HT4203 My data and 3G won't stay off. It comes bak on almost instantly.

I try to shut data and 3G off to save battery but now it won't stay off. It turns bak on in a matter of seconds. What is wrong

This ***** because I like to listen to music while I work. It passes the time. Without turning 3G and data off the battery drains super fast.

Do you gotta plug up your iPod 5 gen while it's updatting to ios8? Because I updated mine and it won't stay charged plus it's losing battery life very fast.

You have not provided enough info to really help. How fast is fast?
What shows it will not stay charged?
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • I have Dreamweaver CS5 with Windows 8 and it won't stay connected to the server and it says I need flash plug in, please help

I have a Gateway computer with Windows 8 installed.  I have installed Dreamweaver CS5 to manage my website and it won't stay connected to the server.  It also won't play flash and says I need a flash plug in.  Please help

#1  Try toggling Passive FTP on/off in your remote server's site definition.
#2 Except for a handful of gaming sites, Flash is a dead web technology.  It's not supported by iPhone, iPad, iTouch, Android, etc...  I don't recommend using Flash for anything these days.  Better to use HTML5, CSS level 3 and JavaScript.

  • I have created a second user on my imac (OSX 10.7.1) and applications won't stay in the dock and my preferences default after restart. Anyone else have this problem?

I have created a second user on my iMac (OSX 10.7.1) and applications won't stay in the dock and my preferences default after restart. Everything works fine with the main user. Anyone else have this problem?

    Hi again, ;o)
I found this advice in another thread (here), which you might find helpful...
Unregistering the iMac from .Mac syncing and re-registering it (replacing the computer's information with the .Mac information) resolved the issue.
The .Mac sync information was Reset (i.e. recopied in it's entirety) from the MacBook (the 'good' computer) to .Mac prior to unregistering and re-registering the iMac, so a fresh copy of the sync could be loaded from .Mac to the iMac.
I hope this helps the others who have had this problem.

  • When I boot up my Mac, Messages opens automatically. I quit the app, but it just re-opens itself. It won't stay off!!! I can't figure out what's wrong with it!

For the past few months, my Mac has been acting weird. EVERY time I boot up the computer, Messages opens automaticallly (I am runing OS X 10.8.x). I quit the app, but it just re-opens a few seconds later! It just won't stay off! I've looked it up online and nothing helps. I have no idea what to do!!!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • MBP display won't stay off, wakes from sleep

I have a newish 15" MBP, 1680 display, hooked up to a Dell external monitor when it's at home. When I go to bed I cut power to the display via control-shift-eject, but generally don't put the computer to sleep overnight.
With this new machine, after it's been running for a while (as little as a day, or as long as a couple weeks), the displays will come on again in the night. Once this happens, the displays won't stay off for longer than about five seconds. If I then put the machine to sleep, it'll wake itself up minutes or hours later (generally not long enough to miss a Time Machine interval). The only cure is rebooting.
I tried an SMC reset, but that fix only lasted about as long as any other reboot.
I've since tried systematically removing every peripheral (a USB hub, the external display, any directly-connected iOS devices) and testing display-off after each; no change. I've turned off my Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, then disabled Bluetooth on the computer, turned off wifi, quit every menu extra (jitouch, Viscosity, Dropbox, Pastebot, Fastscripts, Transmit, Teleport), and quit every running application. The problem remains repeatable after every step.
It's repeatable at the moment — any suggestions for other things to try, preferably short of the reboot which temporarily masks the problem? I'm a little concerned that it's going to manifest at some point while I have the laptop sitting in a bag, which will then cook itself.
I'm on 10.6.4 now, the problem started on 10.6.3.
    Thanks.

Try checking the system logs in Applications/Utilities/Console.app for clues. The entries carry time stamps. Usually a wake event will leave some trace. By matching time stamps to the time of occurrence you may find the culprit.

  • I accidentally dropped macbook air that was in a book bag. The keyboard is working because I can see the light but the screen is black and it won't turn off. How should I fix this? Please Help ME!!

I accidentally dropped my friend's macbook air that was in a book bag. The keyboard is working because I can see the light but the screen is black and it won't turn off. How should I fix this? Please Help ME!!
I tried to turn it off and it didn't work... and I held on to the shift key too and it still doesn't work..
    Please help me..

Accidental damage is not covered under Apple warranty.  And it seems there is much accidental damage.  Only a Genius Bar tech looking at it can tell how much it will cost to repair.
Cost to repair will be high, I suspect (though Genius Bar will confirm/deny.
There is no gentle way to say this sir/ma'am ... someone will need to pay for your friend's MBA repairs.

  • I tried to update the software for my iPhone 4S. It froze, and now won't turn off, or on, or sync.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

I tried to update the software for my iPhone 4S, 16 GB to the most recent version (8.1?).  I don't know what I was updating from, because I can't access that, but it was whatever was installed on it (I got it about a year ago, so probably 6.something).
It froze, and now won't turn off, or on, or sync with my macbook plus, which is what I have always sync'd it to.  (I backed it up and sync'd it right before I tried to update the software.)
Since it originally froze almost 3 hours ago, it shows a white screen with the apple on it and a line underneath.  When I try to sync with my laptop, it says it needs me to enter a passcode on the phone, which I can't enter because the screen is frozen.  So I'm unable to access the iPhone portion of iTunes.
I have tried to turn it off, with no luck.  I have tried rebooting my laptop and syncing, but I still get the same result.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
I really wanted to wait to update the software, but I was having internet connectivity issues for the past 3 weeks, and Sprint suggested updating the phone's software.
Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi NWL1,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, the iPhone won't update and is stuck. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try deleting the problematic tune (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • Setting new APN and it won't stay?

I inserted new Sim in my iPad2 for temporary internet access in Japan (b-mobile). the last process after activation phone call is to set new APN. I tried typing exactly what the service provider told me but the new APN won't stay, as in when I finished and went back to cellular data, then to APN settings again, there were nothing. Can you help me understand this situation? It seems that the activation with the service provider has nothing wrong. Perhaps it's to do with iOS 7.0.4?
When I googled, the window 'PDP Aithentification failure' popped up. Please help.

The keyboard and mouse should have come from the factory already paired to the Mac. But if it didn't see this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1809

  • HP DV7 6135 bottom cover and battery won't stay in

For the past few months, when I picked up my laptop, sometimes the battery and/or the panel popped off. It was annoying and I even made sure the slider was in proper position but I noticed that the battery would pop out with just a gentle touch.  It gets really annoying when the battery pops out unexpectedly while I was just moving such as to change position on a chair or to walk to use the restroom.  Once the 12-cells pack missed my toe and left a half-inch deep dent in the wood floor, battery has never worked since and had to be replaced, thanks HP!
Today the bottom panel has popped out yet again and this time a few little black pieces came down with it, and the panel won't stay in anymore. Looking under bright flash light, it seems the plastic slider that normally locked or released both the battery and the panel has several broken pegs and cracks.  Looking in Google, it seems to be a common problem with 6000 series DV7?  Is there anything I can do short of buying an used 6000 series cheap off eBay and swapping the bottom shell?  Gluing the panel is one option but not the battery as I switch between 2 if I'm away from power source a long time.
Replacing it outright with a non-HP brand laptop is also an option but it gets costly when one factors in getting a new battery or 2 for long power on time in the field. Batteries are generally not cross-brand compatible (ie HP battery won't work in Dell model)

I just sent you a private message. If you are not sure how to check your forum messages, this post has instructions.

  • Date and time won't appear in the menu bar

For some reason, I can't make the date and time appear in the menu bar. Also, the Time machine, wireless icon and volume icon in the top right hand corner flash on and off. Have I done something obvious or is this a drastic problem?

For what it's worth I'm having the same problem. My data & time was appearing fine in the menu bar yesterday, and then today for some reason it disappeared. When I check the "Show date & time in the menu bar" checkbox in preferences, nothing happens. If I close and then re-open system preferences, the checkbox is unchecked again.
Again, not the end of the world, but massively annoying.

  • IPad 2 safari won't open and iPad won't switch off IOS 6.0.1

    Hallo everyone,
Pleease can anyone help as my iPad 2 is no longer recognised in iTunes.
I cannot open Safari - it immediately returns to the home screen.
It will not switch off so that I can reboot it.
    Aaaargh !
    Thanks

Quit ALL apps completely and reboot the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Reboot the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Do this for Safari as well. Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Won't stay off

*My iPod touch will not stay off. Everytime I turn it off and slide the red button to off the ipod goes off and then come right back on. I have reset and restored the ipod and it still doesn't want to turn off. What is up?*

*Well, I contacted Apple and they are sending me a box for service. This thing is the second iPod touch I have had in 2 weeks. The first one, purchased from Best Buy, had a bunch of dead pixels and now this. Should I take my invisible shield off before I send it in? I don't want them to blame this issue on something I did to it.*
