HT4113 I never set up a passcode for the ipod touch but now it's asking for one?

I have an Ipod Touch. Mostly my son uses it for games.  We've never put a password on it but today we cannot access it - it's asking for a password.  what the heck do I do?

Connect the iPod to its syncing computer and restore via iTunes. You may have to place the iPod in Recovery mode to allow the restore.

    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • I forgot the restrictions passcode on the ipod touch

    Hi
We forgot the restrictions passcode on the ipod touch. How can we reset it?
    Thanks

    Forgotten RESTRICTIONS Passcode
    - Restore from a backup that was make before you added the Restrictions passcode. If you restore from a backup made with the Restrictions passcode the Restrictions passcode is also restored. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - If you are up to file manipulation see the following but it may not work for iOS 6.1.3:

  • HT201210 my 8 yr old daughter put a passcode on her ipod touch and now she cannot remember it

My 8 yr old daughter put a passcode on her ipod touch. she hadn't used it in about a month
and now she cannot remember what her code is.  She made several attempts yesterday and
disabled it, i got it back to the point where we can try again still not sure what it is.

Forum Tip for Godlaw: It is generally considered inappropriate to type all in uppercase letters in Internet discussions, as text that is typed all in uppercase is by convention considered to be shouting.  Uppercase is also more difficult to read, so please use all uppercase sparingly and only when you really mean to shout, which we hope you won’t need to do here .

  • ITunes wants me to set up the iPod Touch - but I already have

My daughter has a 4th gen iPod touch. When she got it about 6 months ago, I set it up by connecting to my MacBook Pro. Today I wanted to back it up, which we have never done before.  When I connect it to iTunes, the only options I get are to set it up from new or restore it from a backup. I don't have a backup obviously, and if I set it up as new, she will lose all the messages from her friends and the home movies she has made.
Why don't I get the usual options to sync the iPod touch and back it up?

    Does the iPod work OK?

  • I helped my grandson update the OS on his ipod touch but now none of his apps are on the device.  We used their computer but he had only previously downloaded purchases directly to his ipod and never synced it. HELP

My Grandson has a latest generation touch.  Up to this time the only way he downloaded apps was directly to the device via wifi.  We just recently installed itunes on their home computer and wanted to be able to sync purchases.  When we plugged the ipod in to the computer it prompted us to install the new OS which we did but now his apps are not on the ipod.  They do not show up in the itunes library either?  They have an Apple ID and the account (and gift card balance) shows on both the ipod and computer.  How do I get his apps back and then how do I sync things between teh two??????????

  • Setting Up Custom Email on the iPod Touch

Since the iPod touch does not allow you to use emails other than the ones provided (Gmail, dotMac, Yahoo, Exchange) — it's really a frustrating thing how you can receive emails but not send them unless it's one those types of email accounts. Thankfully, I've figured out a simple workaround by using Gmail to auto-forward the mail from your other accounts. That way you can send outgoing mail from the iPod touch perfectly. The reason outgoing mail didn't work before with your custom email accounts was that they needed the use of your ISP (Internet Service Provider) for the outgoing messages.
Here's the link if anyone wants to see it:

    Hello,
Yeah this is definitely a missing feature rather than a glitch. These mobile applications are a lot simpler than their OS X counterparts. Please leave feedback for Apple:

  • HT4113 what do you do if you forgot your passcode and the IPOD touch locks you out.

Someone changed my daughters passcode and now she can't get on her ipod touch.

See this discussion  ipod passcode disabled?   from the More Like This  Section on the right.

  • HT1766 My mom changed my passcode on the ipod touch 8gb, i have severally tried to unlock it with different codes but it didn't worked and it got disabled using my ipod touch 8gb, however i have restored my ipod touch 8gb fully, and i still get passcode s

pleaseee help me out it's soo frenetic and i love my ipod to bits, i need to start using it again coz it has my lecture notes on it from University LOL i know sounds weird but i need it asap thx , softaware version is actually 4. 3.5

You'll need to connect it to the iTunes library you normally sync it with and restore it.  If iTunes asks you for this passcode before it will let you proceed, connect the iPod to iTunes in recovery mode instead using the instructions in this Apple support document.

  • HT4479 how do you reset the passcode on the ipod touch

my daughter doesn't remember her ipod touch passcode. Anyone know how to unlock it or change it?

No. It cannot be changed. You have to restore it in Recovery Mode, and all data will be lost if not backed up. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

  • We have down loaded latest software for the ipod touch and now can't open up any Apps previously held on the Ipod touch. please advise how we can restore this without losing all the apps??

You can transfer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
You can transfer other stuff by using the third-part programs discussed in this previous discussion:
    Best iPod to PC
If you previously synced to another computer and do not have the backup files you will lose your app data.  You will have to restore to factory defaults/new iPod and then sync to the new computer.

I have never set up a passcode on my iphone 4S but when I try to reset my phone it is asking for a 4 digit passcode.  Is there a generic code? Or how do I retrieve an existing/forgotten passcode?

You will need to put your phone in recovery mode and then restore using iTunes.

  • HT1414 Ok so my ipod is disabled for 21,456,066 minutes and i tried to go on itunes to umlick it but it said "Itunes could not connect to the ipod because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the ipod before it can be used with it

    Please help!

Either wait until Wednesday, February 12, 2053, or restore the iPod:
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release only the Sleep/Wake button.
Continue pressing and holding the Home button while you reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.Note: If you see the "low battery" screen, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears (iTunes icon and USB connector) release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the "recovery mode" alert ("iTunes has detected a phone in recovery mode").
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you do not see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
Select the iPod in iTunes and choose "restore from backup".
