HT4137 session cannot be started with iphone

I'm running the latest itunes on a Windows 8 PC.  When I connect my iphone 5, I receive a message stating that a session cannot be started with the iphone.  I cannot back-up my device, as I get the same error message.  I tried backing up to icloud using wi-fi, but receie a message that the backup cannot be completed. Can anyone help?  

I found the answer...
Launch iTunes with your iPad connected to your Mac. Make sure the iPad is listed under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window.
From your iTunes menu bar click iTunes / Preferences then select the Devices tab.
If there is more then one backup available, delete all but one.
Restart your iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
Re-sync.

    Restart your computer
    While your computer is restarting, clear all of the applications from the background on your iPhone. You can do this by pushing the home button twice and swiping the programs off the screen by pushing them upwards.
    After you are done doing that, restart your phone.
    Wait about 10 seconds or so and turn your phone back on. By the time you get your phone back on your computer should be completly restarted and ready to go.
    When your phone is back on, plug it into your computer. This should automatically bring up your Itunes, you may get another pop up that says autoplay, you can close that out. That's it. I hope it helps and good luck

    On you iPhone, force close all the Apps in the multitask window.
    Follow these steps to force an app to close:
    From the Home screen, click the Home button twice. 
    Tap and hold on the app. 
    When it starts to jiggle, tap the to close it one by one until all cleared
    Now do a Soft reset of your iPhone:
    Hold both Home and Sleep button for around 10secs until you see the Apple logo then release. After it returns to Home screen, connect to sync and see if this resolves the issue.

    Error 1 or -1
    This may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues, and restore your device on a different known-good computer. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
    The" may need service' meand there is a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

    Newly installed Windows 2012 R2 server throws the following event roughly every 3 minutes:

    The PID referenced in the event points to WmiPrvSE.exe running as NETWORK SERVICE.  Is there something obvious I'm missing because I'm not sure where to go with the information I found so far.  I already did my fair sharing of Binggling and everything
    I find doesn't apply or doesn't fix the problem.

    I have a Windows 8.1 Pro version. In the event viewer I can see that the error `Session "" failed to start with the following error: 0xC000000D´ is registered every time I boot my laptop.
    I am 100% sure that this is related to the IP Helper Service (iphlpsvc) because the error is logged every time I manually restart the service.

    Hi,
    IP Helper (service name 'iphlpsvc') is apparently designed to improve a Windows PC's support for IPv6 network protocol.
    I suggest you try enable  the dump collection by copying following words into notepad, saving it as dump.reg and importing it:

    Can you let us know if you get any Blue Screen crush error while using your comptuer?
    Generally we can safely ignore the errors in the Event log. Aas we don't if you have get other issues in your computer, you can test your computer in the Clean Boot mode. This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program or service.
    You can try the the following steps:
    1. Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.
    2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
    3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".
    Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK.
    Please test this issue in this Clean Boot environment, if the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, you can use the dichtomy to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue. You can refer to the
    KB929135.

    This is a very poor answer.  This guy doesn't know what he's talking about because if you tell someone its ok to  "safely ignore the errors in the event log"  as a blanket instruction ESPECIALLY because as he stated so himself
    he didn't know if there were other issues with the OP's pc then he's giving really bad advice. If you ignore errors in the event log then over time your system will degrade and you will have other issues.. Every error on your pc should NOT be ignored.
    It should be decided on a case by case situation.
    Furthermore this is an error involving the Windows Session which it states has failed. Definitely should NOT be ignored.
    I've got the same error which has suddenly just showed up. No BSOD, Do not have WHS installed and all my media center connectors have NEVER been connected. I don't believe this is a service issue. I think it has something
    to do with kernel event tracing.
    Of course, it's just my opinion....I could be wrong!

  • Running PC with W7 x64. Upgrdaed to iTunes 10.7. Upgraded iPhone 4s to IOS 6. Caqnnot backup. iTunes says session cannot be started. Does not recognize apps on device. Device shoes up on WiFi then disappears. Does not work either on USB. ITouch and iPad .

    After upgeading to iTunes 10.7 on my PC with W7 x64 and IOS 6 on my iPhone 4s, I cannot backup. It says sesson cannot be started. Also cannot recognize apps on iPhone. Further, with WiFi and powered on, the device apperas briefly in iTunes then disappears. Same for iTouch and iPad with IOS 5. How do I resove this? More importantly, how does Apple resolve it?   • When I start my computer I get a "AppleSyncNotifier.exe Entry Point Not Found message.  I also get an error message when trying to sync with iTunes that a backup session cannot be started.  How do I fix this?

    With Windows Explorer, navigate to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support folder.
    Copy the SQLite3.dll that you should find there, navigate to the nearby Mobile Device Support folder, and Paste it in there also.
    Reboot and see if all is well
    In case that your OS is Windows 7 (64 bit)
    1. Open windows explorer, go to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    2. Copy file "SQLite3.dll"
    3. Open new windows explorer, to to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
    4. Paste file "SQLite3.dll" to the location.
    5. Reboot your computer, it should not display that message, it should be clear.

  • ITunes cannot sync apps. with iPhone

    Hi everyone!
    I bought a new laptop lately, and I wanted to sync all the applications on the iphone with itunes, but it keeps saying, "please authorize your computer" - which I already did. Then all my apps disappeared from the phone, so I downloaded everything to iTunes again, and tried to sync, but it seems that the apps cannot be synced with the phone. I tried to download every program to the phone again, and then sync it again, but it still won't work. I reinstalled iTunes and visited the support page and tried everything regarding the authorization and deauthorization articles there (administration account, deleticn SC folder from program data etc), and it still does not work. I can see all the apps on the computer, but when I want to sync, it simply won't copy anything to the phone. So I have to download every program from app. store via my phone, and it works perfectly, until I connect the phone with the computer. I searched for an apple email address, but I cannot find anything (I live in Hungary, Europe, and I just realized that the apple support is really poor here).
    Can somebody please help or just give me an official apple email address to write my problem to them as well?

    I bought several apps, like 6 or 7, and the sync would error out, but the backups would be okay.
    I guess I was trying to sync too many new applications at once. I ended up having to download my purchases via iTunes on my computer, then go to Apps on my iPhone in iTunes, and check one at a time, syncing after each, until all apps were installed.
    If I tried to do anymore than one at a time, I would get iPhone not connected or trouble reading disk errors while syncing.
