HT4245 face time does not connect when receiving or dialing out

face time does not connect when receiving or dialing out

It finally seems to work (2nd day now and counting)...
I tried the following with no luck:
upgrading to iOS 5
adding an associated e-mail and calling that associated e-mail
do a full-scale registration of the e-mail (and making a free purchase via itunes) instead of a 'facetime only' registration
this combo however seems to have done the trick:
keeping the ipad2 plugged in
changing the dns on the ipad to "8.8.4.4,8.8.8.8"
If it continues to work for a few more days, then i think i can say the the problem is finally resolved.

  • Face time does not accept my Apple ID and will not work.  Help!!, face time does not accept my Apple ID and will not work.  Help!!

Hi, Face time does not accept my Apple ID and therefore Face time does not work. Any suggestions?

You might have some sort of interference or communication problem, I just wanted to check you were entering the right ID to begin with.
If you are using the correct ID (without spaces), then you might try restarting the router or trying another wifi channel to eliminate interference.

  • FaceTime on Mac (Yosemite) does not connect when calling an IOS device

    Hi all,
Since my upgrade with Yosemite, I seem to be having issues with FaceTime (video/audio) calling iOS Devices. iMessage works just fine with Yosemite. But when i attempt to call the other party via FaceTime, i could hear it ring but cannot connect. Anybody else who has the same issue and does anybody know how to fix it? It would seem to be a Yosemite issue, because when i tried using my iPad and iPhone to call via FaceTime, it works just fine using the same Apple Id i used for the Macbook Pro (Mid 2010). But when I use my Mac to call the iPhone.. It rings but it does not connect.. I hope they fix this with the next update..

For the ones who are interested: the problem has been "solved".
Solution: none. I found out that the iPhone 4 from my girlfriend caused the problem. The iPhone made it impossible to FaceTime to each other from iPhone <> MacBook Pro. I think it's because the discontinued iOS support for the iPhone 4.
Since she has the iPhone 6 FaceTime now works wonderful without any problem.

  • IPhone 4 won't connect when trying to dial out, just hangs and hangs at "connecting"

    iPhone 4 running 4.3.3 on AT&T network.
For some reason, I can only make one outgoing call at a time on my phone without having to power it off and reboot it.  When I go to make a call, it will just hang at "connecting" -- I don't even get a "Call failed" or "can't connect".  If I power off and reboot, and I can make a call, but just ONE.  The next one I try is the same thing.  Really annoying!
Has anyone had this problem?  Is it a software or carrier issue?  I've resent the network settings and that didn't help.
    Thanks!

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • After updating my 3gs to ios5 nothing works properly the phone is slow, no service, rapid battery drain, excessive heat when in use for longer periods of time, does not connect to vehicle stereo through usb, and screen is on but not responding to control

my 3gs battery dies rapidly and gives off excessive heat when in use no service anywhere, slow reponse time sometimes not at all like lights on but no one home, calls drop can text  no 3g can not connect to vehicle usb as a note i restored the phone from my back up

Same problems, unfortunatley I updated to 5.0 1 hour before going on holiday for three weeks and no way to restore my phone to try to remove it.At the same time, drop outs, range problems and the most annoying was my music and apps were corrupted and would not function properly :-(

  • Face Time does not work consistently on the iPad 2.

Both iPad 2's are updated to the latest iOS version. Both use e-mail addresses to contact each other. Both are using wireless.
When you first try to connect to the iPad it shows it trying to connect but the receiving iPad does not ring. If you go into settings and turn off Face Time and then back on again on the receiving iPad it will work fine for about 3 connections then it stops working again until you turn Face Time off then on again.
Any suggestions to fixing this issue?

  • My phone does not ring when receiving a call. It then goes to voicemail and doesn't show a missed call.

I have an iPhone 4. When someone tries to call me, the phone sometimes(most of the time now) does not ring. It will roll over to voicemail but does not show a missed call. Has anyone had this same thing happen and how did you get it rectified?

My wife's iphone 4 also has your same no ring problem as does my iphone 5 just less often.  I called her iphone 4 at home from where I work 20 miles away on my iphone 5.  With her phone in 3G mode ONE call went through and 9 went to voice mail in 10 tries.  This is a 10% sucess rate!!  I also could listen in real time from the wired work phone and the wired home phone.  She turned off 3G mode and it went to "O" mode at  the top left of the screen after the ATT.  In this mode it rang on the first ring tone 5 times out of 5 tries which is 100% of the time.  I have learned that the calling party will hear up to 4 ring tones when placing a call on the ATT network.  If the ring tone changes volume slightly before the 4th ring then and only then will the cell phone start to ring.  If the ring tone does not change after the 4th ring you get voice mail.  If the calling party does not leave a voice message there is never a missed call displayed on the iphone.  If the calling party does leave a voice message a few minutes later the iphone dings for arriving voice mail but still no missed call indication.
This appears to be related to the time of day and the ATT tower that the receiving caller is using.  Tried other towers and it works in 3G mode 10 times out of 10 tries.  Apple replaced the first iphone 4 with a new phone, no improvement.  ATT replaced the SIM card and no improvement.  ATT so far is clue less.  This has been going on every since we got the new iphones which is 4 months.  The ATT web site also describes this same problem from several years ago.  Has anyone got better information?
    Thanks

  • IMessage does not send when receiver is not online

I am trying to send an iMessage to another iPhone (version 5.0.1) that is not online (not on 3G) at this moment. I have used iMessage to this person before when that iPhone was on wifi. In my settings I have "send as sms/text" turned on. So I am expecting that the message is going via the cellular sms/text, but the receiver does not get anything (using another phone works well so the receiver can receive sms/text messages).
What could be the problem here? Thanks to all for helping me out here.

Hi Allan, thanks for taking the time to help.
Let me explain a little bit further. My sons iPhone does not have a dataplan, only call/sms plan. I use iMessage with him when he is on a wifi at home or at school.
But now he is not on wifi and I want to sms/text him. My wife with an Android can SMS him fine. He can SMS me as well but my SMS does not get delivered. So he has cellular reception.
With "send as SMS" turned on in settings, I would expect my message to be transfered via SMS. The send button is still blue, suggesting iMessage is still used and not green (which would suggest SMS).
    Thanks for the help!
