HT4098 Received strange e-mail from Apple but why?

I was sent an e-mail about subscriptions by Apple. The e-mail from Apple contained a link to this page. I read it and tried to find more info in iTunes but I don't have the Subscriptions entry in Settings. What the eff is up here?
Matter of fact yesterday I ordered a subscription for a weekly magazine which is available in the App Store (Der Spiegel from Germany) but the ordering process happens outside of any Apple gear. I actually used my Windows computer's web browser and the magazine's web site to order the subscription. Could this be causing the e-mail I received?

Thanks for the links but none of these information does really fit to this mails:

  • I won't receive an e-mail from Apple about changing my security questions

Okay, so I wanted to buy something on iTunes, but then this thing came up, saying since it was my first time buying something on this device, I had to answer my security questions. The thing is, I don't remember them! I made them over 2 years ago, and never had to use them until now. So I signed in onto my account, and pressed "Forgot your answers? Send reset security info email to r•••••@yahoo.com" I'm not sure if the r*****@yahoo.com appears for everyone, or if it's "my" e-mail account, but just showing the first letter. Thing is, I don't remember making en e-amil account starting with r. My Apple ID is my e-mail account. The one I had when I got my first Apple device. I've always used it for Apple stuff, so why won't I receive an e-mail from Apple about this? I received one when I put my phone number in my payment options just yesterday, and when I changed my password as well, so I don't get why I don't get the imformation about changing my security questions. I really want new songs

You need to contact Apple to get the questions reset. Click here, phone them, and ask for the Account Security team, or fill out and submit this form.

  • I received an e-mail from apple store asking for billing information update. Is this legitimate

I received an e-mail from apple store telling mr that my account billing information is out of date. Is this legitimate

If it has a link than most likely no. For example
It has come to our attention that your billing information is out of date. To fix this, refer to the link below
That is most likely a scam and you should not click on it. It would help if you provided a copy of the email, just to be sure.

  • Received unauthorized e-mail from Apple

I received an e-mail purportedly from Apple today with this text:
    Dear Customer,
Your Apple ID was used to purchase Tribal War App on a computer or device that had not previously been associated with this Apple ID. .
The download was initiated from AR , United States.
If you initiated this download, you can disregard this email. It was only sent to alert you in case you did not initiate the download yourself.
If you did not make this purchase, we recommend that you go to https://itunes.apple.com/ref-082736 to cancel the transaction, Confirm that you're the owner of the account and then follow the instructions.
    Regards,
    Apple
The link opens a window asking for all my info - Apple ID, password, address, credit card info. Obviously this is a scam, but it looks legit until you start thinking about what it's asking for.
I'm guessing this is just spam, and without my entering any info, the sender doesn't have access to my account. But is there a way to be sure my account is still safe?

It is a phishing attempt. Do not respond. Do not divulge any personal or financial information. You can use the address below to forward the suspect email message to Apple.

  • I received a mail from Apple but my status doesn't change

I ordered my ipod touch on sept 17, my status is processing items but with delivery date 26-30 oct.... But yesterday Apple send me a mail and it says this:

The new shipping date is to 3 business days. Please visit:http://store.apple.com/mx/orderstatus to review the latest information on the status of your order.

  • I think I have a virus or a bot.  Numerous people on my e-mail list received strange e-mails from me overnight.  How do I get rid of this virus or bot?  Any suggestions.

I think I have a virus or bot on my MacBook.  Random e-mails have been sent from my e-mail overnight.  I use comcast.net.  Any suggestions for removing the bot.

Let me guess, one or more of your friends has asked you why you're sending them solicitations for phony pharmaceuticals or shady software?
These emails did not originate from your MacBook. What happens is that one or more of your friends has a Windows computer with your email address stored in its Address Book (or whatever Windows calls it). Their computer gets infected with a program that examines email addresses stored on it and used yours as the "return address" on the spam it's spewing forth, to disguise the actual source.
At present, there are no such known programs that run on Macs. Therefore, there is nothing to remove on your MacBook. All you're guily of is sending an email to someone with a Windows computer, who is lacking the anti-malware utilities that are a practical requirement for Windows.
Summary: There's nothing you can do.
Lesson: Friends don't let friends run Windows.

  • Problems with my Apple id since 2 weeks: i received for 3 times a mail from Apple who said: you're password was reseted but i didn't asked for reset. So i have to re-change my password again. How can i be sure my account is not hackd

    hi everyone,
since 2 weeks: i received for 3 times a mail from Apple who said: "you're password was reseted..." but i didn't asked for reset. So i have to re-change my password again. How can i be sure my account is not hacked ?
    Best regards.

I'll add my problem to this list as it sounds similar. First a little background. This is a problem I think we will see from a lot of long term users, so here is my story. When .Mac was first made available I signed up and was given a new apple ID [email protected] At this point I already had an Apple ID that I was using for just music purposes (apps didnt't exist yet) but was told by apple I would have to give it up. They could not merge IDs and would not change them. The end result was getting a new Apple ID and having to redownload all my purchased music over P2P or burn it and  re-rip to remove the DRM. Fast forward a bit to a time when Gmail is getting bigger. I'm invited to try it out and I decide that I'm going to stop paying $100 for email, as I never really used he other features iDisk, photo sharing etc, and syncing contacts, calendars and mail was just as easy through gmail. Now years later we have iCloud. I have to sign in with my outdated .mac ID, at this point I have for too many apps/music/shows to drop that ID. When I sign in with that .mac Apple ID I get the automated iCloud message telling me my new email address is [email protected] However when I go to send email from my iCloud account it is using .mac as the sending address and the mail will not go through. I can't change it in the mail app or in settings. I'm kind of at a loss as to where to go next. I'm stuck with a defunct email address as a username that is more or less a key to thousands of dollars worth of content, and a new email address that won't function and nobody at Apple can press the right buttons to help clean it up. Some kind of system should be in place to change a user ID. Maybe once a year or once every other year. **** at this point I would even pay a one time fee just for my user name to be rid of that old .mac extension.

  • I wanted to reset my security question but i didn't receive any mail from apple! What do i do

I wanted to reset my security question but i didn't receive any mail from apple! What do i do plz help me

If the email's not in a spam filter, you need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, or clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed in either article, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • I received an email from apple, but in russian about iCloud any reason why?

I recently received an email from apple, but written in russian about iCloud login any reason why?  I've occassionaly received emails written in russian. No idea.

I was adding my osx mail to a new mac, and I logged into icloud in order to transfer contacts, etc.  The email appears legit, but in Russian.  Basically the email looks like a statement that i've logged on from a new device, but its written in cyrillic.  I just used google translate to understand it.  I deleted the message, and there was a link at the bottom, but obviously i didnt touch it.  Just strange and coincidental.  Not sure what to make of it.  It has happened before, but I always deleted them.
