HT4061 how to downgrade ios6 to ios5?

I just updated my iphone 4 to ios6 but I cannot connect thru itunes. because itune needs to update to 6.03 version. thing is my mac is old version like 2007 macbook pro so I can't upgrade my os to 10.6 +... Can anyone tell me how to downgrade my iphone to ios5?......this *****;

I do have a pc too. for right now I only have my old macbook pro since I moved to NY for working. So I only have a mac to synk to iphone.. "Sunnycide" so you are saying I have to purchase another mac to do this thing....sigh
beside I do have snow leopard and mountain lion OS cds which are not readable in my macbook pro. as I mentioned, a guy in apple store said mine can't upgrade. It only works in 2008 macbook pro(later) model at least..
should i install vmware?? please give me any solutions that are not costing any $ to doing this. Thanks for all comments by the way...;

because seemingly, we haven't purchased our devices from apple but have got them on rent!!! and therefore, we are not allowed to use the os of our choice. we have to use what apple thinks is good for us.
i love their hardware, software, experience and all but their attitude towards policing their customers is totally unacceptable.

I want to downgrade my ipad3 and iphone 4s from ios6 to ios5.1.1 so that I can use Google Maps again. I need to do this before my travel season starts in about a month. If this can't be done in time then I'll have to look elsewhere.

On my PC I have fropm the last synchronisation IOS5. Unfortunately upgraded to IOS6, which I deeply regret. Got already an answer that Apple does not allow downgrading.
But what happens if I connect to Itunes, mark "repair" whereby I am give the choice to repair either from scratch or from my last synchronisation (which is IOS5)

Sadly, Apple is amazingly good at keeping users from downgrading an iPhone. For some reason, a prior update (5.1.1) bricked my 3GS, and that's how I learned the hard way how firmly Apple had control of the upgrade/downgrad process. I find that annoying, as well as the fact that Apple "pushes" (figureatively and literally) updates on users, many of whom simply update immediately, without realizing there could be a downside. I've been amazed at how many non-techy iPhone using friends have complained to me about maps, and they wish they had never updated to iOS 6.
Anyway, I'm still using iOS 5 on my iPhone 4S, as I just feel too attached to my good old Google-based Map app (and the web version of Google Maps is really very different than the App version -- I tried it, thinking I would finally update my iPhone, but was really dissatisfied with the web version). I do know iOS 6 is superior in many ways, but for now, I am just that attached to my good old Map app.

You cannot. Downgrading is not supported by Apple.

If it's showing the connect to iTunes screen then you will need to do that.
But Apple don't provide any method to update the first gen iPad to iOS 5 (nor do they support downgrading the iOS version).

Downgrading the iOS is not supported. If you are using Safari this try clearing its cache via Settings > Safari.
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

The iPhone 4 is very old. The reason IOS 7 isn't that great for you is because its running old hardware. Yes Apple were very kind to let you guys have IOS 7 but at the end of the day iPhone 4 really wasn't made for it. That's why iPhone 4 cannot have IOS 8

You don't. You need to get iOS 5 compatible Apps. You can however try to get older compatible versions of apps that currently require iOS6.
Download the App you want to a computer running iTunes or an Apple device that can support the new version using the Apple ID from your iPad.
Then go to the Purchased tab in the App Store App and look for the App there. You'll get a prompt that the App is not compatible, but it should offer to download a compatible version.
