Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

I wish when I "sync" for photos on my 3g iPad, I did not at the same time sync for videos (and probably music). I then have to go into my iPad and delete the videos I have on my computer but DO NOT want on my iPad! This seems VERY cumberson.
Every time you sync photos to the iPad you should check all photos you want to have on the iPad when sync ends, not just the ones you want to add. The only way to delete synced photos from the iPad is to uncheck them and sync again. iTunes checks the ones you have checked with the current contents of the iPad and adds or deletes as necessary to make them match.

HT4236 Synching photo on ipad: issue with portrait format
How do you manage to have portrait photo on your computer, remain portrait photo on you ipad?
Recently my portrait photos appear as landscape on my ipad.
I have tried saving them on a different name, still does not work
Any solution?I got the file so I was able to check what I was thinking about.
It's really puzzling because there is no official way to do that : columns 13 thru 52 were available but were zero width ones.
Even with a script we can't set a coliumn width smaller than 8.
I don't know the story of the document.
Maybe it was imported from an application allowing zero width columns (AppleWorks for instance).
I know a way to achieve this setting : define the width to zero in the index.xml file.

How can I transfer photos from my Windows computer to my Ipad.
I already have the photos transfered into a photo stream file.
How to activate the transfer ?Hey Juergen119,
I would recommend syncing your photos from your computer to your iPad by using iTunes:
iTunes: Syncing photos
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
First, if you want to set it up to work via iCloud, I would check and make sure My Photo Stream is set up correctly on your devices:
To use My Photo Stream you need an iCloud account, compatible devices, and up-to-date software:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5.1 or later
Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later and iPhoto 9.2.2 or Aperture 3.2.3 or later
Apple TV (2nd generation) with Apple TV Software Update 5.0 or later
PC with Windows 7 or later and the iCloud Control Panel 2.1 or later for Windows
For complete iCloud setup instructions, visit How to set up iCloud.
Then, once it is set up, you can upload your photos to My Photo Stream by following these directions:
PC with iCloud Control Panel 2.0 or later: Open a Windows Explorer window and under Favorites select iCloud Photos if you are using iCloud Control Panel 3.0 (or Photo Stream if you are using 2.0 to 2.1.2). Open My Photo Stream. Click the "Add photos" button. Select the photos to import to My Photo Stream, then click Open.

I'm trying to get photos transfered from my computer to my Ipad. My Itunes does not have a 'Photo' folder to place my photos. I can find everything but a 'Photo' folder (Movies, Podcasts, IUniv, Books etc). Any thoughts?
Shoe9850,
you can do it by creating sub-folders within the folder that is selected to be synced.
e.g. Folder "Photo" has been selected to be synced to your iPad.
Create two sub-folders e.g. "Family" and "Vacation" within "Photo" folder and put photos in both sub-folders instead of "Photo" folder.
Now sync your photos and in photo's tab, after you have selected "Photo" folder to be synced, make sure you select all Folders as example below:
Once completed you will find both folders "Family" and "Vacations" are in your iPad's album including Camera Roll. e.g. below: -
How do I transfer photos from Ipad to computer?
How do I transfer photos from iPad to computer?
For photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites then see this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
For photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer (which has a free lite version called Simple Photo & Video Transfer) which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you ten copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer. -
I have the 2nd Gen iPad and imported my photos from my computer to my iPad awhile back. Now I'd like to sync it to new MacBook Pro and my albums are not showing up? Anyone know how to fix this?

Can't sync photos from ipad that I synced from another computer
Can't sync photos from ipad that I synced from another computer... I want to have them on my computer.
Why isn't there a way to do this? I don't get it. Sharing photos is such an important thing I don't understand why Apple makes it so hard to do this.
OK here is my senario:
Recently went on a trip Hong Kong with someone... we both had iphones and took hundreds of awesome photos. Now we want to share them with eachother. Too many photos for email and I don't wish to upload to flicker/facebook/etc...
This is what I did thinking it should work...
1) synced photos on her iphone with her computer
2) synced photos on MY iphone with her computer
3) put ALL the hong kong photos in one album
4) connected my ipad to her computer... attempted to copy photos from iphoto to ipad -- NOPE, can't be done (***?!?!)
5) so I synced the photos (and only the photos) in the hong kong album using itunes to my ipad -- this worked -- all photos now on my ipad
6) drove home (5 hours away) and connected ipad to my computer and attempted to import with iphoto -- NOPE, can't be done (***!?!?) Won't even show the photos.
7) itunes wants to replace all the photos on my ipad with the photos from my computer (***?!?!)
How are you suppose to do this?! How are you suppose to be able to share lots of photos with people?Photos are not copied off the iPad via iTunes.
For photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites then see this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083

Can i import photos from ipad to windows based computer.
my ipad is losing charge very quickly and I have been told by apple genius bar support that the battery is working fine. They say I need to back up the ipad and then reload from scratch. But they say that if I simply use the back up I am likely to have the same problem, so what I really need to do is make sure that my photos are safe and then can choose what to reload. But I have a windows pc not a mac and I cant see how to transfer the photos on the ipad to the computer. Apple say they know nothing about windows computers. Any easy, non technical ideas please?
First of all, you can use iTunes or iCloud to backup your data on iPad. If you have no idea on how to make a backup, you can go to :http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203977
Then, to import photos from iPad to computer, there are two ways:
Way 1: If you have enable iCloud, you can see and copy the photos you took in the last 30 days on Windows iCloud panel which you have installed on your computer. However, there is an advantage that you can not import all photos.
Way 2: You can use iTunes to copy the photos on iPad to your computer. Install the latest iTunes and connect iPad to the computer. Then, you'll see your device on the "Computer (disk)" list , click it, you can see all your pictures on the iPad and import or copy it to the computer. -
Syncing photos on ipad and computer
Everytime I sync my computer and ipad I get multiple copies of the photos. I end up removing them individually from the computer and ipad. Is there an easier way?
Photos transferred from your computer to your iPad via the iTunes sync/transfer process is a one way transfer process only - from your computer to your iPad.
Photos in your iPad's Camera Roll can be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera, which is not handled by iTunes and has nothing to do with the iTunes sync process.
Depending on what you are using for the photo import on your computer, it should include an option to delete the photos from the Camera Roll after the import process is complete. -

Syncing photos FROM ipad to computer- suggestions?
I dowloaded photos while on vaction TO my ipad - now I can't seem to get them from the ipad to my computer. When it starts to sync it appears it's going to overwrite the ipad with the computer photos so I discontinue so I don't lose the photos. Suggestions?
Open iPhoto while the iPad is connected to the mac. There will be a "Devices" entry in the left panel where the iPad is listed. Click on that and you'll see your photos on the iPad. You can then drag them to the "Photos" entry in iPhoto.
