I just did a software update on my phone (finally) last night and now my phone will not come on. It keeps showing the charger pointing up to a blue circle with iTunes inside and will not go any further. Can ANYONE help me please???
The phone is in restore mode and the picture is telling you what to do. Connect the phone, by cable, to iTunes in the computer you normally use for syncing, and retore the phone.

It means something didn't go right during the update and your iPad is in Recovery mode. The same thing happened to me during the IOS 8.1 update. You need to connect it to iTunes on your computer, update it, and restore it from your iTunes or iCloud backup. If like me you don't have a computer take your iPad to the Apple Store and they will help you with the Restore process.

I just did a software update that was apparently for iPhoto. When I try to open iPhoto it stops at "step 5" and will not go further. what do I do?
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Tried to upgrading ipad 1 from itunes and l guess it did not complete the process because all I have showing on the ipad is the itunes logo with the usb cable. When l try to connect it to my system, it resquest that a driver be used to install the device. Please help! How do I restore?
Restoration is relatively simplistic. Here's whatcha do. Plug your ipad in, open itunes, now if itunes doesn't recognize it then you may have a problem, anywho, click on the ipad in the devices interface and go to the info tab, click restore, and it'll be just like it was when it left the factory. To get you data back, it should ask if you would like to use a backup, just select the backup you want and you'll be good to go. That is if you regularly backed up your iPad.

I did a software update and cannot get my phone to turn off, on, or anything. It shows a gray apple and then an iTunes icon with a USB cable picture. I am not able to connect to my iTunes account because it's on my home computer (I'm traveling). It won't let me add my laptop because it says I have it tied to too many computers already and I can't deauthorize any of those computers because I don't know what they are, and I'm traveling. Can anyone help make my phone usable again? Preferably with contacts in tact.
Pleeeeease!A drop or two of water may have been enough to cook it. If it was bad enough to prompt you to put it in a bag of rice, then I'd venture to guess it was more than a drop or two.
Try putting it back in the bag of rice and leave it there for several days.
If that doesn't fix it, then you're more than likely looking at paying for an out of warranty replacement.
Water and delicate electronics don't generally get along well. -

Download the 10.6.8 combo release from the Apple download site. Use Disk Utility (on your hard drive in applications/utilities) to repair permissions, then apply the combo release, then repair permissions again. That sometimes fixes odd system errors after a Software Update.

About two days ago my shuffle started to send me an error message that it cannot connect with iTunes because it's not formated properly.

Just did a software update and now my mac won't boot
On Monday I did my Apple update, and when I tried to reboot after the update I was greeted with a circle with a line through it. I still get the moving circle on the bottom, but it never boots.
I do not have my original install disc, but I was able to use another G4 install disc to repair disk permissions and repair the disc. After doing so, I still have the same issue.
Any ideas would be really helpful. ThanksSince Disk Utility can see your drive that is at least a good thing. I am just trying to establish where you stand on booting. Normally if you can boot but experience problems then you can try Disk Utility to repair the drive, which obviously doesn't work in your case. Next is Safe mode which starts up pretty much normally but bypasses some things, and that too is not working. Single User Mode takes you to a text presentation boot stage.
Once one starts with the stronger medicine it is a good idea to back up your data files at least in case the things you do make the drive worse. Booting into TDM makes your computer act like a giant external hard drive and gives you the chance to copy off those files, assuming your friend has the room on her computer. Then you're more at liberty to experiment with different things to get your computer up and working again. If nothing works you always have the option of reinstalling OSX. You might consider an archive and install, or if you can copy your files off elsewhere just reformat the drive and do a clean install and rebuild everything.
It may be a case where you may have to buy a utility like Diskwarrior which does things like Disk Utility repair but much more. Or if Diskwarrior doesn't work and you do need your files you may have to let a program like Data Rescue II have a go at recovering the files (but will need an empty harddrive at least the size of the data on your computer).
At this stage you might also start looking at external bootable hard drives, both because it might come in handy now and also because you'll be able to backup your computer in the future in case of a repeat occurrence. -

You should make sure to correct that as soon as possible. All computers, regardless of make and model, are ticking time bombs. Hard drives can die at any time, leaving you with an inert chunk of metal that may still contain your data, but in a form that is totally inaccessible without paying thousands to a company that will disassemble the drive in a clean room and read what data they can off the platters.
I wonder why should that happen. It was a simple update. Why should an update ruins all my works and my computer...
It is not the update itself, but the fact that you had corruption in your hard drive's data structures, and writing the thousands of files required by the updater worsened that corruption, damaging the system in the process. These problems can be avoided by repairing your hard drive with Disk Utility prior to installing any system update. Most likely, Disk Utility won't find anything to fix, but when it does, you'll be glad you did it before installing the update! -
i have been unable to use my iphone for going on a week. It started by shutting down when ever I'd try to use it. Now it has just a dead black screen. If i plug it in it doesn't charge And the flashing apple continues every 2seconds never charging or turning on. I'm frustrated because I can't even get in to troubleshoot. Make an appointment at the genius bar are your nearest Apple store. At this point there is nothing you can do without a computer, so if you don't have one and don't know anyone who has one that you can use the Apple store is a good fallback.

I have had firefox since an earlier 2. version and have been able to upgrade as normal. After the installation is done it will not open at all. I have restarted and even uninstalled all previous version .exe and still nothing. I am using windows 7 OS. I am still running 3.6.8 and would love to see the new one running on my laptop.
