HT4061 iPad Update problem

I accepted the invitsaiton to update my IOS this morning via WiFi.  When it finished, I had an icon tellimg me to connect to iTunes.  FOllowing that instruction, I;m now tol dthat the iPad is in recovery mode and my media will be erased.  Did I make a huge mistake in accepting that invitation?

I'm sorry. I don't use a PC and know nothing about Windows. On a Mac, you are able to set those types of things in the system preferences. See if this points you in the right direction.
Open Power Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then clicking Power Options.
I copied the information from here.

  • IPad update problem

I have an IPad 2 version 4.3.5. I cannot update my apps or get icloud on it because it needs to be updated. When i plug it into my laptop and try to update it to the latest ios from itunes it runs for a while but near the end of the update it stops and says network error cannot complete update. I have checked my network and always have full connection sometimesi will be using the internet on another device or watching netflix on apple tv and neither will have internet problems. I have tried to update it multiple times on different days and it always does the same thing. Can anyone help?

    No specific error messages ?
If not: I'd recommend turning off security software(temporarily), like firewalls or virusscanners and try updating again
if that fails: try updating from another computer and another network.

  • IPad Update Problems

My iPad 2 got stuck in a never ending loop of rebooting itself when I tried to update it to the newest iOS (Version 6.0.0). I've tried resetting all the data multiple times by setting the iPad into DFU and recovery mode and restoring it on iTunes but neither of those methods worked. It would get to the point where the iPad finished resetting and was restoring the data from the backup when it disconnected from iTunes and started rebooting itself again. I would really appreciate some help since I've looked over various posts online but couldn't find many situations similar to mine. Thanks in advance!

Just an update I'm probably going to bring the iPad in to the apple store for the Genius Bar to take a look at it but I'd like to come up with a solution before that, since I'm not sure if they'll be able to fix it and if they will replace it for free.

  • HT4972 1st gen iPad update problems

I have updated my 1st gen. iPad to iOS 5 but when I try to restore it comes up with could not connect because the pairing record is missing? Help!!

Restart the iPad, reboot your PC and try again. Try another USB port on the PC as well.

  • HT4623 iPad update problem

I downloaded iOS 7.0 for iPad and now I cannot move past the Hello screen.  It is like the whole touch screen feature is not working.  I tried shutting the iPad down and even restored it from a back up, still not working.

You may or may not have done this already, but try this
Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesnt work, then restore as new, not from backup

  • HT4061 iPad app problem ... very weird!

Recently sold my iPad, 3rd generation, after purchasing the new iPad Air. I did indeed do a reset on the ipad 3 before I sold it. The new owner contacted me and said that it's currently downloading apps and music automatically. These are apps and music that I had purchased. He hasn't downloaded anthing himself. I would have thought that doing a reset would have prevented this from happening. Any suggestions? Thank you!

This is a known bug ("feature"?) where certain letter combinations are blocked. These blocked combinations are fixed and not related to the dictionary - no way to learn the desired spelling. There is hope that this will be fixed in the 3.0 firmware.

  • IPad update Error- There was a problem downloading the software for the iPad .... network settings

"iPad update Error- There was a problem downloading the software for the iPad X you do not have enough access privileges for this operation. Make sure your network settings are correct and your connection is active, or try again." is the error. The rest of iTunes, sycning, and ipad operations work. I am on OSX 10.6.8. iTunes is the most recent addition.
I've been having this problem for a while but it has yet to go away. Any help please?

OK. Good. The most likely culprit is either your firewall or anti-virus software. Temporarily disable both while you are doing the update (then, of course, turn them back on when you are done).

    Hi ..
Follow Apple's instructions for recovery mode here >  iOS: Unable to update or restore
You can restore from a backup.

  • Can't upgrade my ipad2 to ios5 .. itunes says ipad update server not found

I have my main desktop I use for setting up my new iPad2.  Syncs fine, but when I tried to update to ios5, keep getting message that ipad update server is not available, check internet connection.  Itunes sees the internet, because it allows me to connect to the istore .. etc. Changed cables, I have tried it with firewall on, and firewall off .. makes no difference.  The test shows no connection, but you can see by the diagnostics that it did connect.
    PC is XP Pro,
I could connect fine from my laptop, working on same home network, however if I upgrade, it will dump all my apps .. I don't want to lose everything.
Is there a way to unsync my desktop, then sync with my laptop instead, backup, then do the update from my laptop?
Here is the info below ..   Thank you ..

    iPad wifi problems with IOS6

iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Why won't my iPad update

My iPad won't update!!!   The newest version and the one I'm trying to get is 7.1.2. The Install now button is there but when I click it it has me enter my passcode then I agree to terms of service (which I think are just stupid because no one reads it) and then it says it's verifying the update. Now it loads for like 30 seconds then stops and a thing pops up saying "software update itnot available at this time. Try again later."

    IOS is 7.1.1

    Hello Animalman526,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand you're having issues with downloading the iOS 7.1.2 update over the air.  Rather than doing this update OTA, please attempt to update your iPad through iTunes by following the article below:

  • Ever since I downloaded the lastest ipad update I can not watch videos

ever since I downloaded the lastest ipad update I can not watch videos

    Basic troubleshooting steps.
Quit the videos app completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or - Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or try this - Swipe to the right from your first home screen to get to the iPad Spotlight search. Type in the name of any of your movies in the field at the top. When the movie appears in the search - tap on it and it should start to play. Let it play for a minute or so - hit done - go back to videos app and see if all is OK.
Or - Check Settings>General>Restrictions and see if you have content restricted that is preventing you from watching the movies.
If your problem is of a different nature, please describe it.
