Won't Turn On

RESET DEVICE
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost).

Take it back to the Apple Store for repair since it's still in warranty.

My kid just got an iPod 5th gen (today from Santa) and it won't power up or charge. The only response is when I connect the USB and press the power button or front button the Battery appears with red line and lightning symbol. No other response at all.

My kid just got a brand new iPod 5th generation (today from Santa) and it won't power up or charge. The only response is when I connect the USB and press the power button or front button the Battery appears with red line on left and lightning symbol below. There is no other response at all no matter what I do, including holding both buttons down for extended period. My other kid got one and it works perfectly.....I have interchanged usb cables ports etc. but still no response....I would really appreciate any help.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since you have a hardware problem with the iPod. This is because as you said the same cable works with another iPod.

If you are having issues with recharging your iPhone's battery, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
iPhone and iPod touch: Charging the battery
In particular, this section -
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge until your device turns on. This could take between 10 and 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue persists, please contact Apple Support.

I am unable to tell when the battery is completely charged. I have showing the battery symbol with the bolt-this is present even when the device is not being charged. And it is always showing 2% charge.

Are you using the AC wall charger?

Depending on the model of MBP, buy a new battery or take it in for servicing to get a new battery. You could also try an SMC reset to see if that helps, but your symptoms don't sound like the ones normally solved by a SMC reset.

If your model Macbook Pro is the calibrating model, let the battery calibrate.
If not, and are still under warrant or have Apple Care, give them a call and get a case number. Otherwise, take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you.

Charge it for 30 minutes with the wall charger, then hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time for up to 30 seconds. If nothing happens your phone is probably broken.

I have just tried to power down my iPhone 3G. It seems to be locked on the rotating dial symbol and will not powere down - how do I either stop this and get it to either power down or boot up?
