HT4061 update stuck at 'waiting for iphone'

Yesterday I woke up to see my iphone bricked. Itunes detected my phone in dfu mode. Its totally bricked. So i tried to update and restore the latest ios. But while restoring the process is stuck at 'woaiting for iphone' msg...Nothing moves ahead. I dont know what to do!!! I have changed USB ports, cables but all in vain. I dont know whether its a hardware or software problem.

Hi there,
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below.

  • Tried restoring iphone 4s but is stuck on "waiting for iPhone"

My phone randomly shut off during a call and wouldn't turn back on even though it had a full charge.
I hooked it up to my Mac and did the steps to restore but when the apple icon and loading bar showed up it was stuck on "waiting for iphone" for over 2 hours. I was told to do the hard reset and try again but that also didn't work.
I went through the steps on the support page and it said to hold down the home button and allow "connect to itunes" icon to show but it wouldn't appear.
Any suggesions been working at this for a while now and it's quite frustrating.

Still haven't gotten anywhere. Even took it to a phone repair place and no one can get a solution. Contacting apple once again

  • ITunes stuck in "Waiting for iPhone" and iPhone 5's progress bar won't start loading.

I was with about 40% battery, playing a game, when my iPhone 5 iOS 8.1 suddenly turned off, it wouldn't turn back on even with 30m charging. I went to iTunes, and it recognized it on recovery mode, and I tried to restore. However, it got stuck on "Waiting for iPhone" and the iPhone was with the progress bar at 0% for HOURS. I can't find a solution for the problem myself.
    Thanks.

do you have a cdma iphone 4? becauase cdma iphones dont have a sim card slot... the providers that use cdma technology here in the us would be verizion, sprint, criket, ect... if you want to use your iphone 4 on att or tmobile (gsm carriers). then you would need a gsm iphone 4 (has sim card slot). a gsm iphone 4 is different than a cdma iphone 4 (they have different radio chips). maby you missed the sim card slot? sim card slot would be on the side of the phone.. never inside (unless it has a removable back cover like the galaxy s3 or s4), if you dont see a sim card slot on the side of the phone than you have a cmda iphone 4. can you tell me what carrier you are trying to use?

  • Was stuck on "Waiting For iPhone." Now it won't respond to the charge chord

My phone has been giving me a lot of trouble today and I've been looking all over for tips and tricks, but so far, nothing has helped.
It's an iPhone 4. One of my apps was being glitchy after a recent update, so I decided to delete it and reinstall it. When that didn't solve the issue, I decided to shut my phone off and turn it on again to see if it made a difference. Since then, it's been stuck in a loop. At first, it was stuck on the Apple logo. I managed to get it into recovery mode and connected it to iTunes, but only got as far as the "Waiting For iPhone" message.
After several attempts to get it to recover, it no longer responds to the charge chord. Pressing and holding the top and home buttons only gives me the Connect To iTunes image and when I reconnect it to my computer, ... nothing.
What should I do? Is my phone lost for good? If I take it to the Apple Store in another city, is there anything they can do, or am I out of luck because I'm out of warranty?

The message that you're getting about the USB port is Windows rather than the Shuffle, ignore this as it will all work anyway.
How were you formatting the iPod shuffle? Using Windows? If this is the case I'd assume that was probably a bad choice that Windows asked you to make.
In any case I would download the latest iPod updater from http://www.apple.com/uk/ipod/download/ - open this and then plug your iPod into your computer - update the firmware and then everything hopefully should be sorted

  • Has any one figured out how to fix an issue I'm having. My iPhone 5 randomly shuts off by itself. Then it won't turn on when i try to hook it up to iTunes it says its in recovery mode. so then i hit restore and its been stuck on waiting for iPhone.

This happened after I did a software update on my phone about a month and a half ago. My phone will randomly shut off by itself and wont come back on. I had spoke with an apple repair person over the phone who told me to hold in the home button and then plug it into my computer. When the iphone said that there was an error and gave him a code he suggested that I send it in. So I did and about a week and a half later I get it back and its on. Yet the problem still occurs. It shut off twice in the same day and for several hours would not come on. When it did I called apple again and they ran a diagnostic on my phone and said it was a software issue. So then why was it not fixed? They told me they could not duplicate the problem. And now it happens about once or twice a week now. And its happening right now. I have it plugged into my computer and the apple logo with a bar below it has been on for about 20 min now. And itunes is still saying "waiting for iphone."

    Hello Elliiee,
The steps detailed below can help stabilize your iPhone.
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?
    Contact Apple Support.

  • TS3694 No response when restoring. stuck on "waiting for iphone".

I have an iPhone 3GS running iOS 5.1.1. My phone was working fine, then suddenly went blank. Initally it showed that it needed charging and when I placed it in the charger it displayed the "connect to iTunes" symbol. I connected it to my computer and iTunes stated that the phone needed to be restored before using.
Ok, so nevermind that I lost any new data and pictures since my last sync. I had to go ahead with the process to try to get my phone back. The restore process started fine and I assume it was going to update to the new iOS 6. After extracting software, verifying with Apple, then preparing ihone for restore, iTunes hangs on "Waiting for iPhone". The phone appears to restart and displays the apple with the status bar underneath, but no progress.
I have tried this several times. Initially letting it hang for hours. I have restarted the phone and computer several times, changed the usb port, and now have tried it a few more times on a second computer. All with the same result.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    three5eric

    Ditto!
I too have the same problem. Any luck for you?
I tried everything possible so far but nothing happened.

  • IPhone 5 stuck at waiting for iphone during restore

  • My Iphone 3GS is stuck on 'waiting for iPhone' In restoration?

    Hello:)
My iPhone 3GS (32mb) turned itself off the other month and on it appeared an itunes icon with a USB plug underneath it, i cannot turn my phone off ect.
Ive plugged my iPhone into the latest iTunes patch and it had successfully restored when i clicked the restore button, although once this had finished it came back to the summary screen and the only button i could press was the restore button again, so i have and then it went through all the apple approving and other things. But now it is just saying on the laptop screen 'waiting for iPhone' and the actual iPhone has the apple logo on it and a long bar underneath that is empty. It was like this for half an hour, no change or anything, so i unplugged the iPhone and pressed the lock and home buton ( to turn it off ) and then redid the iTunes procedure, it went straight to the apple verfication thingy then moved on to the 'waiting for iPhone' again and NOW its got the same stupid empty bar and apple logo please can someone help??? I tried contacting chat online on apple and it said i had to dial a number, but asking the community for free is much more useful than a crackly phone call that'll probably cost me a fiver hahaha thanks guys!
    ps; No error reports

Did you ever got this resolve?  I have your same problem phone type and all.

  • My iphone 5 is stuck on ''waiting for iphone' when I try to restore

tthe restoring of my iphone is successful until I get a notification telling me that it had failed (4005). Has anybody got any solutions? I have tried a different USB, USB port and restarting my computer.. Itunes is also up to date.

    Hello Leannaker,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
I see from your post that you are receiving error 4005 when trying to restore your iPhone in iTunes.  Since you have already tried using another USB cable, restarted the computer, and updated the software, the other option remaining before needing to contact Apple for support is to restore the device on another computer.
Install the latest version of iTunes.
    Restart your computer.
Make sure your computer is up to date. If an update requires a restart, check for updates again after you restart.
Learn more about updating OS X.
    Learn more about updating Windows.
    Restore using another USB cable.
Restore your device on another computer.
If you continue to see error 4005, 4013, or 4014 when you restore your device, contact Apple for support.

  • IPhone 5 stuck in "waiting for phone"mode

IPhone 5 - had to do system restore - now it has shut down again and will only come up when hooked to computer -- go through system restore again and it gets stuck in "waiting for iphone" mode. Apple insignia and blank status bar showing on phone screen

Oh no, having phone issues is no fun Normal12 but we can help get this resolved. Is the phone damaged? Is the charging port loose or damaged? Let's try a few steps, first try pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. If the screen does not wake up try this next. Try and reset the device by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until either the Apple logo or the battery symbol appears. If that doesn't work, try this. Connect iPhone via AC power and reset the device again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the home button again at the same time for at least ten seconds, until either the Apple logo or the battery symbol appears. If that does not resolve issue, leave the device connected and let it charge for at least 15 minutes. If you continue to have issues, I recommend taking the phone to a Verizon Wireless corporate store or Apple store for evaluation and replacement options. Please keep us posted.

That does happen.  It depends on how hard the server is being hit, as well as the connection speed of your system.  If you are on a windows system, you will want to disable any antivirus or firewall software during the download.

  • HT1535 ting stuck on "Waiting for changes to be applied" does i keep trying to sync my iphone 4s but it wont finish the sync it keeps getting stuck on anyone know why ?

i keep trying to sync my iphone 4s but it wont finish the sync it keeps getting stuck on "Waiting for changes to be Applied" has anyone had a similar problem? and what should i do ?

I know that most of these posts were put up a little while ago
    But.
I too had a similar problem and an "error" message (waiting for changes to be applied)
    - my thoughts were:
Something to do with update to IOS 7.4
    Corruption
    Itunes software issue
After a LOT of research, I found a simple step that solved this issue for me.
I had been running my sync (pre - IOS 7.4) as automatic - see the options section under the summary tab
This can be viewed when you click on your device - right up the top you'll see tabs
    SUMMARY / INFO / APPS / TONES / MUSIC / MOVIES / TV SHOWS / BOOKS / PHOTOS etc.
I changed my selection to manually manage music and videos and tried another sync
    Wha La!
It began to copy over 700 songs that had not properly synced to my Ipad 2
BONUS: it then started to sync my videos again.
    Hope this helps somebody.
It certainly made my life less frustrating
Downside: I have to MANUALLY manage - but it's better than all the hassles
NB: I don't know why this error occurs and I'm not sure this fix will work for everyone's issues but it can't hurt.
