The express wired to the extreme should be in bridge and setup to create a wireless network.. your best bet is to follow the roaming instructions.

Then the second one can be in extend wireless if you cannot wire it.. it can extend from either the extreme or the express..

How can I set up a guest access point with a Time Capsule and an Airport Extreme? I am using a Telus router with the Time Capsule used as a wireless access point (bridge mode). I don't want the guest access point to have access to my network.
The Guest Network function of the Time Capsule and AirPort Extreme cannot be enabled when the device is in Bridge Mode. Unfortunately, with another router...the Telus...upstream on your network, Bridge Mode is indicated as the correct setting for all other routers on the network.
If you can replace the Telus gateway with a simple modem (that performs no routing functions), you should be able to configure either the Time Capsule or the AirPort Extreme....whichever is connected to the modem....to provide a Guest Network. -
May iMac (OS 10.7.4) has suddenly stopped printing to my Epson CX4800 printer through Airport Extreme, though my MacBook (OS 10.5.8) continues to function just fine). The iMac will print if it is connected to the printer directly via USB. The iMac continues to connect to the Internet wirelessly. I've tried resetting the printer and ensuring the driver is up to date, but no joy.

Hi All. I live outside of the USA and have an iPhone 4s. I'm going to Fort Lauderdale, FLA and want to data service for my iPhone ( navigation using google or imaps, browsing and voip ing when no wi fi available). I browsed the net but seems almost impossible. When I visited Toronto I was able to get data thru Koodo but I don't think this is offered in the USA. Anyone who has real experience with this please help. This is a situation that is best aided by persons who have experienced it. Thanks

I updated my iPad mini to ios 7.0.2 couple days ago. Everything was fine until yesterday. I noticed that it seemed to have a mind of its own. It kept opening and closing app. I'm not sure what to don to fix this problem. I've tried restoring my iPad mini but that didn't help. Can someone please help me?

Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
Release the Buttons...
If no joy...
Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.
If the issue persists...
Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and Restore

Hi I am wondering if anyone can help me out I currently own a Airport Exterme Base Station Model Number A1034 older version. My problem is with xbox live. I have always been able to connect wirelessly with my xbox 360 with no problems. I know in order to play Xbox live you have to have an OPEN NAT setting. Which im pretty sure I've always had because I would never get any problems. I have no idea what NAT means and I am not tech savy what so ever.
Recently I decided I wanted to create a new network and delete my old one. I did so and everything was fine with the internet but my problem lies with my xbox live now. For some reason it's saying that I now have a Moderate NAT and I will experience difficulties when on xbox live. I am wondering is there a way to OPEN NAT? I tried looking for it in airport ulitlity and I found it but like I said im not tech savy. Under the NAT settings there are two options ENABLE DEFAULT HOST AT & ENABLE NAT PORT MAPPING PROTOCOL. I have no idea what that means I though it would just let you choose between Strict, Moderate, Or Open NAT but unfortunately it doesn't. So can anyone help me I will give points. After a certain number of unsuccessful tries (maybe 10?) you'll be locked out. You'll have to restore the iPad. Since it sounds like you havent really used it, this shouldn't be a problem. Do you know how to do this?

Not sure if this means I created a separate iCloud account. Please help.
When I first upgraded my iPad to iOS5 I turned on icloud but little else. I assume this means that the iCloud account was created under the primary Apple ID. My wife received a new iPad 2 for your b'day and I set her up with my primary Apple ID for purchases but with her own iCloud id. My research indicates that for our needs - one Apple ID for purchases and separate iCloud IDs would be the way to go. Yesterday I attempted to turn on syncing for Notes and it was indicated on my iPad that I needed an @me e-mail to do this and so I requested one and got it. When I did so I was never asked to setup a password nor had I been asked the questions I was asked when setting up my wife's. So now - did I create a separate iCloud account when obtaining the @me address or do I have to do something else? I'd like to attach my syncing to a separate iCloud account as well rather than the master Apple account (thinking this is what I should do).

My airport extreme (generation 5) was set up using wifi and has worked flawlessly (on macbook pro 2 iphones and window 7 HP pc)until recently. I have reset to factory defaults over and over but still cannot get on the internet. However I can then take my DSL cord and insert it in a different Ethernet port other than the WAN port and I can get internet on my Mac and iphones but only wifi on my husband's PC. I hate to spend another $179 if this is just something I'm doing wrong. Please help
I'm having a bit of trouble confirming that the ZyXEL is a combination modem & wireless-N router. If it is, then you really won't get any advantages of using the 802.11g AirPort.
If the range of your ZyXEL is limited, you may find that doing either or both of the following will help: 1) Move the ZyXEL so that it is higher vs. lower in the room, that is away from any closed areas or placed in a metal cabinet, and 2) Changing radio channels. The latter is especially important in you live in an area where there are a number of competing Wi-Fi.
A good utility to find out, is iStumbler. You would use this to find these other Wi-Fi and find which have the strongest signal value. Those that do, you would also want to note which channel they are operating on, and then, change yours to one that is at least 3-5 channels away. So, for example, if you find strong ones on channels 1 & 6, change yours to 11. -
I have a new HP Officejet 6500A plus. I cannot get it to connect to my Airport Extreme V5.6. It see the wifi signal but Fails on "Filtering" and possibly the channel. Does anyone know how to reset or reconfigure filtering and channel on the old airports?
This is a part of the larger MacBook Pro connectivity issue. There are several related threads dealing with the MBP's networking problems. If your unit is suffering from this type of difficulty, good luck ... (or a long ethernet cable)

I have an 2tb time capsule 802.11n Wi-Fi base station can I use this as an external hard drive and use a new airport extreme 802.11ac Wi-Fi for my wifi?
You can use the 2 TB Time Capsule as a network drive. That means that it must connect to one of the Ethernet LAN <--> ports on the new AirPort Extreme, or connect to the network using wireless.

i guess you could put the aiport utility app on your iphone, click on the aiport express there, it will show you how many devices are connected to it and the mac addresses of those devices.
