HT4208 Apps don't launch

I can't get my apps to launch

If you are talking about the downloaded apps - not the preinstalled apps  - download another app - any free app is fine.
If no apps will launch - reboot.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

    Hi there
Since a software update all my iPad apps don't work anymore. Restart didn't solved the problem. Problem occurs with both free and purchased apps.
Problem doesn't occure on iPhone etc.
    Any help?
    Appreciate

Try downloading a small-sized free app, open it and then try the others!

  • AppStore problems; Apps don't launch

This is turning into an absolute farce, as if the problems on launch day weren't bad enough.
I have purchased two applications today through the iPhone's AppStore, and both times I have the same problem - which I have seen other people talking about as well: The applications downloaded but then took a very long time during the "Installing" phase, and then once that had finished, they won't start.
Tapping on their icons just makes the iPhone pause, and then I get chucked straight back to the home screen.
I have tried deleting them and re-installing: same problem. I am also getting frequent "App Store is not available" messages and timeouts when browsing apps, from this I am guessing that the app tries to contact the store during the final part of the "installing" phase, times out, and leaves a broken application installed.
So, not really making a very good impression at the moment. I assume that as I can re-download applications, I haven't actually lost any money but it still makes the whole thing look like a complete shambles.

Same here. Absolutely ridiculous. OneTap Movies just crashes and snaps back to the home screen every time it is launched - although it worked prior to syncing. I had to restore my phone and set it up as a new phone to get it working again. Now it's back to crashing after syncing. Utterly ridiculous and completely unacceptable.
I am really disappointed in Apple - apps crashing constantly, MobileMe/.Mac aliases have disappeared from Mail.app on the Mac and aren't available to send from on the iPhone either, MobileMe updater issues...the list just goes on.
Too bad they don't seem to read feedback or these forums. Don't they use the iPhone themselves? I mean sh*#!, we've only had the 2.0 firmware and MobileMe for 2 days now and we've been plagued with constant issues. At least an acknowledgement that something is going on would be nice. I could at least respect that.

It seems that there is a bit of contradiction here as the message told you that you may get the free "Font Nuke" program to get rid of the font cache problem.
So, my guess is that you didn't apply the advice to the letter. But of course, it's just a guess

  • Apps don't launch or work after Copy Function

    Howdy,
I'm having another issue with ARD 3.
I've just rolled out StuffIt Expander 11 to all my Tiger Clients via ARD's Copy Function. The copy function works fine and it does copy the app to the destination, which is the Applications Folder.
The app launches on the client machine but if I drop an archive to expand, the app [StuffIt] does nothing. It accepts the focus that a file drop is about to occur. But it doesn't expand nor error.
If I copy the file locally on the client machine itself from the vendor's dmg file. The app runs the way it should. StuffIt Expander 11 dmg's is a 'Copy to App' installer as opposed to a pkg or Vise Installer.
I'm assuming this is clearly a owner/group rwx issue.
I checked using ls -l and BatChmod for permissions. All seem to be the same, Target and Source.
Is the Copy funtion only limited to Apple Branded apps, such as the misleading Installer Function in ARD?
    Anyone else?
    Motshakeran

    Me again.
Ok this is not solved. But managed to find a work around.
I found a great app called Iceberg, which I find better than Apple's Package Maker.
What I did was manually install a good working StuffIt Expander 11.app onto a mac and verified that it work. Then, I created a .pkg file using Iceberg and installed via ARD's Install Function ... and viola.. StuffIt Expander 11 works as it should to.
So clearly, this is a bug with ARD's Copy Function. I think, imho, the Copy Function fracks up something when it does copy. Maybe it's good with only single documents.
    Anyone else.
    Q'pla!

  • Apps don't launch

I've had the problems with apps not launching twice after the new iphone patch was launched to fixed the dropped call/reception problem. First time, an uninstall of several apps fixed the problem. This second time, going so far as a factory setting reset of my iphone didn't fix the problem. This tells me that the factory setting reset function isn't doing what's advertised. My guess is that this product is essentially an alpha release and we are paying to be testing resources.
It's too bad - I wanted to like the product. Sad.

  • "This movie could not be played", and apps don't launch

    Brand new iPod Touch
    Windows XP
Both iTunes and the Touch have the latest software
    Syncs successfully
Attempting to play a movie produces the error "The movie could not be played" on the iPod Touch. The movie plays successfully in iTunes on the PC.
    Affected content includes:
"Juno" digital copy which was included with a DVD, launches in iTunes, enter a unique code to redeem.
"Stargate" free preview, downloaded directly from the iTunes store on the Touch
Additional symptom: no downloaded app will run on the iPod Touch (the "built-in" apps run fine) They appear to launch and then instantly disappear.
Affected content: "Facebook" and "Yahoo Messenger" apps
These problems occur whether the content is added through iTunes on the PC and then synced over, or downloaded directly to the Touch through the built-in store.
Because "free", non-DRM content (such as videos I've created from DVDs using Handbrake) works perfectly, I suspect an authorization problem.
    Already tried:
    syncing and re-syncing
    multiple hard resets
de-authorizing and then re-authorizing the iTunes on the PC, and then re-syncing
    Backup and restore
Anything I'm missing? Otherwise it's going back to Best Buy tomorrow.

    Similar story here...
    iPod Touch - 32GB v3.1.2 (7D11) - Model MC008LL
    iTunes - 9.0.2 (25) - Intel 32-bit
Bought a 32GB iPod Touch yesterday and have been trying for hours to get two of my "digital copy" movies to work.
I have some other videos that I converted from MPEG-4 to H.264 and they play perfectly. I also suspect it may be a digital rights (DRM) related issue.
    My apps, however, do work:
    Skype (free)
    Google Earth (free)
    Globe Convert (free)
    NASA (free)
I have tried resetting the device and restoring all settings with no success.

  • ADL don't launch app by Mac OS

Use flexsdk 3.5a adl just don't launch app. Without any message, no error codes, just nothing.
    Flex SDK 3.5a
    AIR SDK 1.5.3
    Mac OS 10.5.8
And if i use Flex SDK 3.3 with AIR SDK 2.0beta - adl launch app!
Namespace in descriptor in both cases - http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/1.5.3
    Anybody knows the solution?

I found a problem - muCommander when unzip air sdk lost links.
    That's all

  • I just upgraded to os 5 and now my non apple apps don't work. They will not launch. Anyone seen this before?

I just loaded os 5 on my iPad 2 and now all non apple apps don't work. Anyone have any idea way?

Have you tried basics from the manual?
    Restart.
    Reset.
    Restore.

  • Apps crash or don't launch

Since I buyed the iPhone, some of the apps don't work at all. Most of them are the very heavy ones. Kotoba sometimes doesn't even lauch, and if it does, all I can do is type a letter and then the app crashes.
PlayGod is the same thing. Only after about 3 seconds after waiting for the game to charge, it crashes up and returns to the main menu.
Now I have SimCity, and its my number one, favorite app. The problem is it gets crashed every 5 minutes. And that makes me go crazy.
If anyone could please help me. They told me to delete some apps and I already did it, but nothing changed >_<

    1. Reset the phone by pressing both the home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple icon appears (ignore the red slider).
    2. If still not working, restore the phone in iTunes - first from a backup and if necessary as a new iPhone.
    3. If none of the above helps, you need to get warranty service for a possible hardware problem. In the USA, this is done by appointment with an Apple Store Genius Bar. (I don't know who provides virtual warranty service in you location, Sim City.)

  • 3rd party iPhone apps no longer launching - as of today (1/21/2010)

All third-party apps (those Not installed with the iPhone) are not launching.
I have called support and have done the following:
    -Restarted the iphone
-Deleted apps. Installed New Apps. Deleted New apps. etc.
-Unchecked "Sync Apps" in ITunes (which removes them all).
-Checked "Sync Apps" and resynced (reinstalled all apps - which I then painstaking moved to the screens that I wanted them installed on)
When I touch an app, it appears to launch for a second, and then the screen appears, so the app never fully launches.
-I have signed out and back in my iTunes account.
I purchased this Iphone 3GS the day it was available on the web (from AT&T). All apps were working and launching until this morning. 3.1.2. 32 Gb. I've removed several apps so I "only" have five screens, or less than 80 apps.
I have set up for a callback Friday morning, but am wondering what others may have done with the similar problem.

After posting this, I read through related issues and found a reference to this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1702
I did the first step, which was Slightly Different than what I had done, and solved my problem. In short: iTunes > select iPhone icon > Store: Deauthorize, etc. Of course, now I have to set up all that apps with UserIds and passwords . . . .
This appears to be a DRM issue (Digital Rights Management). Why, I have no idea, but this is how I am now able to use all apps on my phone (once again).

  • Mail.app crashes on launch consistently

Up until yesterday, my upgrade to Mountain Lion had been completely smooth.  Today when I launch mail, it crashes consistently on thread 0.  So I did the Windows rule of rebooting first off.  no joy
I tried restoring the app via Time Machine and it crashes as well so the problem cause remains unknown.
I have tried this with iCloud sync both on and off and also tried resetting sync services since this used to be a fix in the old days with Lion and Snow Leopard although I think it no longer applies with iCloud.
I've also tried removing the envelope index files and even all the plist files but the app does not launch long enough or far enough to get there.
I've also done a Repair disk permissions and while it found tons of faults, mostly in the printers area, this did not resolve the issue.
At this point, Mail is unusable which is a major pain in the ***.  if anyone has solutions, I'd appreciate hearing.
    Ross

I'm having the same problem as JadedEye.   Mail.app worked just fine yesterday, but now I can't get it to launch.
I've tried your suggestion, hpr3, to use Safe Mode.   No luck.
    Other things I've tried:
    1. Using recovery partition, repaired disk - no problems
    2. Using recovery partition, repaired permissions - nothing that looked as if it were related.
    3. Tried restoring Mail.app through Time Machine
    4. Tried restoring entire ~/Library/Mail folder from yesterday
    5. Tried deleting Mail Envelope files
    6. Tried removing entire ~/Library/Mail and ~/Library/Mail Downloads folders
    7. Tried deleting preferences files -- only one I found was com.apple.mail.plist.lockfile
NONE of these things has made any difference.  I would re-install Mail.app, if I could find an installer package anywhere.

  • IPhone 3rd party apps won't launch anymore!

After updating the iPhone software to 3.1, a host of 3rd-party apps won't launch anymore (appear for 1 second, then revert back to the apps icons page).
I've tried upgrading to iTunes 9, uninstalling then reinstalling ALL apps on the iPhone via iTunes, hard rebooting my iPhone, restarting my iMac, etc etc, but nothing works.
On a iPhone 3Gs page on the Forums, I saw many others having similar difficulties and blaming it on the XX upgrade. One solution proposed there was to download a free app from the App Store and install it. Tried that, and it didn't work for me.
I hope Apple will give this attention, because it's basically disabled my iPhone's business-sensitive functionalities (like 1Password) on the eve of a 2week business trip ... and on business trips, I don't have my iMac with me! >:-(
In case it helps the OS is showing as 3.1 (7C144) on my device.

    Hi!
I may have a solution to your problem. I updated to Firmware 3.1 today and couldn´t open any application i downloaded. I seems the updated version of iTunes handles apps a little different from before. When you connect your iPhone and it pops up in iTunes, right click on it to enter your configuration area (for the iPhone). At the top bar you have a row of options like music, pictures, podcast and somewhere in the middle you have the option "Programs". Click on that and you will see a list of all the programs you have downloaded in iTunes. Unfortunatly you have to recheck all the boxes at the left side of the program you want to be synched to your iPhone. Check these boxes and click "Apply" at the bottom right and iTunes will now transfer them to your iPhone. Easy breasy when you know how to do.
    Best of luck, Cheers!

  • My Applications Don't launch ..:(

    Hello Again ..!!
I migrated from Snow Leopard to Mavericks on my late 2009 unibody macbook. The installation went well but now I'm having a terrible time working on my mac.
Most of my applications such as (Terminal / App Store / Software Update / Camera / iPhoto / iMessage ) don't launch..!!
My finder acts weird ..!! At times, it'll show the files on my hard drive, at times it goes blank .. The only way out of this is to relaunch..
Am i the only one facing these issues ..?? Now how will I ever be able to update the upcoming updates when my software update doesn't work ..??
    Please help ..:(

You ran a defective third-party "utility" such as "CleanMyMac" that purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

How can I fix my iLife Library/Architecture? It tells me to check with my developer?

If the receipts are still present then the apps don't install.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
