HT4108 I get a message "this accessory is not supported by iPad" when I connect the adapter to my iPad 2
When I connect the 30 pin digital AV adapter to my iPad 2 I get the above error message. I tried reset/ power recycle etc. No joy!

You need to contact Sony and see if they model you have is compatible with the docking adapter. It may not be. -
Just bought latest digital AV adapter MD098ZM/A. Does not work with my iPad 2. Error messade" this accessory is not supported by iPad" while the package saying it supports iPad 2 and later.
It's works with the new iPad. It said "accessory not supported". I clicked OK and now it works.

If you are unsure whether your computer needs a particular update, simply download and open the update installer. The installer will alert you if the firmware update is already installed or not needed."
and instead of a message telling me of the proper update
"This software is not supported on your system."
So, why would the manual updater not tell me I already have the proper SMC and EFI updates?
What is the reason I get the message that the software I downloaded from Apple Support is not supported on my system?
Is this indicative of a larger problem with my MACBOOK PRO?[email protected],
why were you trying to reïnstall the Boot ROM and SMC versions that were already installed on your MacBook Pro?
I agree that a “not supported” message is certainly less clear than an “already installed” message would have been. -

Ipod is 80G Classic and displaying no other unusal or faulty behaviour. In the couple of days between the dock working fine and the error message appearing, there were no software updates. The ipod is actually a couple of years older than the dock- what's going on?
So the iPod worked previously on this particular dock? Does Altec's support website state that it supports your particular model iPod Classic?
Have you tried a hard reset of the device with it still connected to the dock? To do this, first make sure the hold switch is in the Off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
It wouldn't hurt to also check the dock connector on the iPod for any signs of debrisa and bent or corroded pins that could be blocking the connection between the dock and iPod.

my ipod touch will not play music thru the Bose sound dock and displays the message 'this accessory is not supported by iPod Touch' how can I fix it?
"This accessory is not supported" usually refers to an inability to charge the iPod, but the music should still play throguh the Bose dock. My iPod Touch works this way.
However, when the Bose refuses to make any sound, I unplug it from mains power for one minute. Then plug it back in and try again. This always sorts out the sound issue, but of course, it still will not charg the Touch.

This Accessory is Not Supported by iPhone
I have used a bedside iHome docking station for the last year with no problems. All of a sudden, I get the message "This Accessory is Not Supported by iPhone". It continues to charge just fine, but it disables the sound. After charging, I have to shut the phone off, and when I turn it back on, the sound works again. There has been no water damage on either the docking station or phone. I have cleaned both the connections with air and with a dry soft bristle toothbrush. Nothing has worked. I have iOS 6.0.1. Any suggestions?
Having "this accessory is Not Supported by iPhone" on many of my non-apple accessories. What's up with that??? Researched on a particular accessory and saw the below. Apple you have some bugs that need fixing. Interoperability and consumer choice is the best platform.

I have been dealing with this for weeks now. Contacted Logitech and they said it is an iOS 6.1 issue! Chatted with Apple iPhone support who recorded my call as a complaint/bug; recommended submitting feedback to Apple engineers; and so I wait for it to appear in iOS 6.1.3 or later. Hi All,
I've just purchased and apple vga adapter for my iphone 4, when I plug it in I get the message "This Accessory is Not Supported by iPhone" and im unable to transmit to an external display. Does anyone have any ideas? Really frustrated as I thought purchasing an Apple product that says its iPhone compatible would avoid issues like this!

SachaHi, I recently had the same problem with my docking station which has been working fine for 6 months + then suddenly the message and no sound from the speakers. I cleaned the docking connector on my iphone 4 with a small dry brush (and blew into it several times to dislodge all dust particles). Did the same to connector on the docking station and it all works fine now. Seems the iphone docking connector is very sensitive and therefore needs to be kept clean - give it a try.

I have an Iphone 4s. I have had the same ipod dock for about six months and have had no trouble playing music through my iphone on this dock. I plugged it in the other day and I got the message "This accessory is not supported by Iphone". I thought it may have been the dock so I tried my sisters phone (Iphone 4s) and hers worked perfectly fine, suggesting that it is an issue with my phone, not the dock. I also tried my phone on my sisters dock (which has worked in the past) and the same message appears. The docks will still charge my phone, just not play music. If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated.

i have recently upgraded to 7.0.2 and can no longer charge my iphone 4 as i recieve the message this accessory may not be supported, any advice would be appreciated

I just bought an Apple Lighting to USB Camera Adapter. When I got home to and connected it to my Canon Rebel EOS Digital Camera. I received the error message "This device is not supported" I was wondering if there is any software or drivers I need to download?

DonI use Canon Cameras and have no problems downloading photos from the camera to the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter. My questions and suggestions might be basic but just to make sure:
1. This is an iPad forum area. Are you using the lightning to USB camera adapter with an iPad? Your info in your original post says iPod. I'm not sure that the adapter works with an iPod.
2. After you connect the adapter to your iPad and then use a USB cable to connect the adapter to the camera did you turn on the camera?
3. If you did turn on the camera and still did not get the import of photos to start try a reset your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. This will not cause any data loss. -
