How do i create an ePub file for ibook on Windows platform?

Adobe Indesign can do this.  I'm sure a simple google search would find various Windows apps.
You cannot submit books directly to Apple using a Windows machine, you would have to use an Aggregator like Smashwords. So you might want to see what format the Aggregator prefers.

How do I transfer epub files from my laptop to my Ipad Air

If they don't digital-rights-management on them (if they do then check the site that you got them from for which apps you can use for them on your iPad) then you can add them to your computer's iTunes library via the File > Add To Library menu option - if using a Mac with OS X Mavericks on it then add them to its iBooks app via File > Add To Library.
Then connect your iPad to your computer and select it in your computer's iTunes, and use the Books tab to select and sync the epubs to your iPad's iBooks app

Hi, I'm having trouble saving the documents when merging in Preview. I don't have any problems merging the pdf documents by dragging them in preview, but when I try to save and open afterwards, only the last shown doc was saved, not the combined files I wanted to merge. I've tried save and export, but none merge the documents after saving... how can I create the file (with all the pdf files) after merging?

That's a comment in the file. It has no effect at all.

How can I create a file brows menu, if I wont my user to choose a picture from his PC.

You can launch a file selection dialog with FileReference. You can save settings using a SharedObject (like a cookie).

If this is a Flex app, you will only be able to select a file from the local machine and upload to server, you won't be able to open the file in the Flex app, due to security sandbox.
If this is an AIR app you will not have this restriction.

Your solution lies in the File.separator constant; this constant will contain the path separator that is used by the operating system. No need to hardcode one, Java already has it.
edit: when it comes to paths by the way, I have the bad habit of always using the front slash ( / ). This will also work under Windows and has the added benefit of not needing to be escaped.

  • How to configure apache for ssl in windows platform

    hi all,
can anyone help me expalin how to configure apache for ssl in windows platform.

    George,
I would take the following 'first steps'
1)Install Apache20 on your Windows machine following the Apache online documentation
    http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/misc/tutorials.html
2)Make sure you can 'serve up' static HTML content from your Apache Server
3)Install Weblogic Server per our online documentation
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs61/install/index.html
4)Also, make sure you can 'serve up' both static and dynamic (e.g., JSP) content
    directly from WLS server
5)Once you have both of the above 'sanity' checks attempt to configure a simple
proxy by ppath or mime type via our online documentation

There used to be a win32 call for it, so if you want it you'll need to go back to C/C++ and do JNI, provided it is still in the API.

  • How can I develop co-broswing on Windows platform with java language?

How can I develop co-broswing on Windows platform with java language?
    The function will be realized
Now I want to develop a co-broswing system with java language on Windows platform. That is to say I will develop
a application run on client to track the present browser.Wheh the URL address of your present if changed(for example
when you click a link or submit a form),the application will capture the new URL address and send it to the other
client that make co-browsing connect with you.The browser on the other client side will catch the new URL and refesh
the page to show the page.
The question I fall across and want to ask you
(1)How to watch system process with java on the Windows platform?Because I want to get the process information of
the present broswer, and then get the URL address of the present broswer.
(2)Develop an application to watch the URL address of the present broswer continuance,If the URL address is changed,
then send the new URL address to the client on the other side, let his broswer to show the new page using the new URL.

Paulc, A proxy server is not the right thing.
What our man here is looking for is a solution for two
users to kind of surf the net "in tandem" - when one
user navigates to a different web page, so does the
    other user,
These are typically used in call center applications
where the advisor guides a caller through , say
filling in an insurance form or pointing him to the
    right product specification pages.
Xing, why are you using Java for this ? You need
something that has better windows integration. If you
look on MSDN.microsoft.com and search for "explorer
bar" you will find solutions to the questions that you
    raised.
There are also commercial products on the market that
already do this kind of stuff. there is one from
www.genesyslabs.com which is considered to be the best
    of breed.
It is difficult or almost impossible to do this in
    Java for a commercial application.
If you are developing this as an academic exercise,
give it a try. Post your email address here, and I
will contact and help you out if you like.my e-mail is below ,I want to contact you and need all of your help.

I work with authors who are wanting to sell their e-books directly as an .epub or .mobi file so that it can be easily download onto e-readers.
Currently BC only support pdf as an automatic download unfortunately so we could possibly get around this by creating a download page.
Has anyone created a download page so that the .epub & .mobi files can be downloaded easily onto e-readers etc?
    Thank you
    Carolyn

    Hi Liam,
This is the question I put into BC Support yesterday
    Hello Support,
Not sure where this fits in as an enquiry.
I work with authors who are self published and they offer for sale e-books. Now I am sure you are aware the platforms for e-books has changed quite rapidly in the past 18 months and more. But now with so many e readers out there, people are wanting to download a file that is compatible to their e reader, the same that they are able to download from the likes of Barnes & Noble, iDownloads, Amazon etc. I am now been asked by my authors that they want to offer a compatible file for download for these e-readers directly from their website. At present all we offer is a pdf which doesn't have the capabilities of an .epub file.
I couldn't find any answers in the knowledge base relating to these files.
My question is are we able to upload epub files for automatic download on BC? Will the system have any problems with a .epub file that you know of?
    Look forward to your reply.
    Thank you
    Carolyn
This is the reply I got back from BC Support
    Thank you for contacting us.
I have gone through the details.
This is unfortunately not possible , we can only use pdf format.
But I will try to pass on this information to product team as an enhancement request.
Also I would suggest you to post this in forums so that we can know for some workaround or if some of the partners have implemented this.
So I am just looking for some answers as to how to or can I upload .mobi & .epub files that will download directly onto folks e-readers. Has some body done it, I have read in some of the forums on the internet around these files and some say you have to add a bit of script that allows the file to download cleanly onto devices, I haven't found a definitive answer as yet.Hence the reason for asking this question.
Appreciate any help on this matter.
    Thank you

  • How can I create a file to another computer

    Hi.
I was wondering how can I create or write a txt file but in another computer(Server).
For instance, using the BufferedWriter to write in my computer I can do.
    BufferedWriter out = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter("C://hello.txt", false));
There is a way to write directly to the server? do I need to create a Server/Client protocol? it can do directly by BufferWriter?
Thank you, any help it will be very great.
    Chris

if the server is windows based (or runs SAMBA) then it is very easy to just use the host machine's path.
    i.e.
    BufferedWriter out = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter("\\\\Server\\C\\hello.txt", false));
where the server's hostname is 'Server"
and you have shared a directory called "C"

  • How can I create a file in iMovie with a lengthy audio file, but only 1 picture?

Let me state first off that I'm a blind user using the Voiceover screen-reader in OS X.
Now, I want to upload some audio to Youtube, but they do not allow simple MP3 files. As such, I want to create a file in iMovie with my audio and 1 picture to use as a visual. Within iMovie, I add my audio file, select a picture, but when I publish, the audio is cut off after only a few seconds. Can someone please explain how I can fix this issue so my entire audio clip will play?

iMovie is a visual medium, so you need to make the duration of your photo at least as long as your voiceover track. You should be able to double click on your photo and then enter a duration.
See iMovie Help at this link.

An MP3 file may work for you, but for best results, use a WAV or AIFF file (uncompressed). You can convert MP3 to AIFF in iTunes. Let me know if you need instructions.
