTW i have not installed the app find my iphone !! so what can i do to find my ipod !!! and i dont have the imei number too !!! but serial number is their with box !!! serial number is in the box !!!

For future reference, the find my iPhone app has nothing at all to do with making your lost device findable. The app is used on an iOS device to track another iOS device.
To make a device trackable, you need to setup an iCloud account and enable the find my iPhone slider under that account's settings. You can then track that device from your iCloud account in a web browser, or with the app on another iOS device.

Quickest place to look is in the label attached to the box the phone came in.
Not around anymore? Maybe the carrier you used the phone with can facilitate the information. Also, when under contract, the IMEI is listed in the paperwork. Apple, alas, is quite unhelpful with that information. -

Call Apple anyway. If the device was ever registered with then they will have the serial # on file and can look you up by other info such as your name or phone number.
To re-enable an iPad any computer with iTunes should work. However, if your data was not backed up to iCloud you will not be able to access it until you get back to your home computer. -

- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

To delete your iCloud account from Settings>iCloud they have to enter your ID password.
The can place the iPod in Recovery mode and they restore the iPod but they will have to enter your iCloud ID and PW to activate the iPod.

Unfortunately, no. The serial number will only help you file a claim with your insurance company and a police report. The IMEI number will help your carrier blacklist the phone so it cannot be used on thier network. But you needed to enable Find My iPhone on it before it was lost in order to track it.

I also suggest, if you have enabled geo-localization and have associated an iCloud account to your iPhone, to localize your iPhone through a map on http://www.icloud.com. You may also block your iPhone, send a message to the iPhone and erase all your data.

The SN will not help at all. If wifi is on then call it with FaceTime, Skype, Messages or other app that uses a notification sound and listen. That is the only way. You can also just look for it the old fashioned way.

No, you can only potentially track it if you have Find My iPhone enabled on it, you can't do it via the serial number.
If this isn't hypothetical, then if your iPad has been stolen then you should report it to the police. You should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc. and contact your carrier. -
