The gopro transfer worked with my original iPad. Is it the lightening technology?

If you've gone through all that and it's the right kind of SD card, right naming convention etc. try giving your iPad a reset. Sometimes that port gets turned off (for lack of a better term) and a reset turns it back on. Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
If it still doesn't work, if you have access to another iPad try the reader on that. THere are some defective ones out there. If it works on another iPad then there's something going on with yours. If it doesn't work on another iPad then you may want to take that reader back and exchange it because it may be bad.

Are you using the same apple ID and password?
it seems all is in order, but perhaps the password isn't valid.
if the reset didn't work, try signing out of iTunes and App Store, then back in.
have you tried going to App Store - purchased and tapping on the cloud icon for the apps you want? You will still be asked for your password.

Why won't my iPad mini boot up?

Hi--
Bought my iPad mini last summer and it has worked fine.
But now it won't boot up. It just shows a white screen with the black apple logo. Every other couple of minutes, a sort of blue screen will go over the white screen like a blanket, and then it returns to the white screen.
Pushing buttons and swiping the screen produce nothing.
Thought I would try restoring it, but when I plug it into iTunes on my computer, iTunes won't show the device icon.
Don't know what operating system it has . . . . I can't "get" into it, and the box that it came in, with the tiny pamphlet, don't say!
It is 16G, I do know that . . . .

I have the SD card adapter to plug in and it when I insert it with the card used in my GoPro it tells me there are not any pictures to import. They are Jpeg. I can put the files into Photos on Iphoto but they will not go into my photostream either. Anyone else have this problem and can it be corrected?

Are the pics in a folder titled DCIM. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).

If you are still having problems with your iPad, it is still under AppleCare.
Bring it into an Apple Store to have it diagnosed and repaired under warranty.

A computer USB port does not provide enough power to charge and run the iPad at the same time but it will charge it if the iPad is turned off. It will take about four times as long to charge than with the iPad charger.
The Contacts icon may be inside a folder, such as Utilities.
There is no Facetime icon. Start a Facetime link from a contact.

At a guess (you don't list the error), what maybe happening is that you have booted from the original OS install disc, told it to install the (old) original OS on to the hard disk and it has said - no thanks you cannot install an older version because it already has a newer version installed.
This is 'normal', what you have to do is totally erase the hard disk first. You do this by booting from the original OS install disc, but rather than trying to do an install straight away, you should first use Disk Utility and use that to erase the hard disk. Then you can run the install again and because the hard disk will be empty it will not have a newer OS on it and the installer will be happy.
Obviously this means any files you have on the hard disk will be erase as well. If you want to keep them you are going to need to back them up first, the easiest way would be to use Time Machine to backup to an external hard disk.

Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.

If you have owned the device, as in purchased from Apple, less than a year then there will be no charge to repair, or most likely, replace the device. If you have had the device more than a year you will be charged an out of warranty cost for replacement ($219 I think) and that is much cheaper than a new device. If you have Applecare+ then you have an additional year of coverage and the replacement will be $49 or $79 depending on when you got the Applecare.
