HT4137 How long does it take to transfer purchases?  I do not have that many.

I am transferring purchases in iTunes and the process has now been over an hour.  I have 11.9 GB free on my phone, so there is not that much.  Please advise if I should stop and re start or continue to wait?

Sounds like you should just cancel it. close iTunes, restart the computer and phone and try again

Using Migration Assistant and I am transferring data from PC to IMac. Have no idea how ling this process should take. How long does it take to transfer data from a PC to a Mac?

This may not be the best forum to get an answer.
Depending on what is being/can be migrated it may be dependent on how much data is on the PC already.

  • How long does it take to transfer computers

if i purchase a new macbook, how long does it take to transfer everything off my old mac?

Using Migration Asisstant over WiFi (described below), it took me about 2 hours to migrate my 60GB from old to new Mac.
You could speed this up using Ethernet if you choose.

  • How Long does it take to download Mountain Lion?  Anybody have a good guess?

How long does it take to download Mountain Lion?  I know there are variables regarding DSL but should it take an hour?  two hours.  Ball Park please?!

Wish I had your DSL speed.  iTunes suggests I have about 7 1/2 hours still to go!  Just glad it is giving it it's best shot.
    Thanks for your reply.

  • How long does it take for a purchase bought on a credit card to show up...

I bought a music video on a gift card credit card I got for Xmas. I bought the video a few days ago, and it still hasn't show up on my iTunes. I also bought a song using a different card at the beginning of the week, and that hasn't arrived either. Exactly how long will it take for me to get my items, or since the card was authorized, should I try to repurchase them?

This depends on how your account is set-up. If you are set-up for "1 click" purchasing, then the minute you click "buy", your purchase should download. If you are set up to use your shopping cart or a wish list, you have to go into your shopping cart, select the item you wish to purchase, click buy, then the download starts. If you are using the balance on a gift card, check the upper right corner of the main store window, where your account icon is, should be the balance remaining on the giftcard. If the balance has not changed, then you have never actually purchased the item.
Now, if you're sure you purchased the item, in iTunes, try store>check for purchases to see if you can get the download to re-start.

  • How long does it take to transfer data from a time  machine back up?

I am in the process of transferring my data from my time machine back up from my old mac to my new mac and this seems to be taking a long time.  What is everyone's experience for how long this takes?

That does seem a tad excessive. What connection are you using? Ideal is firewire; Airport would be slowest (quite possibly as long as you say).

  • How long does it take to transfer files from Windows to Macbook Pro

    Hi guys
I just got a macbook pro (not the one with retina display)
I have all of my files on my windows and just started to set up my mac using the windows transfer program, but it is taking a really long time. The estimate time remaining jumps between 30-35 hours. This is over Wi-Fi. I have read that it is faster using an Ethernet cable, I think I have one that is pluged into connecting both computers, but it isn't speeding anything up.
What should I do? I don't want to leave either computer on for such a long time. (is there anything I should put my Mac on so it doesn't overheat, its currently on a wood table).
Should I stop it? I dont want to ruin anything on the computer so soon. If so, how do I do it. I had already started to transfer files earlier today but accidently closed the Mac, which stopped the process and couldn't restart it again, so I turned it off since I couldn't find anything on the screen to stop it.
I have an external harddrive that was connected to my windows, would it be faster to hold the mac's power button, start the startup again and just connect the external harddrive?
    Please help. Thanks in advance.

Wi-Fi is slowest. Wi-fi must fight interference and other environmental challenges that cables don't have to worry about at all.
Cabled Ethernet would be much faster. If your Windows computer has Gigabit Ethernet, it could actually be faster than FireWire.

I would only abort if there is a safe way to (like a visible Cancel button), otherwise you may lose data.
Connecting the external hard drive to the Mac could work, but if the hard drive is formatted with the NTFS disk format, you must have extra software on your MacBook Pro that can read that. If the drive is formatted as FAT32, it should work since Macs can read (but not write to) that Windows disk format.

iCloud requires iOS 5 or later.
The iPhone 3G can only update as far as iOS 4.2.1

How long does it take to download and install maverick, not got high speed connection

It always depends on your network.
Can always go to http://www.speedtest.net and it will let you know your download speed and can do the math.
It will take about 2 hours on a good network though.

  • How long does it take to charge the new iPhone 6

How long does it take to charge the new iPhone 6?

That depends on the level of charge...if it is fully discharged it could take two-three hours.  If only partially discharged, an hour.  But that is only guessing as it depends heavily on the charge level when you start charging.

  • IPhone Restore: How long does it take?

My iPhone needs to be restored. How long does it take to restore and then restore the iPhone from the backup?

Hard to say, it depends on your iphone model, the data to back up and the number of apps installed adding their part of data to the backup.
If you copy all the pictures from the camera roll before and delete the original files, it should be under one hour, close to 30min using a 3G. Also transfer your videos before you start.
See what else is part of the backup: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766

  • "How long does it take to do a dist-upgrade on your distro?"

Yesterday there was a question in the USALUG.org "How long does it take to do a dist-upgrade on your distro?"
This question was a good question, so I decide to make the ultimate test. I have a lot of computers standing here around, and remembered that on one of them was have already Archlinux installation. I was right, when I booted, the system check said me, that the system was 253 days not checked anymore. I got so excited that I forgot to check was it one of my 0.7.2 Gimmick or 0.8 Voodoo installations.

After reboot the system loads all new applications with out any problem. Later I replaced the intel-video driver "xf86-video-i810 1.7.4-6" with the driver xf86-video-intel 2.2.0-2. No problems at all.

definitely. By contrast, here's a regular upgrade on my debian box -- out of the blue it's having some problem with one of the packages, and it's turning into a regular recursive nightmare.

You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these.

It's so "delicate" and temperamental compared to the no-nonsense, straightforward approach of Arch. If one little thing is off, the entire system has a hissy-fit and won't do anything until you hunt the internet high and low searching for a solution, encountering all the debian hawks along the way who are ready to rip your head off at the first suggestion that debian isn't directly from god and could have a problem. Imo, Arch is the best linx distro hands down. Nothing else even comes close.
