HT4157 I'm trying to add this iPad to an existing AT&T account. I try to type in pass code, then go to the SSN & it deletes the pass code I just typed. What am I doing wrong

I need help adding this iPad to a already existing AT&T account.
I go to type in my pass code for AT&T then my SSN & it then deletes my pass code ... Won't let me add it

I have the same issue. 
For those that that have responded to your question and don't know, you can now add your iPad to your existing AT&T data plan if you have the shared family data plan.  It's cheaper since it's only $10/month to add the device to share your data plan vice paying somthing like $30/month for 3GB (or whatever level you need).
I was told by an AT&T employee that there are several ways to accomplish this.
1. Call AT&T
2. Do it online at ATT.com (I tried this but their website is down for maintenance)
3. Do it on the iPad (which is what you and I are trying to do).
I have no idea why after entering the passcode and then trying to enter the last 4 of your SSN that the passcode disappears.  Or conversely, if you enter the last 4 of your SSN, then go to the passcode field, that the SSN disappears.  So when you try to continue you get the please enter valid data message.  Seems like a bug in the system.

    No Apple response???  Redplum/Valassis will not help either.  I searched, using the cups error message and though it is Unbuntu, same error so maybe useful...only problem: details would not display unless I join Unbuntu forum.  What a pain to do anything with my Mac or find any help.  I honestly regret buying this buggy OS.

    As the old saying goes: when in doubt, consult the manual. The problem appears to be that I added the printer using the KDE Add Printer Wizard. It was automatically given a "socket" URI instead of an "lpd" one. When I:
    - altered the printer settings at http://localhost:631 (the CUPS admin page) as instructed in the manual for the printer, and
    - copied the PPD file into a second place on the hard drive (as instructed on ubunutuforums, see the link above)
    ..everything started working.
    It's still slower than windows, but I can live with that
    Probably a simple fix. Change the socket I.P. to match the printer I.P. like this:
    socket://192.168.1.86:9100. The thing I'm concerned with using socket:// is that AFAIK the printer I.P. must not change. In my case I'm able to assign a static I.P. address to the printer but it's something to consider.
    I found that the only thing I needed to do was change socket to lpd (and remove :9100 off the end as well). See Solving Ubuntu printer “broken pipe” problem (DocuPrint C525A) . BTW thanks for steering me in the right direction - very grateful.

    Are you having a problem with your printer under the latest versions of Ubuntu (perhaps it worked under an older version)? Are you able to print short documents, but not longer, or more graphics-intensive, documents? (e.g. the unfortunate people at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=625493). Do they sit there as Processing for ages and then switch to Held? If you have the same problem I had the solution I tried may work for you too. Firstly, check your cups error log:
    sudo gedit /var/log/cups/error_log
    If you see anything like the following, the solution may be simple:
    [Job 201] Unable to write print data: Broken pipe
    PID 13359 (/usr/lib/cups/backend/socket) stopped with status 1!
    System > Administration > Printing and right click on your printer, selecting Properties. Settings > Device URI
    If you see something like socket://your_printer_ip_address:9100 just change socket to lpd and remove the :9100 off the end. Then click on apply.
    Apparently lpd is a more modern protocol which works with most printers whereas socket is more raw (and potentially faster but riskier in a network situation). Somewhere along the line, the default Ubuntu/Gnome setup for networked printers shifted from lpd to socket. Some primitive printers will have benefited whereas a larger number of more modern printers will have suffered.
    Please correct me if I am wrong (which is highly possible) but the underlying problem could be that socket may make the printer wait a long time for a large file to be processed ready for printing. Some printers, such as the Fuji Xerox DocuPrint C525A, may drop the socket if things take too long to start coming through.
    Changing timeout settings might work but lpd is better than socket so it is the preferred solution in any case.
    If this works for you, please leave a comment to let others know (ideally with a description of the printer and Ubuntu version). Printer may be relevant if it doesn’t support the direct stream protocol properly. NB I may take a while to let your comment through because of the volume of spam. Sorry about that.

    You can add audio files that are in AAC, MP3, WAV, AIFF, Apple Lossless, or Audible.com (.aa) format. If you have unprotected WMA content, iTunes for Windows can convert these files to one of these formats.

    I am an amateur DJ trying to record a mix made in Cross DJ. I followed a tutorial instructing me to use Soundflower to route my system audio to QuickTime and have had no problem routing. Yet when I record the audio with QuickTime, the recording plays no audio. What am I doing wrong? I really need this mix recorded and I have no intention of downloading extra software.

    This is because you have Punch on the fly enabled under Options (top menu)>Audio>Punch on the Fly.... signified by the letter P instead of the letter R

    1. "Always Send Windows-Friendly Attachments" has nothing to do with the display of attachments on either your machine or other ones. It's an esoteric setting that strips the resource fork from Mac files (that might have them) which could apper as a duplicate file on the Windows machine.
    2. Send Plain Text emails. Then it will always be received as an attachment.

  • Created project in imovie. Trying to move to iDVD to burn. the project in imovies is great. When I view the project in iDVD the audio is messed up. What am I doing wrong?

    I created project in imovie 10. When I send it to idvd to burn copy the audio is not in right places. Some muted audio is not muted and other audio clips are with wrong video clips. I don't know what I am doing wrong. Help.

    I'm not sure what you mean by iMovie 10 (there is no such version). However, if you mean iMovie '09 (version 8) or iMovie '11 (version 9) there is a fix I can suggest.
    If you have used slow motion or fast motion in your video, you MUST use only the presets on the speed slider, which are: 12.5%, 25%, 50%, 100%, 200%, 400% and 800%.
    If you have used custom settings by manually entering speed percentages (different to the presets), you will almost certainly experience audio glitches in the exported movie. These glitches are not evident in preview (before sharing) but appear only in the exported movie (as you have experienced).
    The fix is to re-visit your project and adjust all speed changes to the preferred preset percentage. This can be a pain, as you may have to re-sync video and audio - but it is the only fix (unless you want to go through a very convoluted process). After adjusting the speeds to the presets, you will of course have to re-export the project.
    Note that the glitch is well known in iMovie '09, but may have been fixed in iMovie '11. Which version are you using?

    Put in a request for another verification e-mail to be sent to you.
    Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account.
    Also check your Mail rules and filtering, the verification mail may be going to a junk folder or even being deleted altogether. You may also wish to contact your mail provider to see if their spam filters are removing the email before it gets to you.

    i pay for itunes match, downloaded all my cd's and i see it on my phone but half the songs don't play,  what am i doing wrong?   i didn't think you had to actually download them onto the phone, this was the idea of not using the storage, right?

    All iTunes Match music is downloaded to iOS devices in order to play them.  They don't stream like services like Pandora do, whch only stream the music to your device without storing it.  With iTunes Match a song must be stored on the device in order to be played.  But here's where it gets a bit confusing.
    If you tap the cloud with the downward facing arrow next to a song on your phone it will download and stored on your phone and this will allow you to later delete it by swiping over the song title and tapping Delete.  In fact, you can later locate all the songs you have downloaded in this way by going to Settings>iTunes & App Store and turn off Music under Show All.  The music app will then only display the songs previously downloaded to your phone, making it easier to delete them to free up space if you no longer wish to store them on your phone.  Go back and turn Music back on under Show All in order to see your entire iTunes Match library again.
    However, you can still play a song by simply tapping the title (without tapping the download icon).  When you do this, the song plays, but is still downloaded and stored on your phone as you listen to it.  The disadvantage of this is that these songs are stored in cache memory and cannot be manually deleted by swiping over the song title.  According to Apple, this cache memory is automatically cleared over time as the memory on your phone starts to fill up (by deleting the oldest and least played songs from cache memory).  If you want, you can still force this memory to be cleared by restoring your phone.
    The main takeaway from all of this is that iTunes Match, while making your entire library available to play without storing the music on it ahead of time, still stores songs as you play them, or as you manually download them prior to playing them.
    If your songs are not playing when you tap them while away from your wifi, make sure you have Use Cellular Data turned on in Settings>iTunes & App Store.  This allows them to be downloaded and played using your cellular data plan while away from wifi.

    Ok, hey folks I figured this out, I had recently changed my iTunes account password, but my iPhone had the old password set in it, once I entered the correct password into the iPhone I was able to change the selections in automatic downloads, i went over to my MacBook Pro and downloaded a free song and app as a test and both showed up right any on the iPhone,

  • My buttons look just awful - what am I doing wrong?

    I'm trying to make some simple text buttons that are gray when not selected, and white when selected. I've attached a picture of what this looks like when I try to do this with a DVD Studio Pro button in a "normal" (non-layered) menu (note: I did not pick this heinous color scheme). The top button is "selected," the bottom button is not activated at all.

    I'm having the same issue. Here's what I found so far. If I play the DVD on my 10.6 Mac with DVD Player 5.4, I see the same ugly overlays you get.
    If I play the DVD on my 10.5 Mac with DVD Player 5.0.3, the overlays look fine.
    If I play the DVD on my Sony BD player connected to my TV, the overlays look fine.

    After reading numerous post here, after spending hours with Google, after interchanging mails with Apple support and after talking to two different agents..... I still can't download anything but free eBooks.     OK, well I spoke to the shop again, a different person this time. Again they said that the necessary agreements were in place in Spain and that the ibook store should work.
    It still doesn't.
    So I update my account, used a UK credit card and a UK address and it works fine. So still not sure what the problem is, or why Apple couldn't sort it out for me, but I am now up and running via the back door.
