    Hi.
    My ipdad crashed 3 days ago. I have been everwhere on the internet. Tried all possible suggested solution by Apple and other users (including:  updating itunes, updating windows, reconfiguring firewalls, creating different account, logging as administrator......etc etc). Nothing worked for me. Is there any site (outside Apples site where we can download the update software and run it manually). Apple does NOT seem to have figured out the solution to this problem yet.

    Well. After few days of trying everything. I simply took my ipad to work and used my work PC (iTune) to restore. Before that I ran the diagnostic tests in iTunes, and it came with the same problems my home PC had. Still, I tried to restore and 10 minutes later everything was back to normal.
    My Advice if you have this problem: try to update or restore from a different computer with a different internet network access.

    My wife has an iPad 2. She recently tried to update the OS via wireless internet.  The system became totally unresponsive.  I finally got the apple logo to come up on the screen, but nothing else.  I went online and found out that I could possible restore the system to the original factory settings.  I held down the home button and plugged in the USB cable which was connected to my iMac.  I went through the restore download to restore the system to factory setting. After the download was complete I ge the following error iPad Software download is corrupt. Disconnect and try again.  I did this 6 times with the same result each time.  I ensured the iMac was running the latest version of iTunes.  I really need some help with this.....can anyone help me please!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    I have seen previous versions mentioned in a pop up message before on iCloud.com, but I'm not really sure at all how it would help, as I couldn't get it to do anything.
    The best advice I have at this time is to back up your work on your iOS device by regularly saving it to iTunes, if anything goes wrong you can then either load it into the numbers app again on the device or recover it via iTunes on your computer.
    My syncs are immediate, I never get chance to see if it works in the background, sorry.

    Help! Everytime I try to update my iPad 2 on 4.3.3 it get is error message "The iPad "iPad" cannot be restored at this time because the iPad software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable." I dont know why please help.

    If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect to your computer & click on the "Update your device using iTunes".
    Tip - You may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. After you update to iOS 5.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • HT4097 i have tried to restore ipad and continously it gives an error code of 1604. i have also set ipad in recovery mode multiple times and everytime the restore shows an error code of 1604. How do I resolve this?

    I was trying to update the iOS to version 6. The iPad was backed up and when trying to update the iOS 6 it errored with -1 error code. I set the iPad in recovery mode and tried to Restore it. It then gave an error code of 1604. I have tried the steps mentioned in the troubleshooting article for 1604 error and so far no luck restoring my iPad. Please help.

    Error 1604
    This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
    If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
    Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
    Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
    Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
    The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
    If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

    i cant restore and update my ipad 2 to ios 6 it says error (3194) help please

    Check your HOSTS file and make sure you are not blocking gs.apple.com.
    Try to launch https://gs.apple.com: It should open the Apple site, and not be redirected to the Cydia server.
    if this redirected to cydia server then
    copy hosts file from this path
    C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
    paste on desktop. open this in notepad.
    add this line in the last .
    #74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
    in some case this line is there without " #" sign. if this line is there then u simply put" # " at the start of this line
    save this and copy this file and past into this path.
    C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\
    replace with existing . yes.
    close and then start the restore process.
    now this will work. Insha Allah.

  • HT4097 ipad cannot be restored error 3194

    My daughter's ipad has been disabled because she cannot remember her password. When I go to restore it while in recovery mode, it gives me an error saying that it cannot be restored. What do i do now?

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school enviroment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
