Trying to extend my current wifi, but keep getting a non-responsive airport express... i.e. I have a broadband cable router with WIFI from my cable company (Netgear CG3000) and an Apple Express (latest version) - the AX will "join the wireless network" wireless, but won't extend it. Any ideas to solve this?

Apple states that the AirPort Express will only extend a wireless signal from another Apple router.
So, it would be extremely unlikely that the AirPort Express would be able to extend the wireless signal of another manufacturer's router.....if you are trying to extend using wireless only.

Openkore: Has anyone gotten this to work yet?

I've been working with this package on and off for the last month or so and have not yet been able to successfully connect to a private server for Ragnarok Online. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to connect or where I'm limited to connect to if that's the case. I just wanna play and can't seem to get beyond the initial configuration. [solved]Catalyst + xorg 1.6 = Has anyone gotten it to work?

After going over the wiki for ATI and installing the catalyst+catalyst utils (9.4) from AUR using yaourt, the device refused to load. Now, I don't have the error on file as I'm not at home. But the question remains: Has anyone gotten this to work?
(*) 4870 HD Radeon card
(*) 9.4 driver + utils from yaurt/AUR (I didn't.. see official 9.4 drivers anyone on the ATI website, how did we get them?)
(*) no xorg.conf used, just startx to automatically detect hardware. And it worked, attempting to use the catalyst-based driver, but only with red bars and blocks on top of the screen
(*) xf86-video-ati and radeonhd both work fine, but obviously the 3d support isn't so hot, and I'm a huge gamer
(*) latest xorg release from pacman -Syu
(*) Yes, I know official support has ceased
Thoughts? Shared ideas? What are we waiting for, ATI's new drivers or a patched fix? Got this working, anyone?

don't forget to run 'aticonfig --initial --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf ' as root after you update your driver or change sthing in xorg.conf
BTW I use catalyst 9.4 from AUR with kernel 2.6.29 and xorg 1.6

Has anyone gotten DLNA to work properly with Windows 7 x64 ?

Has anyone gotten DLNA to work properly on Windows 7 64 bit and Windows Media Player 12? I got it working, sort of. It's not reliable though, and very slow. It drops the connection a lot, and when I go to engage it it connects about half of the time and half of the time it won't see the Media Server. It also times out when trying to scan my (admittedly large) music directory on my PC.
I'm sure that my hardware is ok, I think that DLNA is just a buggy system. But if anyone has it working properly with Windows 7 x64 and WMP 12 can you tell me exactly how you set it up? And if you used another desktop app besides WMP can you tell me what worked for you?

If a red X, yellow ! or yellow ? is displayed to the left of a listed device, a conflict is present and the drivers must be updated or reinstalled.

AirPlay Mirroring requires a Mid 2011 or newer MacBook Air. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404 If it's compatible, you have two possibilities:
1. Make a backup, open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion. Then, you will be able to turn on AirPlay on System Preferences > Displays.
2. Keep with OS X Lion and use AirParrot > http://www.airparrot.com

Airplay not working with non-apple router

I use an airport express only for playing music in a remote location. It stopped working after I switched my main wireless router from a Time Capsule to a Linksys running Tomato USB firmware.
The Express is set up as "join a wireless network" with the correct SSID and password. The light on the Express is green and the main router status page shows it is connected, but Airplay cannot see the Express from either iTunes on my macbook or my iPhone. Also I cannot see the device in Airport Utility. When I connect the Express to my computer with ethernet, Airport Utility can see it and so can iTunes.
I have another Express hooked to the network via ethernet and everything works fine with that one.
Surely Airplay should work with non-apple wireless routers. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Outlook Calendar and I-Pod, Who has gotten this to work?

I am at a complete loss. I have a 5th generation I-pod video. When I first got it (last spring) I could get it to sync with my contacts and calendar from Outlook. At times it would cause the program to hang, or not always bring over information, but most of the time it worked. I upgraded to 7.0 when it came out and that stopped the calendar completely. I’ve tried looking at past postings. I’ve searched the web. I’ve looked all over Apple’s website for a e-mail address for tech support or maybe even a live chat option. Wow, I thought Apple was supposed to be pretty good on the support end.
Anyway, does anyone know of a fix for this? I’m currently using the latest I-tunes and the latest i-pod software (updated 12/20/06). The contacts do come across, but not the calendar. If Apple personal looks at this PLEASE post a response.
Anyone? Heck at this point I’d even be up for third party software just to get the info over. Suggestions?

There is a thread in 'Connecting IPOD to Windows' from somebody who was trying to use Outlook 2007 Beta with a contribution that says:
I finally got it working... I'm not sure what it was that got it to finally work again, but here's the steps I took:
1.) I downloaded and installed the 1.2.1 update for my 5th Generation iPod today.
2.) I had turned off the calendar and contacts feature a while back (since it wasn't working with Beta 2 of Outlook 2007).
3.) I turned off the "Enable Disk Use" feature.
4.) Unplugged the iPod, plugged it back in and turned on the "Sync Calendar" (and I'm not choosing "All Calendars" - just the one I have selected) and clicked "Apply". iTunes then started synchronizing my calendar and I unplugged and checked the iPod to make sure my calendar items were there.
5.) Plugged the iPod back in and turned on "Sync Contacts" (All Contacts) and clicked "Apply". iTunes synchronized both my contacts and calendar and I unplugged the iPod - and sure enough - both were there (including the Contact Photos I had set up in Outlook 2007).
I'm betting it was a fix in the 1.2.1 firmware/software update that got it working -- Good Job Apple!

RegisterAlarm - has anyone got this to work?

I'm trying to get the registerAlarm function to work on a real phone, but it only works one time. I want the Midlet to be executed once every 30 sec, but after the first reschedule it stops rescheduling.
Does anyone have a clue on what's wrong? I do everything according to the book as far as I know.
I've looked everywhere, and have not been able to find anyone that actually has got this to work. Is it a bug in Midp 2.0? Does registerAlarm work more than once?

...even starting the Midlet manually to force a rescheduled task won't work, but what is strange, is that if I turn the phone completely off and back on again, I can get it to work one more time.

Outlook 2007 - Can anyone get this to work?

Just wondering if anyone had success with this, it's really frustrating that the Oracle connector doesn't work with Outlook 2007.

I've tried to get this to work on several machine configurations (Office 2007 with and with out Office 2003) using the latest Connector for Outlook on Windows XP and Windows Vista and was still unable to get it to work. I'm 100% convinced that Oracle needs to work on this ASAP and I'm even more astonished and perplexed that Oracle have not provided a solution for their customers. This has pushed me to the point where MSExchange, even Novell are being consider as a permanent alternative. Let's face it, Exchange does seem that they finally got their act together and offers a lot of flexibility for Mobility.
I've spent about 80+ hours on this and have permanently given up until I hear back from the Oracle developers, who doesn't seem to have a solution readily available to give provide. I'm interested in anyone's comments about their conversations with Oracle.

I had the same problem. Even though it reads like a 2nd alternative, it is actually a continuation of the first step.
To listen to another account's music files
Open iTunes.
From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences.
Click Advanced.
Deselect the option to "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library file."
Click OK.
From the File menu, choose Add to Library.Note: Windows users can also choose Add Folder to Library to add a folder of songs.
In the window that opens, navigate to the location where the other user's music is saved (the iTunes Media folder in this example).
Click Open.
Repeat these steps for each account that is listening to shared music.
When another user on the computer imports new music from CD, repeat steps 6 through 8 to add the music to your library."
After you do this to each account, everything should work fine.

The old rule of thumb was to keep 10-12 GB free. Any lower than that and you will start to have trouble. I was very close to that for a long time and never had any complaints. Now, Lion "encourages" 20% free space (on my newer 250 GB drive) so I try to keep it with more than 50 GB free.
Do you still have the original memory in that machine too? The metal plate you have to remove in the battery compartment also provides access to the RAM. Your machine will take 2 GB of RAM, possibly 3. You definitely want to max that out too.
Regardless, you definitely need a new hard drive. When Apple switched to PC components, they had to take a quality hit. These 2.5" notebook hard drives are not very reliable. I'm surprised your hard drive hasn't died by now. I usually get a new hard drive with every major OS upgrade. A $ 50 investment every couple of years is no big deal.
Unfortunately, you (and I) suffer from being an early adopter in 2006. Those 32-bit machines only accept 2 GB RAM (maybe 3) and are only 32-bit so they can't be upgraded to Lion. Because of this limitation, you won't see as dramatic an improvement as you would with a 2007 machine. If you run more than a couple of applications, your hard drive is always going to have to be doing some VM work. My 2006 machine has even lost its bluetooth. I gave it to my brother. My very similar 2007 Macbook is still running great.
So, you must get a new hard drive because your old one is likely on death's door. If you don't have at least 2 GB - get it. If you can't afford a new machine, you might want to consider an SSD. That might help mitigate your RAM limitations. You can spend from $ 100 to $ 350 and get a dramatic speed improvement.
