How long should the 10.7 SMC Firmware update take? I got the progress bar for the download and then the screen went black and the light pulsed as if my MacBook Pro were asleep. I waited fifteen minutes and nothing - no fan or other activity. I pressed the power button in a variety of ways (hold for thirty seconds and release - press once briefly - did this a dozen or so times) and now the light is on and the fan is running. It's been another nine minutes.
Should I just be patient or is there a problem?

The update is about 900 MB, and the download time is purely a function of your Internet connection speed. On my FiOS connection it takes about 5 minutes.

It shouldn't take that amount of time. What is the screen showing? Is the progress bar frozen? The only solution would be to restart your Mac, but it's better to first check what your screen is showing

Wow.......You plug the 30 pin connector to the botton of your iPad and the USB to the USB port on your computer.
But first, you can download the movie and books to your iTunes account without having your iPad connected. After you've downloaded the material, then you connect your iPad and sync it all over.
I'm sorry I have to sign off. I have to be up like 6 hours. I'll check in tomorrow and see if you made any progress.
If nothing else, this will get your iPad and your iTunes account speaking again. They should be regularly connected and your iPad routinely backed up.
One more thing. If it's been a while since you even opened iTunes on your PC, make sure you check for iTunes downloads and update iTunes with the latest version.

I started the Apple TV software update at 8:00pm, hoping to watch a movie that night. After two hours, the update was still not complete - the status bar was stuck in the middle - so I left the update running and went to bed. The next morning, the update was finally complete, so it must have taken several hours. I have since installed an AirPort Extreme router - perhaps the next Apple TV software update will go faster! Updates on my iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro are complete within minutes and I expected the same with Apple TV. All in all, I really enjoy the Apple products and technology.

Windows PCs cannot directly read a Mac formatted HD (or iPod).
Macs can read and write to a Windows formatted HD if it is in FAT32. Macs with OS X10.3 and higher will read a Windows NTFS formatted HD, but no Macs can write to an NTFS HD. iPods only function when formatted in FAT32. iPods cannot function as a MP3 player if formatted in NTFS.

I went to use my iPod this afternoon and had a blank screen.
I initially thought the battery was dead, but after about an hour on charge, I still had no screen.
I connected to my itunes and got the message the my iPod had been corrupted.
I selected the restore to factory settings option.
The inital status bar went quick, but now it doesn't seem like anything is happening.

Fix: Press center buttun and menu button at the same time for about 30 seconds, or until the screen displays the apple icon. This would be a "soft reset". I did not have to complete the restore operation.
Before restoring to factory settings, try the soft reset first.

10.0.2 download is about 2 GB so unless you have a fast internet connection it may take a long time. The update should resume automatically when you restart

The App Store shows a progress bar whilst the update is downloading and when it is installed the update will show in the recent updates list.

My photoshop has been taking a very long time and I wanted to make sure that I was doing it correctly.

Is this resolved yet? What operating system are you using? The progress bar when installing uses the first half for the download, and second half for the installation, so if it gets half way and appears to go no further, there is a problem with the install. Best practice in this situation is to restart your computer, and run the Desktop Application Manager as Administrator. (Right click from Windows. I don't know about OSX) That usually leads to a successful install.
Note that if you have tried to install and it has all gone pear shaped further into the installation process, you probably need to use the Cleaner tool

Shouldn't take that long. If on Ethernet you may need to try wifi, interference may also cause issues

i started the update about an hour ago. the system restarted a couple of times, and i got the progress bar a couple of times, then it went off and it hasn't come back on sense? what's going on???
