HT4061 when i try and activate facetime it says "Unable to verify email because it is alrady in use".The email is obviously in use i do not get it

when i try and activate facetime it says "Unable to verify email because it is already in us. It obviously is in use as it is my email address do not get it

Try signing out of FaceTime and turn it off in the settings. Restart the iPad, go back into FacetIme and turn it on again and then see if it will accept the email address.
Settings>FaceTime>Apple ID, tap the ID and tap sign out. Turn off FaceTime. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Log back to Settings>FaceTime>On and try to sign in again.
